- In this video I review the Lihit Lab Smart Fit A5 Notebook Cover in Olive color. This is a great notebook cover with lots of pockets and compartments, a pen holder and several very nice features. It was a generous gift from a pen friend! I find this cover to be durable, affordable and very versatile. It's rugged and accommodates a lot of supplies plus a full size smart phone.

Great review. I looked at these over a year ago. But then Boho Berry showed us her digital journals and I started that one because I could edit it so easily. Another reason I went digital is my grandkids are 5 hours away so I travel by train to visit them. I always take my iPad with me so it was easier to go digital, for me ( books, journal, planner internet all in one place).
Hi Betty -- I admire digital skills!!! Especially when I'm dragging a really heavy backpack thru airports!!!!! :) I just never use anything other than my "note" app on my phone for lists - and even with that I forget to look in there sometimes. I do carry a lightweight Kindle around for reading because I like how it works better than the app on my phone. :)
I don't have one of these notebooks, but I have always appreciated the design. It looks durable and the pockets seem useful, which isn't always the case with these types of notebooks. I'm a fan of Lihit Lab - their products are always so cleverly designed.
Hi Gadgetstop321 - they are great products for sure and good value!
You’ve convinced me, I just ordered one. I love my lihitlab pencil cases so I’m sure I will love this. Thanks for the recommendation!
Hi Ben - I think you'll really like it! :) Hope so!
Love your line, 'Take it out for exercise.' Clever, and so true. 😄 Chris, I find your reviews truly helpful. If there is a product I am considering getting, I always check to see if you have reviewed it. I appreciate that your reviews are clear, informative, and well organized, so I feel I can judge how the item will work for me.
Hi Michael -- that line comes from a dear pen friend Michelle Reine! She is always saying that ! Thank you very much - I'm glad the reviews are helpful! :)
Thank you so much for this review! I've been looking at journal covers, but they can get really expensive. I think I'll get this one in orange! Cheaper price with tons of pockets? Perfect!
Hi Tiffany - these are really functional and well made too! I think you'll enjoy it - orange is a great color too!!!!
Thank you so much for posting these videos! I've been looking at reviews on your channel and I love the look of this so was easy to buy once I saw your review!
Hi Lewis James Art! Awesome!
I just got one in the mail for my journal! I love it already. Thank you for the review.
That's wonderful I hope you enjoy it!!!!
Hi Chris - great review! I have one in the same colour as yours, and I really like it. You’ve given me some new ideas about how to use the little inside pockets. I love the Lihit pencil cases too, (like the one you showed) and have used them for several years. They still look brand new - their products are very sturdy, and are a great buy.
Hi Vicki -- they are such well made products!
Good and thorough review!
Hi Chris, just received my cover and I absolutely love it and can’t wait to start using it. Thanks again for the review. Bev
Hi Bev - Awesome - I hope you enjoy it as much as I love mine!!!!
This olive color looks so cool
AhNow. How the heck does this happen!
I've been using Lihit Lab notebook cover for ages now and ended up buying another couple. I use the A5 orange one at work for keeping a notebook in and also made a range of pocket inserts which I use for leaflets and contacts lists for use when interviewing clients.
I also got a B5 one by mistake and am currently using it for journaling - though I'm not sure how well that will work for me - it's probably a bit too big. I could use it to organise correspondence instead. But I ordered a couple of B5 notebooks which have Grrreat paper and they need to be used up! ... you know what I mean!
I adapted each of the covers by sewing elastic cords to the spine to hold notebooks and custom made card inserts a la TN, and that really works for me.
I also use the Lihit Lab (orange) pen case at work and home - it has my phone, about 6 FPs, 6in ruler, propelling pencil, rubber, thumb sticks, charging cables and my wireless mouse. The mouse had a tendency to leap out in a bid for freedom but I have now added another little pocket sleeve to hold it a bit more safely.
I think that LL is a great brand ... and I'm really not a brand person at all. Their designs seem versatile, robust, colourful and economic - suits me to a T!
I'm a sucker for these sorts of things though! :-)
Hi Margret -- I noticed the bigger ones have 2 pen slots! I'm also a sucker for all things notebook related! :) I love the idea of sewing elastic in to hold notebook inserts!!!!!
@@ChrisSaenz13 It works! ... and although these notebook covers are already versatile, it makes them even more so, because you can - frinstance - have one (or a couplea) slim book/s and several card folder inserts for whatevva yu want. And since THEY are easy to make at home, you can totally customise! And it's easy to change the configuration any time you need. I'm a sucker for changing the configuration, too! :)
Thank you Chris for the video! I was curious as to what your take on this would be. Wonderful review I will definitely have to add this to my wishlist 😊
Hi Ann -- this turned out to be something I never would have bought myself but ended up being a favorite!
