      Thanks Tony :) I'm a very big Cinema 4D and After Effects guy! I only use Avid when I'm forced to use it by a client lololol, and I haven't jumped into the world of blender yet, but the damn plugins that it has are starting to leave me no choice! While I will have content ranging from movie talks, video games, and entertainment as well...I will also always have a baseline of post-production, production, and filmmaking/music production talks underneath it all. That's the bedrock of my channel so thanks for being here :)

      @@thegatewaytoprestige I try to be versed in the big 4 NLEs; I like to call it the AAAB: Adobe, Apple, Avid, and Blackmagic, but my favorite one has always been Adobe Premiere Pro. I mentioned Media Composer because the last time I checked it was still the industry (Hollywood) standard, but most TH-camrs don't even know it exists.😂

      @@tonytech5520 LMFAO! but the answer is in your reply... "most youtubers"...youtubers are exactly that, and, while they have their own flavor of celebrity, it's not HOLLYWOOD Hollywood, it's NEW AGE Hollywood, CYBERWOOD or METAWOOD lololol.
      So of course they have no idea about working in The Avid. They have no idea about accidentally dragging track one down the timeline and overwriting a chunk of edit LOL or the insanely unnecessary destination folder hierarchy Avid forces on you lololol.
      And yes, while it is still industry standard, I will say that MOST music videos, commercials, and even trailers I've been working on, and definitely business clients...it's been 90% FCPX these days. Features...still Avid, 95% of the time...when Apple abandoned FCP7 that was that for their feature film dominance, although, they are making a comeback in feature film and I will say, FCPX at this point in the game, is by far the easiest and fastest editor on earth. Even the color tools are super strong once you understand them. Not alien strong like Resolve or anything, but definitely strong lol.

      @@tonytech5520 This is true. Which is why I tend to take on more personal clients and freelancing. I enjoy the work inside the studio system sometimes, but for the most part, I enjoy the freedom of just turning in the completed project for notes and revisions and then refining until the client is satisfied. Definitely fortunate in that way.

    Great production values, dude. Subbed! In regards to Apple making a new Mac Pro that can beat Intel /AMD Mac Pro at the high end, I think Apple is well aware and they make these machines specifically for use cases like yours. Maaaybe it’s not this year, but the M1 (or Z1) Max Pro should beat the 2019 model at enterprise workflows such as yours.

    • @thegatewaytoprestige
      @thegatewaytoprestige  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks!I 100% AGREE! It should definitely beat it...it won't right out the gate UNLESS they somehow make this first version modular, but once it's modular, AND once all the intel apps are AS Native, then it's going to be a thing of beauty!

    • @Evan_Rodgers

      @@thegatewaytoprestige imagine Apple dedicated GPUs with 256 core graphics and 64 core neural engines. This will fit into the the current power profile of the 6800x duo. Once Apple is full steam ahead with 3nm chips in a year or two it’s gonna be bonkers!.

    • @thegatewaytoprestige
      @thegatewaytoprestige  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@Evan_Rodgers yes it will, but then it still needs to be modular because I need the option for TWO of them, and quite frankly, up to 4 would be ideal. Then we are competing at a PC level but with all the benefits of the Apple ecosystem 🤯🙌🏽❤️✨

    Working in Adobe it's its the amount of Memory that I look for.

    • @thegatewaytoprestige
      @thegatewaytoprestige  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      The reality is, Adobe is the most inefficient suite of applications when it comes to maximizing the resources available in the hardware to maximize performance output from their software. It’s a shame because their software is fantastic and the BIGGEST flaw is the software can’t live up to its potential because Adobe refuses to focus on rewriting the code to take advantage of the array of GPU and processing power options available to them.

  • @kingkrukgaming
    @kingkrukgaming 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Thanks for making this. I know I have to hold out maybe until the M3 chip. When it comes to 3D rendering none of the TH-camrs even touch it besides synthetic tests. I have often asked how Houdini, or Nuke compositing is handled over the Intel Mac’s…. And well, crickets. Video editing is child’s play. I can do that on my iPad Pro. The real action is the GPU tasks. I don’t think there is enough juice on these new chips, yet.

