    That's a nice little project. When I did my 2018 Silverado. I did a mild cam, DOD delete, changed the lifters, pushrods, and added a Katech Hi-po oil pump. The L83, and l86 are aluminum everything
    It's great to save weight but not so much for heavy duty driving in the heat, they use oil to cool the bottom of the poaton and sleeves, they eat oil. I switched to a 5w-30 mix and with the heat and my heavy foot, here In Miami, she seems to be happy. But those trucks build with the bailout money have a bunch of faulty parts. I replaced.y AC condenser and did a heavyduty/hi-perf trans rebuild. With a full Sonnax rebuild kit. She is build to hold 1000hp. I'll never push that motor to that. But eventually I'll do a few more upgrades and slap a small snail in there. Have a good one brother. Enjoy 🤙🏾🙏🏾

    One issue is the blower cam has a taller lsa which tends to lose low end power and moves power higher in the rpm.

    • @DAPerform
      @DAPerform  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Most aftermarket cams have a lager split regardless, it might make the same power at 2000 rpm sure but beyond that there’s an increase

    • @Handlehandlebars

    LS7 lifters are a factory lifter... they have a little different design than the stocks but don't offer any performance advantages and maybe a little more durability. A lot of companies make them some cheap some good. Morel and Johnson are some good ones for sure. Lifter preload is the most important thing to dial in for performance. Alot of people just go by the internet for data but exhaust and intake should both be checked with a pushrod length checker. The whole counting turns just isnt very percise imo. Good stuff guys and nice truck!

    • @DAPerform
      @DAPerform  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The counting turns method came from engine builders who had the time and tools to check them precisely. It’s not an exact science obviously but it gets you close enough to work. If this were a high performance engine or built for power then it would be different. Johnson lifters are a good example of that and how tight their preload tolerances compared to factory stuff

I’ve been back and forth on this as I don’t need a big cam and was wondering if the ZR1 cam you did would be ideal for my turbo kit opposed to the Non-Dod Stock L86 cam that Texas speed Offers?

    • @DAPerform

      That first start up sound is on any new complete valve train in an engine . It takes a few seconds to pump all the oil in the places it needs an, to reach the lash set on the lifters. This is common. This is why you use a moly lube( a break in lube on the cam so it doesn’t run dry. This is a excellent video. Would like to see a few more details I.
