    CLIP DESCRIPTION:
The raptor eggs are returned to their rightful owners in this tense exchange.
    FILM DESCRIPTION:
Director Joe Johnston takes over the creative reins from Steven Spielberg for this third installment in the thriller franchise. Sam Neill returns as Dr. Alan Grant, a scientist who's tricked by wealthy couple Paul and Amanda Kirby (William H. Macy and Tea Leoni) into a fly-over of Isla Sorna. The object of their sightseeing tour is one of the Costa Rican islands populated by ferocious, genetically bred dinosaurs and the "site B" setting of Jurassic Park 2: The Lost World (1997). After their plane crash-lands, it's revealed that the Kirbys are actually seeking their teenage son, lost on the island after a paragliding accident. Trapped on Isla Sorna, Grant and his companions discover some painful truths the hard way. Among their discoveries: some of the scaly monsters possess more advanced communicative abilities than previously believed, the dreaded Tyrannosaurus Rex has a larger and more lethal competitor, and flying Pteranodons pose an even graver threat than some of their land-locked brethren. Jurassic Park III is the first in the series not to be based upon a novel by original author Michael Crichton.

If you go back to the scene where a raptor attacks them in the abandoned lab, he made a beeline for Billy in the cage and Amanda was next to him. He could probably smell the eggs and assumed it was one of those two that had the eggs. Then later when Billy was gone but they could still smell the eggs, that male raptor probably told the female which one he thought stole the eggs. Which she assumed it was Amanda. Seeing as she was next to Billy when the raptor cornered them in the cage.

It's quite remarkable what the passage of time does. During its release, it was pretty much overwhelmingly panned by critics and rejected by fans. 15 years later? The film now has a pretty large number of followers who really enjoy it!

    • @DJ-toblerone
      @DJ-toblerone 5 ปีที่แล้ว +33

It hasn't exactly been re-evaluated by the passage of time. The earliest waybackmachine page from 2004 shows 51% positive critical reviews, which means that half of critics liked it. Now it's slightly lower at 50%. In 2003 on IMDB it was rated 5.7 with 14K votes and that hasn't shifted much, moving 2% higher to 5.9 with a quarter of a million. So the film had a large number of fans during its release too and I don't see any indication that general perspectives of it have changed.

Screw the haters, this movie was the most fun out of the OG trilogy, if people are still mad at T-Rex losing to Spino they should know this: 1. That Spinosaurus wasn't a normal Spino, it was the very first super hybrid Ingen had created before the Indominus Rex even existed, that's why it was so aggressive, so focused on killing the protagonists, way larger than the actual species and far more resilient.
      2. The T-Rex who fought with the Spino was a male juvenile barely half the size of Rexy, that explains why the Spino, a modified hybrid, not only took his bites like a champ but also broke his neck easily.
In the end, you'll be happy to know that in real life and with scientific knowledge it's safe to say that the T-Rex would win in a hypothetical fight most of the time, so people can stop getting butthurt with an outdated scene from decades ago, it was still fun and Spino was badass, end of the story.

In some comments question arises: why the raptors didn't kill humans after getting the eggs? This is my theory:
    Billy said: Call for help.
And Grant attempted that sound. Lets assume it did sound like a call for help. Then at 2:09 the raptors hear helicopters. Since they are pretty smart, they could have assumed that the call for help was heard and now other humans are on the way. Not wanting to risk the eggs in a battle, raptors decided to withdraw.
Also, I'm sure that like most animals, raptors kill when hungry or when territory threaten. Once they got the eggs back, they could have just left, having no reason to kill.

    • @garathwebb3726

Here are a few mistakes I realized that don't make sense during the resonating chamber:1)If the raptors are "smarter than whales and primates",then why do they fall for this? 2)Since all the Dinos in the entire JP franchise are genetic mutants compared to real life dinos, the raptors are different for real life raptors, too.BUT if the raptors standing right in front of them understand the language from that resonating chamber, then that fossil must have come from a genetically engineered raptor. But that makes no sense because that fossil came from a fossilized raptor skull that was 65 millions years old and NO LABRITORIES EXITED THAT LONG AGO!!!!!!!!!!

The raptors in JP3 were, in my opinion, the best the raptors have ever been. They displayed so much more intelligence and communication to the point that you could argue that they had sentience. That level of intelligence, like when they played on human emotion when setting up a trap, is more terrifying and interesting than anything displayed by raptors in the other movies.

I like the alpha females entrance here. Before this we're only shown mere glimpses of her, never really getting to see her personality or her intelligence at work. Here she lets her subordinates surround and contain the humans for her before she makes her approach. She weeds out and deals only with the human female (presumably because she thinks Amanda is the alpha of her group) and has the intelligence to know that the preservation of her eggs is the most important part of this exchange. They could've easily ambushed and killed the humans, her omega even tried to kill them at one point, but she stopped him because they were there for the eggs first. I think this female would've given the Big One from the first film a run for her money intelligence wise, but as far as pure savagery and bloodlust, Big One wins every time. No way the Big One wouldve let these humans go.

I just thought about it, how in the hell did the eggs survive the whole Pteranodon enclosure and the Spinosaurus boat attack. Alan fell from a long ways up into water, jumped into water, swam through water, got attacked by the Spinosaurus and dragged into the water presumably being tossed around and then managed to save the eggs through all of it. Gotta love plot protection

    • @FireLordJohn3191

If those eggs had been shattered, helicopter or no, there are no survivors from this group. Maybe Allan gets away, but he’d be the only one, and he’d have been badly wounded.

I love so much the raptors in this movie, the design and the different sounds they make, it’s just amazing. Love how you can distinguish the males from the females and like some types of birds, these male raptors are more colorful than females. Females are in charge like hyenas or any other predator that hunt in packs. But one of my favorite things is that they do a lot more different sounds than other raptors from other movies in addition of the iconic sounds, they are just amazing and I’m really excited to have them in Jurassic World evolution’s new dlc

Jurassic world took place about 16 years or so after this one. in world, he was in his early thirties late twenties so in the third movie, he was only 15 or 16 ish...still in high school. where as the other characters are already grown. besides, Owen was only good with THOSE raptors in world because he imprinted on them when they were born. these raptors were wild. I think in part 1 Owen would have been around Tim's age. THATS how he can say that, kid!
