One of the best aspects of this movie is to show how driving a "real" racing car can be physically demanding and exausting. And the fact this is a really dangerous sport, makes the journey of that boy even more compeling to watch.
I watched this at the Dolby Cinema Theater at AMC at the Grove last night with my best friend and to our surprise, we were surrounded by fellow GT, Motorsports, and/or just plain old car enthusiasts like ourselves. We both had low expectations for this film going in, because even we thought it was preposterous to make a movie based around GT, but we were both happily blown away by it. First, I'll get this out of the way, in comparison to every Fast & Furious film past the first one because the first one was pretty damn good, this movie beats every single one of them. Now, having followed the real Jann's career in the past, I was happy to see they really showed how much he struggled during training -- it is well catalogued. Sadly they took away one of the funner scenes where before the drivers could drive the cars, they had to PUSH the cars; we both thought that that was a missed comedy moment, but oh well. The movie itself was really good and it honestly got both of our hearts pumping. As a guy who has done several track days in real cars going 120+ mph, I love they took that GT style and made sure each car actually sounded REAL. I find it funny how they used a Tesla Model Y as a chase car, but in a way makes sense since it's quiet and can actually keep pace with a R36 GTR. The relationship between Chief Engineer (David Harbour) and Driver (Archie Madekwe) was well done. I know a lot of people were asking why the relationship wasn't stronger between Jann and his father in the movie, but the thing is, in motorsports and in fact any sport, your coach becomes your second parent. For a Chief Engineer, the life of the driver is in their hands, and that is best seen during the Le Mans pit stop where the pit crew member lost his socket for his drill. Chief Engineers often times act as blocks between corporate bodies like Orlando Bloom and the driver. Overall, it was well done. As a fan of both the simulator and everything that has to do with cars, this film seriously made it on top of my list. However, this is a VERY niche film market and I don't expect it to do well. But it is well worth watching and sadly will likely be an overlooked film.
If this was a Forza movie, the story would be about a kid who always played racing games using a xbox controller and now are really struggling to use a racing wheel 😁
I do hope that someone can produce Wipeout movie like this too. It has a strong back story of industry esponiage, sabotage and fierce underdog racing competition
Going to see Gran Turismo a week early!?!?!? I have never seen a movie a week early before but this will be my first!!!!! JUST GOT MY TICKETS TODAY FOR GRAN TURISMO IM VERY INTRIGUED ABOUT THIS MOVIE!!!! IM GOING TO SEE IT THIS SUNDAY WITH MH DAD!!!!! Never played Gran Turismo but I’m definitely interested!!!!! Hopefully I will like it!!!! :) THEN AFTER THAT ON MONDAY IM GOING TO SEE A CLASSIC DISNEY MOVIE IN THEATERS BEAUTY AND THE BEAST!!!!!!!!! WHICH IM SO LOOKING FORWARD TO!!!! It’s part of Disney 100 re release they are doing!!!! I was born in 98 and the movie came out in 91 so I unfortunately didn’t get to experience it in theaters but that’s about to change!!!!!
I used to play Gran Turismo 3 on PS2, I got all the way up to 98% complete but the F1 races were insanely difficult and I used the pad to get all the way to that position in the game. A few years later I got into Gran Turismo 5 and got pretty far, got the S-Licences and the F1 races I still can't finish, I do have the wheel but no good chair and no good place to stick my wheel at a stable spot. Fighting games is a different story, all I need is a heavy Joystick with a minimum of 6 sturdy spaced out buttons.
I found the story pretty formulaic They should have focused on the love triangle more? Didn't he have a crush on one of the contest competitors as well as Audrey Also the ending is very similar to Rocky (minus the Adrian (Audrey) yell)

My wife and I saw it in IMAX last night and we both really enjoyed it. I didn’t know what to expect going in, but it blew away my expectations.

Sony can make a lot more money if they continued the movie with a tv series with the same actors and directors that will be great in my opinion🙏🏽🤩
