This quote always troubled me. For the longest time I assumed it eliminated Yellowstone, but the last part always seemed a slight contradiction. Your explanation with Jack's answers makes a lot of sense. Besides, Forrest always said his poem was straight forward. My first solve was in Yellowstone, before I over thought everything.
I am in the same camp. The chase is not over. Agree. In fact, figuring out the correct clues and putting them to a physical place (as Jack, has indicated, that the clues are physically things).
Further support for the location being Yellowstone is that it would also explain Jack's reluctance to provide more location details. To actually admit it was inside Yellowstone and he removed it could open him up to the government getting involved. Now that Mr. Finn has passed, Jack can say he found it just about anywhere he likes. There is no one that can dispute his story. (Two people can keep a secret if one of them is dead) Even if Jack is ever legally required to provide the exact location I am not sure that will end it. I am afraid even then we will not be certain if it is the true location or just a site with the least legal entanglements to his ownership. He potentially has more to lose by revealing the actual site, if in fact it was Yellowstone.
Except there is nothing anyone can do about it if it was left in the park. Forrest or anyone else can leave a treasure on public property (YNP). Excellent analysis. I love your videos... sweet and to the point! Since I am a believer that the chest was hidden in YNP, I always thought this quote was his way of covering his butt. Not to mention, there are oodles of places in YNP where you may leave the trail, or not use a trail. Thermal areas with boardwalks and fragile and/or dangerous ground are examples where you must stay on the trail or boardwalk. Therefore, FF probably did not hide the treasure in a "dangerous place", which he said he did not.

@@justinfields6408 Ty for your reply. Yes, I know to drive a car there. I was determining how Forrest may be trying to tell us how he went to the location in bygone days when it was special to him, before he drove in later years to hide the chest. IMHO it is about camping.
No one has ever solved the logistical problem of hiding a treasure in Yellowstone. Forrest either told a fib or the treasure was not in Yellowstone. He said he left in the morning and got back in the evening (He also mentions that he was at home in Santa Fe)and Peggy didn't even know he had gone anywhere. Everyone overlooks the older clues that Forrest first gave. Take all the clues and eliminate locations based on every clue until you only have one solve that fits them all. You cannot go to Yellowstone and back, rent a car and hide a treasure in one day, not in the fastest plane. Forrest also knew if a treasure was hidden in Yellowstone that it could cause grief to the finder and possibly himself. He talked about land issues and mentioned that he had consulted an attorney and who ever found the treasure was legally entitled to it. Another reason the treasure was not buried but rather hidden. All about the laws of treasure trove. It wasn't hidden in Yellowstone.
Thanks for the comment. I don't believe I've ever seen a quote from FF in which he says that he traveled from Santa Fe and returned to Santa Fe on the same day that he hid the treasure. That seems incredibly unlikely given that the chest was hidden in Wyoming. Also, according to Jack, FF hid the chest at some point during a trip to Cody, WY for an event at the Buffalo Bill Center of the West. So, you have to consider that FF likely spent time at the Center for the event as well, making a same-day return trip to Santa Fe even less likely.
Forrest said he hid it in one afternoon & that Peggy did not know when he had hidden the treasure. He never said he left home hid the treasure and returned the same day either. You folks gotta stop reading into stuff so much and focus on the poem and TTOTC
@@brigginspa You sure made me wait for that reply! Hah! I'm sure there are a healthy number of solves throughout the Rockies that require some form of travel other than walking. In my opinion, there is no risk to sharing that info. I think Jack also confirmed somewhere else that "worth the cold" meant that you had to get wet, so you could infer that wading/swimming or shimmying through a waterfall is probably involved. :)
I would lay money on the quote that annoyed and finally pleased Jack was when Forrest said "Simplify if you can." That quote didn't seem helpful in the least because simple is subjective. After I figured out the solution in May of 2020, it made complete sense. At the location is a U right above ground. The poem started at this precise spot and stopped here. As the years went by Forrest started using the word you more heavily in his replies.
I just read an article on Daily Mail (7/6/21) about this "find" titled, "French treasure hunter is suing Forrest Fenn's estate for $10million after claiming he was cheated out of finding hidden chest filled with gold and coins because it was MOVED after he solved clues revealing its location" In the article is says the finder, Jack Stuef, is a MI native and that he found the treasure in WY but stored the treasure "in a vault in New Mexico". Why NM? That made me curious so I looked and found this article thecinemaholicdotcom site.."Who Found the Fenn Treasure? Where is Jack Stuef Now?" The article says "As for where he is now, it seems like Jack is continuing with his studies as a Michigan resident, where he prefers to stay detached from the spotlight." Again, the question, why NM? The Daily Mail article says the French treasure hunter "Bruno Raphoz claims in a lawsuit for $10million filed in the U.S. District Court in New Mexico ". How did NM get into the middle of this? Why did Stuef store the treasure so far from his home? Very curious....at least for me, it is. This whole treasure thing is new for me. It's New Mexico as the storage place that made me comment. (I just looked for the most recent youtube video on this...Justin, you were it, as far as I could see.)
It's my understanding that Jack recovered the chest in WY, and then drove the following day to Santa Fe, New Mexico to meet with Forrest. You may have seen photos of Jack and FF sitting around a table with the chest and its contents on display. These photos were taken in Santa Fe (where FF lived). Then, before returning to his home in MI, Jack stored the chest in a vault in Santa Fe, and he said it would remain there until he sells it. I suspect he stored it in Santa Fe to avoid the inconvenience (and possible danger) of traveling by plane with a heavy chest filled with gold and jewelry. I suppose he could've driven the distance from NM back to MI, but my take is that Jack is more interested in his and his family's security and didn't want to travel with the chest any more than he absolutely had to.
@@justinfields6408 Thanx for your very prompt reply! That Forrest lived in NM went right over my head (kinda feel like Jeff Dunham's Peanut character). Have a blessed day, Justin.

