Then says "IT'S YOUR MOMENT TO DIE!" Then the shinigami says "It's you..It's you the one who's going to die.". So this is completely different..
I like the manga ending to be honest. The anime ending is too overdramatic that Mikami died by a fucking pen (How was that possible?) And then Light ran away like a coward and hallucinating himself if he didn't get a Death Note in the first place. In the manga, he was crawling and begging Ryuk to not to die and then he got a heart attack and said: "Damn!"
I prefer the anime ending more. While it does have some hokey moments (I prefer that Miami stabbed himself with an actual knife he hidden instead if a pen), I felt that the story came full circle with Light going out somewhat sympathetically. In the beginning and middle, he was a decent person and wasn't corrupted. He did have an ego but many youths have that. Upon getting absolute power, he became corrupted. In the end of the anime, he becomes mentally fragmented and is scared and sad, a reminder that he is a human after all. In what I consider the climax of the story, him seeing his peaceful younger self who didn't become kira ultimately drove home the point that he was once a good man who fell to the dark side and that he could have lived a better life had he discarded the death note from the very beginning.
"Nearly all men can stand adversity, but if you want to test a man’s character, give him power." -Robert Ingersoll This is what I thought throughout the whole anime. When Light lost his memory, he was a caring dude with principles like being against manipulation or hurting women, but that all changed with the Death Note in hand.
Yeah. Pretty sure the Death God actually corrupted him as soon as he touched the book. If not intentionally, then by his mere presence. A being with that kind of power can break a mind that isn't ready to experience It.
What? He didn’t return to his innocent self the acts he commuted were all his choice he wouldn’t of done it without the death note but his ideals align with Kira normally. The only reason he wouldn’t do these things without the death note is he wouldn’t have the power to do so
He's actually afraid of death, he breaks down when he realized he will die and can't do anything about it. Some scenes are missing like when light is freaking out over dying and begs for ryuk to spare him.
Imagine if they had kept the manga ending with Light crawling on the floor bleeding out as he begs for Ryuk's help, losing all composure, and then desperately begging for his own life for the short 40 seconds he has left after seeing ryuk write his name. Now that would have been something

Well ofc the anime was going to be dead without him because he is the -protagonist- main character, I’m glad he died, he was nothing but a serial killer, maybe if he never got the death note I would have liked him better, he had a bright future and threw it all away because he thought he can change the world, ig he was just a foolish human who thought he can change the world
There were some times when he was Light, but I think mostly he was Kira. But at the end, when he was on the staircase, I’m pretty sure he was Light. A human. Like everyone else.

I feel rlly bad for him. He had such a bright future being smart and kind. But then it got ruined cause of the death note. He got so wrapped up in killing people that he ruined his life. It’s just like L and his dad said, people who get the power to kill people are unlucky.

This hurts me so damn much, man. Light was a bright scholar who had an amazing future ahead of him, but the power corrupted him from inside out to the point he started seeing other people as humans and himself as a god.
"useless fools, as if they could ever understand". This character was just perfectly written. Like damn death note is an amazing story we've witnessed in this world.
I still don't understand how Light could be so brilliant and yet don't understand that evil is a single force, and killing the ones who commit it won't eradicate it, because it emerges from the system itself, and the system in which we now live comes from human nature and over 100,000 years of historical events. Simply killing those that do bad is like putting a band-aid to a skin cancer. In that sense, I get what Near says. He's not a God, he's just a murderer.
The “no you’re just a crazy murderer” line is so good because Light should have heard this a long long time ago. He was never really doing the “right” thing even if he was reducing violence in the world because ultimately he was doing something far worse than them by mass murdering millions. He was just sinking deeper and deeper into a delusion that he is “justice” and by the end of it, people were getting killed if someone asked for it online, or anyone voicing that they don’t like what he’s doing were getting killed, or anyone standing in his way whatsoever were being murdered. They even said at some point on the news that “anyone” could be his victim now and everyone should be worried. He was, from very early on, already becoming a delusional and power hungry psycho killer
this scene is so damn good. i come back to it time and time again just to hear the laugh and his deranged commentary- rip light, though deserved, he was a cool character
I hate light a lot, but his death scene makes me so sad, even in the comic where he’s basically panicking till the end, I just felt really sorry for him. It’s sad to me because he knows for a fact that there’s nothing after that, but then again he sent so many people to their death as well

In the manga, he was crawling and begging Ryuk to not to die and then he got a heart attack and said: "Damn!"
@@margarethmichelina5146 the part where they showed high schooler Light made it even emotional but for the others I agree
They had to spice it up and make it different from the manga, it is an anime adaptation after all
idk when i commented this but tbh i liked the manga way more
I prefer the anime ending more.

This is what I thought throughout the whole anime.

Light Yagami returned to his innocent self when he is about to die. That means evil spirit within him has tricked him
@@ItsJavaJawa light: please spare me ryuk: no!
possibly I think its up to interpretation if the Death Note made him evil or if he was just evil from the start
Imagine if they had kept the manga ending with Light crawling on the floor bleeding out as he begs for Ryuk's help, losing all composure, and then desperately begging for his own life for the short 40 seconds he has left after seeing ryuk write his name. Now that would have been something
I honestly love both endings but I wish I could have seen that animated. At least there's a similar take in the musical
Death note would have dropped to atleast 7/10 ratings because that would ruin light's charecter.. death note ratings have already went down for just this anime ending

Cant blame Light. He's been holding that laugh for 6 years.

Ryuk told him that the death note changes the heart of humans.
00:41 --> this sounds really satisfying to the ears.
I'm glad when I see comments like this. Too many "Light did nothing wrong" weirdos out there.
