Opticon is brighter and light weight vocal and Rubicon is more Deep and little bit more warm and drag the voice out more clear but overall opticon is the Winner...
I could hear the video maker sniffling in the video indicating they were perhaps too close to the microphone which is both good (it indicates the video is from the listener's point of view/location) and bad (it shows that the recording was/may have been negatively influenced by reflections off his/her head, chest and stomach). There is nothing stating what microphone was used to record this, nor what equipment and wires it passed from the microphone through. In the Vocal section near the videos end I could hear what seemed to be a far clearer, warmer and wider midrange from the Rubicon models (the Opticon models sounded much more brightened and forceful in their reproduction of the midrange vocals), but who's to say that's fact when all else I wrote is so. Then we have to add-in the extreme sound compression TH-cam uses and everything goes from possibly bad, to far worse. Seems like a good price. If you didn't think much of an improvement, you could resell and get much of your money back. Looking at frequency charts and reviews, while they will sound bigger than Opticon 1s (which I also own), the bass seems to roll off similarly with a bit more bass in mid bass region, 50 - 100 Hz relative to rest of curve adding some warmth. Just a bit harder to drive than 1s. I really wouldn't pay much more for a vinyl wrap speaker either. If its the MK2 version, I think it will sound a bit different looking at the frequency curve which has greater dips and peaks.