I have one of these in black, love how easy to use it is and how much I can get into it.
Hi AdzPower! They are great!!!!
Do the pockets make it hard to write on? Bumpy? How well does your bullet journal lay flat?
Hi Anita!!! Welcome! I take the pen out of the front when I write in it and it lays flat very well - no bumps! I'm in the last 1/3 rd of my bullet journal so I don't have any issues with the cover on that I don't have with it off.
Hi Chris,
I love my Lochby but it is too tall for the front pocket of my new bag.
Would this be a workable solution? The Lochby is only about a half inch too tall.
Can you compare sizes if you still have both?
Thanks for all you do.
Stay safe and be blessed.
Michael
Hi Michael - the Lihit Lab A5 I have is 9 inches tall and the Lochby Field Journal is 9 and 3/4 inches tall ... I hope this helps! The Lihit also has a bit slimmer profile yet it still fits my Leuchtuurm notebooks very well.
@@ChrisSaenz13 Thank you.
That is very helpful.
You are a Rock Star!
Love your video can u do 5 star cover
Hi Lynn -- it has been so long since I did this one I'm not sure if I had a 5-star cover back then? Can you give me more specifics on which cover you'd like to see?
Where did you find the big stencil?
Hi Jessica -- oh wow that has been a couple of years and I can't remember. But I know I was watching Brie over at Documented Journey and her friend Robyn (Robyn took down her channel) when I found the stencil so I probably got it from Brie's favorites list. I want to say Amazon I think it was but I am not sure. If I can find the listing I'll let you know!
Thanks you Chris . That's a really nice cover very practical. The ones you made yourself are amazing really nice , did you stitch them by hand ?
Hi Matthew -- I sew my covers using Pellon double sided fusable stuff which makes them nice and thick but it's easy to sew thru. Some people use that Pellon and don't sew just iron to create covers. :)
Dangerous woman. I've just added ANITHER Wan o These to my cart on Amazon! I think they are great, use mine all the time. As a dedicated and indecisive FP person I like that the pocket on the front can hold about 6 fountain pens and a pencil, as well as all the wee pockets inside that I don't quite know what to do with.
I stitch in Elastics so that I can loop a notebook/s through those, then I can use the slips at front and back for carrying random bits like blotting paper or a writing guard or stencil (don't use stencils much).
I have the Lihit Lab pen case too and use it all the time. It's got room for loads of pens, pencils, rubber, thumb drive and you can even get your mouse in there too. At the moment mine has 13 FPs, a propelling pencil, spare leads, 2 thumb drives, a rubber, a craft knife, 6 pastel highlighters, a booklet of sandpapers for on-the-go nib smoothing, a ruler, a stencil, a little correction tape dispenser, blotting paper, a card with currently-ink list, postit tabs, and a little tear out scratch pad notebook that I made. I've added a couple of 'lids' to fold over the pens so that those without clips, or which are shorter pens, don't fall out. It's stuffed but not stressed, and everything is easy to find.
... I find myself slightly embarrassing, but if you are similarly affected, you might find my customising ideas useful ...
Gosh this makes me wonder why I didn't think of putting pens in the velcro front pocket of mine (the A5 Notebook Cover). I'm just not thinking creatively these days! I'm glad you mentioned this! I love my pen case too it holds SO MUCH stuff! I think I walk around too busy and distracted and I need to stop it and slow down -- then maybe I could get back some simplicity and stop with the overwhelm! :)
Hey I wonder if my iPad mini will fit in there?
Hi Sharon - I just checked, and my ipad mini fits inside this Lihit Lab cover, while wearing its own folio cover . There’s only a bit of padding in Lihit cover, so you may not want to trust it without an ipad cover too.
is this washable?
Hi @bluemermaid-ji9vp it is the kind of nylon material that seems to resist most stains, I'm pretty confident saying that it's at least easy to wipe off and I have 2 cats, one is white, + this cover doesn't get all covered in hair because it's smooth enough. I hope that helps. It's some type of Cordura Nylon it looks like.
Why are they called 'Bullet' journals?
Hi Jerry -- check out Ryder Caroll's website he is the creator of the bullet journal system and he has a very excellent and simple way of describing it: bulletjournal.com/
In my words, I think it's because you can jot down your lists and notes quickly and concisely in few words and keep organized ... but I am SURE he explains it better!
