  • In this video we discuss the fourth stanza of the poem including the blaze!
In 2010, Forrest Fenn, a retired antiquities dealer based in Santa Fe, N.M., bought an antique bronze chest and filled it with valuables and artifacts worth between $1 million and $2 million and hid it somewhere in the mountains north of Santa Fe. He then released a poem containing nine clues as to the treasure’s whereabouts.

I agree the blaze will remain an enigma until the chest is found because the blaze just confirms you're by the treasure. Maybe something he painted right above the treasure.
One point though - Fenn keeps saying two can keep a secret if one's dead. He said that right after the poem in TTOTC. Ben Franklin said in Poor Richard's Almanac, "three may keep a secret if two are dead". To be wise, wouldn't you be early to bed and early to rise as Ben Franklin also said? You'd also be wealthy if you found the chest.
My take is to look east as you're walking along a creek to see the blaze which could just be a small painting of the sun. Early to bed early to rise makes a man healthy wealthy and wise. Searching after dark may be bad for your health. Good luck and STAY SAFE!!

The blaze is used in past tense so it could be something you’ve began or found earlier in in the poem, it’s just being brought up again as a confirmation you’re on the right track. Just my thoughts as a possibility.

That could be, but what about "look quickly down"? When would we look quickly down? It is certainly a riddle.

Great points. I do believe where ever this hiding place is located, it cannot be seen directly and only the "blaze" when seen is a marker for the location. But I do believe it is in a heavy forest area by a well visited location with a stream and lake/pond. It will be a cold place too so the altitude must be higher that 7K. I plan to visit in summer to a place in Mexico. Side note update: Wondering if aspen trees in forest area could be a blaze, as they stand out from the usual trees.

I had given some thought to it being a trail tree also. Possibly a blaze on a Native American trail on route to where warm waters halt.

Hi Goldilocks! No I don't think we can know the blaze before we going looking for it, but I think we will recognize it when we see it! Thanks for watching!

Come on.. Lets go, I know where it is...
I believe your theory around 9:45 to be spot on... The second line in the poem "and with my treasure bold". notice the word BOLD.. I believe he's was telling us there were people around, and if there were people around how did he get the treasure in.. A bank bag?? I think not... I think Forrest took the treasure (a million dollars) to the site in a backpack.. This would also explain the two trips, as 42 lbs in a backpack would be hard on ones back.. This also makes me think it's not going to be real easy to get the treasure out without two trips and a backpack..

You're right! On 8/25/14 this was posted on Mysterious Writings:
Mr. Fenn, When you made the two trips from your car to hide the chest and the gold, did you carry it openly in your hands or in some type of bag or backpack?
.I did both. It was a special time of fulfillment for me and I can still sense now, the elation I felt then. It’s the only time I recall laughing out loud at myself. Hiding that treasure chest full of gold and jewels was fundamental to how I feel about living life to its stretched best, and it emphasizes my aversion to seeing anyone be a spectator to today’s opportunities.f
      Thanks for watching, Race Bannon!

We have looked into/studied probably 8 different areas. Rio Chama was promising and not ruled out, but my favorite is our current solve. It checks many boxes! As for clue 4. I didn't think it was easy. Have some fresh eyes look at it and remember, Shannon said you can find all the answers with Google! It's so fun!
