He settled outside KC Wyoming and had a ranch there. He was married and had 5 children. His oldest son Ned Lidoux is traveling with his dad band. Ned was also a part of the band for some time. Ned has written some of his own songs and also performs some of Chrisses songs. Chris has always been in my top five country western singers. Chris songs seem to have a positive message. His songs always lift me up. Love your reviews as always. Keep it up.

You cannot say a bad thing about Chris Ledoux, whether in life or his music.
Guy was as sure and as genuine as a stone.
I love his son Neds music as well.
He's carrying on that honest, genuine, country boy style.
To the guy on the channel, I like how you realize that and appreciate the honesty in his music.

Always enjoy his songs...this guy does real country! Mr. LeDoux was born in Miss. because his Dad was stationed there in the Air Force but his people are from Wyoming. He visited his grandparents and learned riding and ranching until he moved back home for high school. I know the other states have clouds and stars but its nothing like how you'll see them in the West. Get west of Dallas past the dryline and the stars seem to be right on top of you. The clear skies and the airborne dust also produce sunsets like you've never seen! Its not sentiment, it's just mother nature... Yeah, Chris has a nice way of sayin' things but not someone you'd want to want to get cornered with.

Loved the values and just about everything about the state but unfortunately real estate is not cheap. Glad you got back to your home...will this be your last move?

    Always love Chris.
Got to have a beer with him between sets in Stillwater when I was in college there.
He was a real life good and genuine guy.
Me and my buddies couldn’t believe it when he came and sat down at our table.
Bought him a beer and we bullshitted for that 15 minutes.
    That was in 1989.

    Great song!
Just thought I'd point out that, yes Chris was born in Biloxi, Mississippi. His father was in the Air Force, stationed at Keesler Air Force Base. They moved around quite a bit, due to his Air Force service, so Chris was not a lifelong Mississippian, although he would have been welcomed with open arms. From what I've able to learn about Chris, he was a solid guy all the way around. He was what we in the South would call a good ole boy, one of the highest compliments to be paid to a Southern man.

Love Chris LeDoux! I got to see him open for Garth Brooks in 97!!

  • @randall-king
    @randall-king 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

Garth Brooks opened for Chris LeDoux in Garth’s early days, and Garth said that he based a lot of his live show and energy off LeDoux. He said it was clear that LeDoux and his band were there to have more fun than the audience. Garth took that and ran with it, and it’s obviously worked out for him.
In Garth’s first single “Much Too Young” from 1989, there’s a line about a “worn out tape of Chris LeDoux, lonely women, and bad booze”. When Garth sang that live, one would often hear him exclaim “God bless Chris LeDoux!” after that line. I’m not sure if he still does that after Chris’s passing.

He was a military brat from Wyoming and so am I. What he says about Western Skies is completely true. No matter where we were stationed, I always wanted to go back to the mountains and the open sky. Check out his version of "Song of Wyoming" on his album "Cowboy" from 2000. His music is mostly from the Western tradition as opposed to the Country tradition but he melds the two well. Another good Western musician is Jon Chandler. "Through the Gap" is about the Hole In The Wall gang. "Spanish Peaks" is about the Spanish Peaks in southern Colorado. These are off Chandler's Sepia Soul album.

I just left a comment on another reaction asking them to review this. Chris wasn't a vocalist but a story teller. Thank you for doing you research on him and bringing up his rodeo acolades. He isn't so much country as he is Western. He was actually shunned by Nashville for his cowboy songs they were looking "80's" for something different. He stayed true to himself. I think Western Skies embodies Chris Ledoux a Wyoming Cowboy.
Now, if your hooked on storytelling try "bucking machine" or "Photo finish"

You said it correct we have a lot of ledoux's in Louisiana and that's how we pronounce it and spell it. Btw his son has continued on the same path as his dad. He was his dad's drummer but now moved up front and writes and sings cowboy music like his dad.

He was born in Mississippi. What's his dad was an Air Force officer they move their lot as kids. When they move to Wyoming he got the cowboy bug badly and David everything Cowboy related singing bronc riding and even getting into the occasional fight at the local bar. He may have been born in Mississippi but he is widely considered to be from Wyoming. He loved the state he loved everything about the lifestyle and the majority of his songs are dedicated to the state and its lifestyle

Being born in Long Beach, California, with my parents from over here in NE South Dakota, and living in Alaska from age two until age 28, and also having traveled through all of the western and midwest states at one time or another, I can totally attest to the lovely countrysides and the feeling of freedom in them, for the most part. On the other hand, I sure love the pictures I've seen of all the other states, too, and would LOVE to get to visit them all!
I loved listening to the song. NICE! Thanks for the reaction, Don!