    • @thegatewaytoprestige
      @thegatewaytoprestige  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I hear you on that bro. And I absolutely will be putting this thing through the paces and screen recording my workflows once time allows. I want you to be able to see what this does during full 3D animation sequences and compositing workflows. I just wrapped up 75 VFX shots for a new film over at Lionsgate Studios and I used my machine for every single shot. Granted my tools of choice are Cinema 4D for anything 3D animation related "with OctaneX being my renderer of choice", and After Effects as my compositor. However, I do plan on throwing Houdini tasks and Nuke Compositing at it as I've had more than a few people ask me to do so so that they can see how the Mac Pro holds up to it. So I got you fam, and will do.

    It *is* a bit unfair because it's Apple that sets the price, but I think the mid range Mac Pro was selected due to the price comparison with the M1 Ultra Studio.

    • @thegatewaytoprestige
      @thegatewaytoprestige  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I get that, I do...however, my argument is that this is the wrong comparison in the first place and at all. In my opinion, the Mac Studio was never meant to take on or replace the Mac Pro. It was meant to take on and replace the iMac Pro and the 27inch iMac lineup. They are evenly priced and evenly capable machines and that's kind of why I got upset and said well if you're going to make the comparison to the Mac Pro, then do a full on high end to high end comparison of the two products. But I definitely understand your perspective as well.

    • @nightcrayon
      @nightcrayon 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@thegatewaytoprestige Good point as well. I guess they're both avenues worth exploring. I just commented on a Max Tech video that most of the reviews are concerned with speed to complete individual tasks - which is important, and a much easier data point to collect. But I use my Studio differently- having more CPU cores and RAM benefit my use case of having a large number of "medium" sized apps all running, with enough cores and memory so they pretty much run at "unhindered" speed. In that case, #s of cores and RAM scale up a lot better than simply timing an individual task... Hell, i can bring a 16 GB RAM M1 to its knees just having enough browser tabs open before too long :) Anyway, subscribed, glad Vadim from Max Tech was nice enough to link your channel.

    • @thegatewaytoprestige
      @thegatewaytoprestige  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@nightcrayon LOL FACTS. You're speaking nothing but the Carfax right now lol. And that's my point. I'm currently working on VFX shots for a Lionsgate film and I have C4D, After Effects, Photoshop, Illustrator, Media Encoder, and Logic Pro all open and running across 8 or so spaces, with two 4k monitors connected, and 3 separate Safari windows each with a dozen or so tabs open...and the Mac Pro does just fine with all of that lolol. But there's simply zero chance of me pulling off this kind of workflow in the Apple Space on any of their other machines just yet. Apple Silicon WILL be able to do this in the future, perhaps by years end with that new Mac Pro...but not yet. And yep, I didn't know it until you and a few others in the comments pointed it out, very cool of them to do :) Great guys those two.

  • @ArneHiga
    @ArneHiga ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I'd still much rather buy the 2019 Mac Pro than the Silicon models. What happens if a client hands you a Windows or Linux file which needs editing? Then what? In the real world, ya gotta be versatile enough to adapt & work with whatever you're asked to. Doesn't seem the new Macs can run other O/S's very well if at all. That was one thing the old Intel Macs excelled at. They were Wintel & Linux compatible.

    • @thegatewaytoprestige
      @thegatewaytoprestige  8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I will say this, now that we are 6 months into an M series Mac Pro on the market. What I ended up doing was selling the Intel Mac Pro, picking up an M1 Max Mac Studio, and spending $25k on a Puget system with a 64-core thread ripper and 2 rtx 4090's...so between the two of them, everything is covered now. I admit, the plan is to pick up an M3 Ultra Mac Pro IF IT PROVES TO BE at bare minimum as fast as an RTX 3090 by itself. Ideally it will be as fast as 2 of them. Will that be as fast as my Puget? Not even close, but at least I'll have the environment that I'm most comfortable with when I want it. But I understand your feeling and ALL of your points. I'll do an update to this video after the new Mac Pro drops in July.

      I certainly understand your perspective as well, but my overall point, which I’ll make in a future video, is that the better comparison is between the Mac Studio and the machine I believe it is actually replacing, the iMac 5k and iMac Pro lineup.
