Kim's Rude Awakening - From Season 2 Episode 1 "The Ta Family": In the Ta family household, Dad is fighting a losing battle to keep the place clean. And while Mom and their two boys laze around, the home has become a smelly, bug-infested nightmare. The filthy kitchen is almost impassable, dirty laundry and junk are piled everywhere, and the bugs are taking a toll on everyone.
From Season 2 Episode 2 "The Byrne Family": Too much junk and not enough cleaning have turned the Byrne family home into a madhouse. There’s clutter everywhere, the bedrooms are a mess, the refrigerator is overflowing… And the kids don’t lift a finger to help out. A frustrated Mom is desperate for a solution - but as an out-of-control shopaholic, she’s also part of the problem.
From Season 2 Episode 4 "The Butlers": In the Butler household, the stay-at-home Mom takes care of everything while Dad and their two lazy kids just kickback. And while grandma’s room is always perfect, the other bedrooms are messy and full of junk. Toys litter every corner, the kids either sleep on the couch or with their parents, and Dad’s unfinished jobs list keeps just getting longer…

Families should be re-visited one year later. That's the only way to find out if the intervention had any effect. And I have my doubts the new behaviors will stick.

Mum in the Tah family clearly has adhd. But she doesn’t realize and tries to make a cute joke out of it. Then again the Dad is fully capable of single-handedly keeping that house in better shape. He probably has a disorder as well. Birds of a feather flock together
This show started in 2008, there was so little awareness of ADHD back then, particularly in relation to adults and even more so with regard to women.
Neurologists can tell you the kid s brain, like Samantha's, cannot do this on her own. It was good to see Dad coming along in a non stress way. It has to become a game and done in short lapses of time. Well done
My approach to Samantha's reluctance to participate and get rid of things would be to tell her that if SHE doesn't decide what to toss, then I will do it FOR her. Chances are, what I would give away and what she would give away, are dramatically different. You'd think she would rather be the one to call those shots in order to save her most favorite items.

The first “wife/mom” smiling as she says “we never clean!” 🙄 How can you eat in a house with ants and roaches??!!!🤮🤢 And what’s up with the one kid who’s like 10 or 12 writing on walls!!!!🙄smh!! What’s wrong with him?!
I don't think he's entirely to blame to be honest. He's old enough to have learned some common sense from his peers but look at the example he's had from his mother. My heart goes out to the dad he seems like a decent guy who is trying. he must be exhausted.
You can actually use mayonnaise to clean wood furniture -- and it doesn't matter if it's out of date (though you shouldn't keep it too long, or it will start to smell).
The mother is very entertaining to watch, but when I realized she probably has adhd I started to feel sad for her. I deal with her exact feelings whenever my house is untidy and it's truly overwhelming and paralyzing. Hope she's well.

We're really not getting the full picture on a show like this. As others have pointed out, she may be dealing with a health condition that causes fatigue and not realize it.
They'll never get rid of all those cockroaches with that homemade trap
And I cannot imagine anyone recreating those homemade traps after Kim is gone.
They need professional help. They make good money and need to hire fumigators once a month and cleaning crews 2-3 times per month. They can't do this on their own. Too disorganized with no sense of priorities.
Kim shouldn't be using pure bleach in an unventilated bathroom. The fumes are dangerous to breathe in and she didn't say anything about ruining your clothes with it.
These people are discussing, no excuses!

The Butler family mother is a lazy homemaker. The father is no prize either. Grandma is a rock star.
People say this woman has adhd. I am not a psych but I think she has a narcissistic personality. Narcissists don’t mind other people’s feelings, get other people to do the hard work for them, laugh things off. If you have adhd you get a lot of energy and sometimes you will use that to clean. Not having cleaned ever is a big warning sign. Her act ‘I am gonna sleep’ just seems to be an act so she doesn’t need to do anything.
How about calling CPS. Those kids can’t live in filth.

The filthiness is real...kitchens, bedrooms, bugs...but i think all families homes have been over-exaggerated for the show with clothes all over floor.
I don't personally believe the situation is over-exaggerated because the family that lives across the road from me is exactly like this, except that they have four sons instead of two.

My mom was a clothing, book, knickknack and crap hoarder. Her closet off the living room was a large walk in and she had clothing all over the floor and spilling out. My sis and I played hide and seek in them and I actually dislocated my pinky toe in the pile of clothing, my toe was literally at a 90 degree angle.
The laundry room also was piled high with dirty clothing where you couldn't even see the washer and dryer. She would buy new second hand clothes if we needed something to wear! Boggles my mind, then and now as a mother of two. I cannot stand hoarding, drives me up a flipping wall!!!!! I'm no obsessive cleaner but, keep only what you love! And keep it manageable.
So after the cocroach underclass with the parents did the cockroaches go to the house next door?😮Did the big cockroaches go to the ta's house..then?...
There must be a shortage of dentists in Canada as well as the U.K.
Wow my kids and hubby don’t help me clean and I work 45 hours a week and my house is immaculate, these are lazy moms, I mean I just adjusted myself to having to do everything
I commend you for being a super mom...but honey YOU shouldn't be doing it all yourself ...everyone should pitch in to help you, and do there part.
