- There are many obscure and really weird official Mario games out there. Games like Mario’s fundamentals , Hotel Mario, the virtual boy games, or that one time they abused the mario brand to teach kids typing. All of those games are super weird, and, to be honest most of them are among the worst games nintendo ever released. But all those obscure Mario games also kind of raise a question. Which of these really bad Mario Games is actually the worst one?
So I sat down and started to investigate this question, I played dozens over dozens of hours of really weird Mario games, all in the hopes to find out which game featuring Mario is the worst one ever released. And I pretty quickly came to a realization. There is way too much going on in these games to cover all of them in a single video. So instead of answering the eternal question which Mario game is the absolute worst one, in a single video, we are going to do this in a small mini series, where we take a closer look at some of nintendo’s weirdest moments, starting today, with the fascinating game, Mario’s Time Machine.

What if the Notes Sheet was actually Bowser's adoptive son, Ludwig's first composition, and being so proud of his son, hung it up on the Fridge only for Mario to mistake it, and give it to some random guy with the same name?

the egg minigame probably is a catch minigame where you have to take the eggs to the hole, if you get hit by a rocket it probably destroys all eggs currently holding in marios arms. If you clicked enough eggs into the hole yoshi's comes and you win.
Without animations though, I have to play it a little bit to understand if this is the game.
Yah I was thinking that. since if you look it seems he collects the egg RIGHT before clicking on the nest, so one 'hit him' then yoshi appeared.. so gotta collect said falling eggs for the nest.

Is it possible to beat Mario's Time Machine without being disappointed?
Yes. All you have to do is start with sufficiently low expectations. This is far easier said then done, but once you have done so, the rest should be fairly simple.

You can't blame the lack of instructions since this was released during a time when reading the instruction booklet was expected and taken for granted. As for the lack of challenge, that's the whole point of educational games.

Ceave, in that exact moment: It's so unbelievably slow, that I doubt anyone would ever do a speedrun of this ... Yeah nevermind.
For the minigame, it seems that mario has to take the eggs in what he carries, and the bullets stop him so he can't take eggs, I think that if you have enough eggs, Yoshi appears and you can exit the minigame, just suppositions of course.

I had the SNES version as a kid. Ceave's initial reactions mirrored mine every time I tried to play it. I never figured out what to do, and the only screens I ever saw were the artifact room, time machine, and surfing game.
This video was a lot of fun! I'm looking forward to the others in this series. I'm so curious about the other obscure Mario games!

When I'd port some game like this, I'd consider using the SNES because of its higher calculation power, bigger storage, better sound chip and vast possibilities like HDMA, F7-Mode or Color Windows.
But as we now know, less powerful hardware is totally capable of running better games!
@@PhilippHorwat Yeah, i thought of using snes, you could make the game look almost exactly like the original. But with the nes it's a bit more simple(no pun intended), and it's more fun trying to cram all of the game with so little speed and rom.
As for the sound chip, i'm making this with only emulators in mind, so maybe i'll use the VRC6 or other audio chips
And by the way, as the game only updates every music beat instead of every frame(on most things), you have a lot more time calculate enemy AIs and other math stuff

Well the answer is actually surprisingly simple
It is simple, just don't port your sucky game to a first generation console when the *3rd* generation is being geared up for release.

Yea he found that the nest was supposed to be clickable but it wouldn’t let him because he didn’t have any eggs.
I think you can actually see him accidentally get an egg right before he clicks on it at the end.

You all realize that the piano isn’t the only instrument Beethoven can play, right? To claim that he could only see Beethoven as anything other than a piano player as a joke, is as true as telling people he watched Harry Potter but only knows The Borrowers as a film Tom Felton acted in.
Even as a joke, he had less excuse to fail Piano than to fail his birth year.
They could of just recycled "Mario is Missing" NES version into Mario's time machine and it would of been a much better looking game

Yeah, I've played Mario's Time Machine on the SNES, having rented it from some video store somewhere nearby back then. I had made some progress, but never completed it.
(5:32) If you've already time-travelled to the appropriate time period, and then you make 3 mistakes in a row on the fill-in-a-blank tests, then the game boots you back to Bowser's Castle. Also, if you make 1 or 2 mistakes, but then you close the notebook and reopen it, the frowny faces disappear, and your mistake count is reset. I abused this fact a lot, before realizing I could just brute-force everything while still in Bowser's Castle.
I'd love to see a couple extra videos using the leftover research. A Mario Miscellany episode somewhere at the end of this series.
