    Really want to try these after seeing this - the lower alcohol also gives me confidence that everything will be in balance here and nothing will be overdone.

      He manages balance even when the alcohols are higher… This producer particularly is a sure bet. Hard to get, though! Will do a video on the upcoming 2023 release in July.

    Great review Erin! Crossing my fingers you’ll review the 2023 vintage sacred sites!

      Looking forward to that! I’m visiting Tyrrells in July, so might even do the video there 🙌🏼

    Many old vine wines show that pinosity. Love the style.
    "Red jelly snakes" is by far the winning wine comment of 2023 and unlikely to be topped.

    Great review Erin, as usual. I’m lucky enough to get all four of these wines plus the Vat 9 in my annual subscription to the Tyrrell’s Private Bin Club. They are amazing wines and showcase the Hunter vintage’s and individual vineyard gloriously. Keep up the fantastic videos. Thanks.

      Thanks very much for watching, Bill. You’ve got great taste, clearly!

    I’m lucky enough to be a Private Bin member and these wines are ridiculous value. The Sem’s get all the Press but Hunter Shiraz flies under the radar. The 4 Acres is consistently the pick of the bunch.

      I was hard pressed to choose between it and the 8 Acres. Both sensational. All of them, actually

    It was a great review Erin!
    I was with a group of friends tasting 2014, 2017, 2018, 2019 & 2021 old patch. They are great wine and I feel like they are so underrated. I love the 2018 the most so far.

      14 is also pretty sensational!

    Yes, thrilled to see your endorsement for the paper label Tyrrell's! Unfortunately for me the bottles are already buried away, so I'll have to savour these words for a decade of waiting 😅.
    Should we expect a mountain series from MtP?

      I couldn’t say either way, re the MtP question: what makes you ask?

    hi Erin, how does Blood show in Wine? is it a kind of iron taste?

    • @erinlarkin
      @erinlarkin  ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Yes, absolutely. For me, it’s a shorter way than expressing ‘ironstone, ferrous/rust, iodine, copper’ etc. it is (although not exclusively) an attribute of red wines grown in ironstone/red gravel. When the wines are picked at circa 13 baume, ie ~13.5% alcohol, the ‘blood’ character often accompanies and red fruit/red lolly fruit character.

    Hunter shiraz is massively underrated full stop. I feel like its a really 'unsexy brand' in Australian wine unfortunately.

    • @erinlarkin
      @erinlarkin  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yet, so sexy in the glass!

      Because the sweaty saddle aromatic that was common in the 70s did a lot to put drinkers off.
