@@BrendaSmitJames Your video introduced me to the idea of what a vignette is and what it should look like as well as giving me examples that I truly benefited from. I was able to write my first vignette, so thank you very much!
first timer on your channel and watched "vignettes", so good. Really felt like a walk with a good friend on the beach. Maybe that's what vignettes in essence are , like walk and talk with a good friend, where everything flows seamlessly.
That is so exciting! Thank you for sharing. Have you seen this video where I share my journey to becoming a writer: th-cam.com/video/EMru-ErxyA8/w-d-xo.html
I can't believe this classy lady with these very accurate simple and to the point videos only have that small amount of subscribers while others have thousands, life is not fair really, im glad I've stumbled on this video, thank you really that was very helpful.
❤ Heartfelt. I've heard that all great masters begin with few followers... Lucky us. It's 1.30 am. I should be sleeping, but I am glued to this classy lady.
I've been enjoying your channel. In this one, however, I really would have liked you to share some examples. Thank you for putting your content out into the world. 💕
Thank you for your encouragement. Thanks too for the feedback. I've been cautious about not crossing over into copyright issues but I could have used some of my own examples in the video. However, I did put links in the description below. Based on your feedback, I think I will do a follow up video with specific examples. That's a great idea. Thank you!
How could you put a vignette as part of a chapter in the form of a flashback. For example, a person comes across a black and white photograph that relates to the subject of the chapter? Also is there a book that shows examples of this?
I don't have a memoir I can refer you to as I haven't seen one that uses vignettes in the way you are suggesting. The memoir that does use different forms of writing in the same memoir is The Measure of My Powers by Jackie Kai Ellis. Check your library they may have a copy. Otherwise I find it an excellent memoir, one worth owning. Have a look at her varied structure and it may guide and inspire you with regard to yours. Here is my review on that memoir: th-cam.com/video/7xxwXLAIjpQ/w-d-xo.html
This video is so underrated, thank you so much!! You helped me a lot.
That is great news! What was something you learnt that you didn't know before?

Thank you, and what a fabulous analogy. Your description evokes the imagery that vignettes serve so well!
Thank you so much. I am so interested in discovering if I too can write. You give me hope.

Very helpful, thank you.
Thank you!
After six minutes listening I still don’t what a vignette is. Too complicated. Something to do with a slice of cake

Thank you, I'm glad you enjoyed it! It seems to be a popular topic.