Forrest well understood words because he was an author and an avid reader. What surprised me throughout The Chase and even now are how most searchers don't have a decent grasp on the English language. You destroyed the quote you gave as an example because you changed Forrest's word of proximaty to proximity. There was a human trail close. The spot marked the edge of the highway. It's why he said he liked to bounce off of the curbs instead of going down the centerline. It was also on the edge of Yellowstone. And the canyon begins here too. Jack was an astute reader because of his writing career so he should be horse whipped for destroying Forrest's quote when replying to a searcher who asked about Dal being close because of the email Forrest sent him after a trip. Jack purposely changed proximaty to proximity to avoid having to truthfully answer the question.

Mr. Forrest Fenns special place it will teach us about ourselves
Very good. Ty for your synopsis & videos. A specific type of Rental is impt. to the location, imho.⭐
I asked Jack whether his rental was actually a regular car (and not a jeep, 4x4, etc.). He said it was a car.
@@justinfields6408 Ty for your reply. Yes, I know to drive a car there. I was determining how Forrest may be trying to tell us how he went to the location in bygone days when it was special to him, before he drove in later years to hide the chest. IMHO it is about camping.
@@KSilentfilm Ah, I see.
@@justinfields6408 Jack or Forrest?
@@michaelbowers2647 Jack said this about the vehicle that he himself used.
Good luck this season as the full time starting QB for Da Bears.
@@justinfields6408 yes, that is correct...
It was actually the answer about any form of transportation besides walking. Wading across the Madison is NFBYFTW.
Possibly, though FF's answer about forms of transportation doesn't give away much about a specific search area.
@@justinfields6408 It does though. It can rule out solves that have form of transportation that can't be construed as walking.
Is that a hoverboard in the background?
It is indeed.
I just read an article on Daily Mail (7/6/21) about this "find" titled,
"French treasure hunter is suing Forrest Fenn's estate for $10million after claiming he was cheated out of finding hidden chest filled with gold and coins because it was MOVED after he solved clues revealing its location"
In the article is says the finder, Jack Stuef, is a MI native and that he found the treasure in WY but stored the treasure "in a vault in New Mexico".
Why NM? That made me curious so I looked and found this article thecinemaholicdotcom site.."Who Found the Fenn Treasure? Where is Jack Stuef Now?"
The article says "As for where he is now, it seems like Jack is continuing with his studies as a Michigan resident, where he prefers to stay detached from the spotlight."
Again, the question, why NM?
Forrest also said most people get the first two clues correct. Most people think warm water halt is Old Faithful.
Because it is WWWH...
@Justin Fields Funny how you gloss over the facts, such as:
1) No forensic proof that the email exchange occurred. You have screenshots but no email header/source to prove when and how it was sent.
2) Forrest was dead and cannot comment on the validity. Considering there is NOTHING in those fake pictures of the chest half buried that reveals Jack or the location, there is no reason why FF would not have released those email pictures on 6/16/2020 when he released the ONLY picture of the chest (not buried, not in a hole) .
3) Forrest Fenn stated that IF it was found in a national park, the FINDER WOULD BE REQUIRED to turn the chest in to the park superintendent. Show me where this happened. Where is the evidence that the park super was aware? There is none...
4) Sarah Davis said "It is on land managed by the Department of the Interior that does NOT have the infrastructure to handle large numbers of tourists". Ok, well the DOI manages: National Parks, Indian Land, BLM Land, Fish and Wildlife (reservoirs and reclamation sites) and National Forests. Yellowstone HAS the infrastructure to handle large (millions) numbers of tourists. Basically she ruled Yellowstone OUT IMO, but she did not say (nor did ANY official say) it was in a national park. This is an ILLEGAL place (fact).
5) If Jack solved it in 2019, explain why Forrest emailed Dal in DECEMBER 2019 and then again in MARCH 2020 saying he wanted to call off the chase and pull the chest. He would NOT do this if he knew it was found in 2019
6) ALL this happened AFTER Fenn was dead, why?
7) No poem solution fits Nine Mile Hole at all. They don't have one, it is 100% based on speculation and unproven evidence.
So, where is this "evidence"? LOL... Did it ever occur to you that the Nooker gang CREATED "TheCondor2" and also spoofed the emails fooling everyone who is UNAWARE of the forensic evidence in email headers?
I don't mean to sound like a jerk, but enough with this crap. Nobody (including myself) has proven ANYTHING. Until that day comes, we have nothing. But 9MH is seriously the absolute worse solve I have ever seen and pushed by the most untrustworthy people in the community who claimed to have "inside knowledge" for years, basically making it look like FF compromised the chase for a bunch of gold diggers. Not likely.
Jack purposely changed proximaty to proximity to avoid having to truthfully answer the question.
this guy got Marty's hoverboard back there!?
