I’m watching this not because I want to learn how to do massage, but I’m craving for a great massage. I feel like I’m wasting my money everytime I go for a massage. I hope I’ll find someone soon that can actually know how to do a real massage.

Thanks a lot for the explanation of the techniques. I will be studying massage therapy, so your videos where you mention the muscle names and massage techniques are a good!

Your videos are so calming to watch. I got taught to use my thumb on the scapula and put the arm over the back. It always bugged me, and seeing your method is sooo much better. Thank you.

God, I love your deep massage videos.
We do it quite differently but I'm always trying to incorporate a bit of your style into mine.
Your flow is much more gentle and broad.

Imo its not so deep, I think primarily connecting tissues are focused, and then the muscles obviously but not dẻep tissues

I love your videos, so relaxing and informative! I hadn't had a deep tissue in a couple of months and after my last one my back pain was pretty bad, it had eased a lot before but for some reason, it really flared up. I'm not sure if it's because she worked muscles that haven't been massaged in a while and that's what has caused my pain to worsen or if she has done something that's irritated the nerves. At my next appointment I'll speak to her and say that deep tissue is a no go from now on because certain areas of my body can't take it anymore and she can do aromatherapy massages, reflexology, reiki, pedicures etc during our appointments. When she was working on my legs the last time, she always starts with my calf muscles, I felt sick when she was doing my left calf because it was so tight and both quads were pretty bad to. She eases off when I ask her but she'll say that she's not going that deep especially on my quads but it's really painful, followed by hips and glutes. I'm in for an hour and she does legs, back, glutes, hips, shoulders, she'll do deep tissue on the areas she feels needs it the most. Then finishes with my face and scalp which is heaven! Sometimes I can breathe through the discomfort until the muscle releases or she'll start and the muscle will release really quickly, which is the best because then she gets to do more relaxing work. She keeps me on my feet and for that I'm really grateful

Kirsty Macfarlane Hi Kristy I’m a licensed massage therapist in NC. Do you actually understand what deep tissue massage is? Or do you think deep tissue means pain?
A lot of people are misinformed when it comes to deep tissue massage. There is a difference between deep pressure and deep tissue. Deep tissue does not always equate to deep pressure pain.
Deep tissue is just that getting to the deeper tissue. You should never be above a 7 pain level on a scale of 0-10. If you are at an 8 based on your pain tolerance that therapist has gone too deep and potentially damaging muscle tissue.
Quite honestly there are ways to get to deep tissues of the body without have to use deep pressure. I do it in my practice daily.
Just from what I have read is you don’t need a deep tissue massage like so many of my clients think they do.
She’s not doing all deep tissue on everybody part listed. Think of deep tissue as a focus area she can’t possibly as a therapist do a FB Deep Tissue in a hour it’s not possible. You don’t have any deep muscles on your scalp.I get so many unrealistic clients who think we are miracle workers who are there to fix them in one short session. We are there to facilitate healing by the manipulation of soft tissue structures. Don’t ask for all these areas to be worked on and complain that she isn’t spending enough time warming up. Don’t book a 60 min book a 90 min. Your expectations as a client are unrealistic. The calves, hams, glutes and hips are extremely complex muscle groups i could spend over an hour on each leg. You want an effective massage pick one area to focus on in 60 min. For 90 min you are looking at 3 max focus areas and a 120 min 5 areas. That’s just my advice at the end of the day each therapist is going to work on you the best way the can applying all the techniques they have learned to achieve a result. If you tell the therapist to go as deep as they can go then don’t complain when you are hurting.
You are confusing deep pressure with deep tissue massage. I think you could benefit from Myofascial release and positional release. I’m also a reiki practitioner and if you were expecting that to make your muscle pain go away that is probably something that won’t happen with energy work. It can however reduce stress, induce relaxation, and improve sleep, but that’s about it.
I would say a firm pressure relaxation massage would be beneficial and best for you. Like i said though you were wanting a deep pressure not a deep tissue massage.

@@Road2PBATour do you know anything about my conditions? You made assumptions and didn't read my comment properly or bother to ask questions. You went straight to thinking I knew nothing about massage therapy.
I didn't say she did deep tissue on every area of my body, I specified the areas where I struggle with when she does go deeper.
Reiki does help with pain because it lowers your level of stress and anxiety, anything that does that will ease pain.
I've been going to my therapist for 7 years and she has worked wonders for my pain both physical and mental but due to what is wrong with me my muscles go into spasms. So I can go get my massage and everything is fine, she can go to town on my calfs, quads and hips or wherever needs it. I can go back a fortnight later and she can barely touch some areas of my body, specifically the ones I mentioned.
I would benefit from myofascial release but nobody practices it close to me. I did research into it years ago and check regularly to see if there's practitioners in my area.
I really don't appreciate your condescending tone, there was no need to address me as if I'm an imbecile who doesn't know what treatment is being done to my body. I do my research before getting treatments. I do know the difference between deep tissue and deep pressure because I educate myself and if there's something that can help me, I'll ask my therapist if she can do it or if she knows someone who can. I have an amazing relationship with her or I wouldn't still be going to her.
Like I said you came to conclusions about a person you don't even know, didn't bother to ask what was wrong with me. Instead you assumed I was stupid because you're a massage therapist and you think you know it all. Did you not read the little bit above the comment section on how to address people?

If I may suggest as someone who's on the same boat as you before, if you have a friend or know of a person who has experienced good, clean, & properly performed therapeutic massage before, ask for their trusted therapist(s) to handle you.
Bless yourself with a great massage! Cheers!

Here’s some advice being a licensed therapist in NC. You should be able to go to any massage establishment and get a massage fully clothed. There is nothing to fear at anytime you feel uncomfortable you have the right to terminate the session however you would ultimately have to end up still paying, but there’s nothing to be scared of.
