Would love to see Dr. Neal Barnard meet with Bernie Sanders. My father was a type 2 diabetic on insulin for 30 years. At 82 years old, and following my certification in plant based nutrition, he finally decided to go on a plant based diet. After a month he was off all insulin - at 82! He's now 83 and is thriving. Thanks to great minds like Dr. Neal Barnard! Imagine the impact on the health care costs in the US. But alas, the money is in sick people...ugh!
There are not enough words in the dictionary to describe how much I adore Dr. Barnard! ❤️I have read every single one of his books and and try my best to watch all of his interviews.
The work of Dr Neal Barnard, Dr. Caldwell Esselstyn, Dr. Joel Furham and Dr. T Colin Campbel is a door to an imminent paradigm shift in health care as regards Non-communicable diseases no only in the west but in developing countries like my own country Tanzania where NCDs are ravaging the emerging middle class. I am 69 year old pediatrician benefiting from whole- plan based diet. My colleague a dentist with diabetes is now enjoying better health . Thanks Dr. Barnard, the four of you deserve nothing less than a Nobel price.
Dr. Barnard is my hero. I first heard him speak on PBS in 2010. I had been a type 2 diabetic (uncontrolled) for several years. His lecture on the cause of diabetes was truly enlightening and I was eager to try his vegan diet solution but I couldn´t give up meat. After a few months of diet failures and rising blood sugars I gave in and started a vegan diet. I weighed 320 pounds, was taking 11 pills a day for the diabetes plus two shots of insulin and a diuretic and lipator. I still had glucose readings in the 180 range. After 7 months on the vegan diet no animal products I lost 65 pounds and my A1C was down to 5.3. and I was taking no medications. I have had ;my ups and downs with the blood sugars but I am really happy being a vegan (occasional pizza not withstanding). I am so glad I ran across DR Barnard His books are great, full of useful information. His lectures are interesting and helpful. Considering all the charlatans online I am glad to have him as a reference and inspiration. I want to thank him publicly for helping me change my life and it is great to know that Type II diabetes can be controlled. This was a great video and a fun interview.
Thank you for the creator of this channel and the good Doctor for your dedication to educating us. Your literally teaching people how to prevent some deadly diseases or how to reverse them. Great public service.
And at the same time, they hide so much crucial information from people. Why do they never tell people what they should supplement with when they advocate for a vegan diet. Nowhere do they have it for free anyway, you need to buy their book to find out how to truly be healthy, should show you something right there. They are in it for the money not for helping
The first time i saw his first TED talk about diabetes, i thought he was a loser and nuts. Now neil bernard sound as the most sensible i ever heard. He didn't change. I did. As has my taste of foods. Change process ge describes is doable and sustainable. Good luck to us all.

I am seriously trying to be strictly plant based now for good. I had been twice in the past. 8 years ago then I got pregnant with my first daughter and 4 years ago and I then got pregnant with my second daughter. My husband and I had been married about 9 years before my first pregnancy. We had just about every infertility test possible and there was 'no reason' that I wasn't able to conceive. But changing my diet changed everything. I tell everyone I know that's struggling in this area to at least give it a try. It certainly won't hurt them and it absolutely could help. Thanks for the info. I will recommend the Body Balance book to people and likely read it myself!

I love Dr Barnard! He keeps at it, educating the public on plant-based eating without preaching. He’s so gentle and thoughtful in his approach...🙏🏼🙌🏼🙌🏼I want to introduce him to all of my meat-eater friends. 👍🏼 Btw, I used to have horrible cramps leading up to my period in my 20s and 30s. After going plant-based a couple of years ago, I literally don’t know when my period is coming bc I have almost zero PMS!

That is wonderful to hear about the new book! No one really talks as much about hormone imbalances, especially since they're seen more as a "women's issue." I remember Dr. Greger making a joke about PMDD in one of his videos, for instance. I look forward to reading the book :)

Caffeine is bad and he knows it, he just didn’t want to go off on that tangent. That’s okay. I’ve been vegan for about 35 years and back then I had to be closeted about it. I did let people know I didn’t eat meat. I actually never did. So glad when I was a kid in the 60s my parents were great about this.
People hear the very word "vegan" and all they can think of is bean sprouts and tofu. Labels discourage people from trying to get rid of animal products. Veganism is teaching me (a whole three weeks into wfpb) that tastes change as we give up the old foods. I am tasting more now. Foods have a more intense flavor. Who ever thought one could get excited over a slice of cucumber? A big salad with all kinds of stuff in it is marvelous, and I relish it many times more than I would have a burger and fries. Something changes when we give up animal products. I don't know what it is, and I didn't expect it. A whole new appreciation and love for the foods I am now eating. I have a theory that eating the standard American diet dulls our tastes somehow, or trains them, anyway. I wish we could come up with new terms, because I, like so many, have been suffering with fibromyalgia, fatigue, foot problems, digestive issues, bloating and overweight. That is a partial list. I don't have a choice any more. I have not been well, and I don't want to spend the rest of my days on this earth feeling so awful. The choice has been taken away from me, and that is fine, because I am already feeling better. This is a lifestyle, and it is a better way to go than the other way. I look forward to dropping the weight, eating great food, and getting the energy back that I used to have. I hope some of the pain will subside, as well. If you are sick of being sick, you have nothing to lose.
Love that he said a rat. They really are cute.... except their tails. I didn’t realise he had a new book.... And he is so right about food and hormone imbalance. Great interview!
