    I REALLY appreciate you running music production benchmarks. It's a key use case for Macs specifically but very few reviewers test audio at all, and when they do it's some sort of encoding test as opposed to DAW performance which is what actually, you know, matters.

    I must say, you cover a lot of bases that many standard reviewers (on here, at least) leave aside or only address briefly. I'd love to see you guys also test ambient noise with the fans for these products. One of the big selling points is how quiet they are while they/you work. So, testing the ambient decibels while Idle, medium load, heavy, and forced max would be great to compare - especially for those who do audio recording, or simply like a quiet workspace.

    • @gauhausdesign
      @gauhausdesign ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@MarkBurgingerQubitsToyMost mini's are super silent I've noticed (I've got 2 older models). The M2's are given more power and heat compared to the M1 Mini from what I've seen, so they "may" require higher fan speeds. I've seen from some reviews that the M1 Studio has some noise, so that's what I'm wondering about. But it's a good metric to cover so there isn't any guesses or surprise after purchase.

    Be careful about those predictions: Apple released the Mac Studio M2 Max at WWDC just a few weeks ago. The Mini would require $700 in upgrades just to get to rough parity with the baseline Studio, which would still have 11 more GPU cores than the upgraded Mini. I'm guessing those benchmark results come out a little different now, with the Studio being the more powerful CPU/GPU combination overall. It would be fun to see those same tests again with the M2 Pro vs M2 Max configurations.

      As soon as you opt for 32GB of memory on the Mini, you should move yourself up to the base model M1 Max Studio, but make sure you get the 1TB version since the SSD performance is significantly better. I have both the loaded Mini M2 Pro and M1 Max Studio. Overall, the Studio is a better buy once you push up the price of the Mini. One thing that doesn't get enough emphasis is the benefit of moving up to 1TB of SSD on both the Mini and Studio, given the magnitude of the speed improvement. Because the Studio has 2 audio/video encoder/decoder engines, it will always beat out the Mini on large audio/video projects resulting in accumulated wait times that you'll notice over time if you go with the Mini. The smaller weight and size of the Mini may be an important consideration for some scenarios. That's why I have both, the Mini for remote settings and the Studio for the Studio.

    Dear max tech, could you help me to know does it still safe to run m2 pro for video editing smoothly including bunch of vst or plugins? I mean without lagging stuttering and also music production smoothly with bunch of vst? Or the only answer is to have m1 or m2 max chip with minimum 32 gpu? Because based on your video i think it cant be helped even using m2 pro with 32 gb ram, please help

    Very helpful. To clarify, if I get a Mac Mini Pro with the base 512GB, am i getting the slower SSD than if i upgrade to the 1GB. or is the base 256 GB in the base M2 mini the only slower option?
