The original Altered Beast isn't _bad_ , but there are an absolute ton of ways to improve it. This game doesn't do any of them. It's actually a step backwards in just about every way.

Both the arcade and the Mega Drive versions of the original Altered Beast win over this one in almost everything, from graphics, to music and also gameplay. Specially the arcade version. But I think this "Altered Beast - Guardians of the Realms" is a very nice game anyway.

The original game had very iconic music. I kinda wish they would've went a similar route with this game's soundtrack. I hope the game over music is as epic as the first game lol still looks like a cool follow up, despite the poorly-aged GBA graphics

Oh god, I actually needed an Infinite lives code for this game due to how hard it was. (mainly the enemies) Although I really did enjoy it as well. (even though most bosses were pretty simple while the final boss was a bitch)
I was impressed by the length of the levels, but yeah those old pre-rendered CG sprites are terrible. Hand drawn would have had much more personality, and aged much better too. Also, as much as I loooved this game in the 80's, I'm not sure how much I would have even WANTED longer levels with outdated gameplay by 2002.

Quite possibly some of the most entertainingly awful sound and delightfully ugly designs I've ever experienced from a portable game. 8/10, would tickle the obese devil baby from heaven again.
I love this game, and I really don't understand all the hate for it, I actually liked it better than the original. More levels, longer levels, more beasts you can transform into, more bosses, more enemies, better soundtrack, unlockables, more items, harder levels/bosses(especially since you couldn't play 2 players). This....looks unforgivable. The music sounds like an episode of goosebumps and the characters have bonkers the clown size feet.

The GBA just didn't have the power to handle the graphics level they were trying to push, methinks. Simpler spirtes might have helped.
