I think Kushina deserves a spot here too: her village destroyed, her parents killed, bullied all her youth, forced to become a jinchuuriki that will cause her more troubles… she knows Minato will die too and her son would grow as an orphan and a jinchuuriki
TBH Karin having to live through that with her mother trumps out a lot of 'I saw someone get killed' Death isn't always the worst. Being bit repeatedly all over ones body and barely kept alive is pretty bad.
@@morphkaianthat's like one of the friking worst backstories fr. Plus borderline sexual assault as well. Slavery. Name a backstory involving slavery in naruto (there probly is lol). Karin is a g. Wish we got team taka expanded upon more.
@@MatthewUchiha-hg2fl Literally every sound village shinobi. While they weren't technically being enslaved, they were mostly orphans who Orochimaru had manipulated into believing that that was their home, and that Orochimaru simply wanted to help them get stronger. Also Sai, Him and his brother were raised together by Danzo and eventually forced to fight to the death. Then Say was given a curse mark and raised as an assassin, forced to do what Danzo said. And, the Hyuga clan is literally built on the practice of enslaving the side branch by giving any main branch member the ability to lobotomize them at any time. Also, Kushina since childhood was raised to become a weapon for Konoha. Bit yea, Jugo, Suigetsu and Karin were actually really cool characters.
The way they did her scene with her mother dying was so f***ed up. That imprinted on me because of the potentially implied SA in it and her screams of loss and terror, s*** could've been a horror villain's origin story.
i wanted karin on this list man, that lady didn't really witness like death at a young stage, but she was forcefully bitten by shinobi countless times without her consent or approval, and like although it was never directly mentioned, bite marks can be seen on Karin’s inner-thigh and breasts, indicating that she had to strip naked for shinobi to bite her, and that too in her private areas, so its kinda almost implied that there could be sexual assault/child abuse at a young age, which i think is pretty traumatising and sad. she lost her mom to the same thing too, pretty tragic
Absolutely! I would've placed Karin at the forefront, or even swapped her with Konan (though I love Konan, we're discussing the worst backstories). Karin's backstory is incredibly tragic because she and her mother were never treated as humans; they were seen merely as tools. From a young age, Karin was exploited for her unique healing abilities, forced to endure unimaginable conditions to heal others. This exploitation involved severe physical and emotional abuse, highlighting the violation of her dignity and humanity. Moreover, Karin was kept barely alive, living in a state of constant torment and pain, which is a form of continuous torture. In the end, not even her mother could resist that much pain. When Orochimaru appeared to rescue her, it was not out of compassion but for his own sinister purposes. He subjected her to the same kind of abuse, using her as a test subject in his cruel experiments. The misery she must have felt during these times is beyond comprehension, as she was reduced to nothing more than a pawn in his quest for power. Moreover, even though she accepted Orochimaru's offer, for years, Karin remained trapped in this nightmarish existence, a tool for Orochimaru's experiments, used and discarded whenever he saw fit. He literally promised her:"If you come with me I promise that nobody will touch you again". Then she is shown once again bitten ALL over her body. Her life took a further tragic turn with the arrival of Sasuke. And this just breaks my heart. Sasuke's involvement marked the worst part of her story. Despite his often cold and abusive behavior, Karin falls for him and is pretty much undoubtedly that she developes later on something like Stockholm syndrome towards him, forming a psychological attachment to her abuser. This attachment was a coping mechanism, a tragic response to her prolonged suffering and lack of autonomy. Karin's psychological manipulation and emotional trauma were profound, and she never received any closure for that matter. Which of you ask me... that's worse than in other cases. Her sense of self-worth was so eroded that she continued to serve others without question. To add insult to injury, in Boruto she still works for Orochimaru, she never get over her Sasuke crush, she doesn't get married or falls in love again and she was later made to assist Sakura in giving birth to Sarada. This task, which she was depicted as being fine to perform, underscores how deeply ingrained her sense of servitude had become. Despite all her suffering, she was still expected to put others' needs before her own.
Jiraya's life was terrible, he never got the girl of his dreams, he never achieved most of the things he wanted, was ridiculed because he was never as good as his teammates and traveled the world drowning his sadness and sorrows with liquor and women. He watched his students die and suffer from atrocities caused by war and atrocities caused by the perception or the concept of the "ninja way", got murdered by his student and was robbed from witnessing Naruto become a Hokage, who was literally his only family and companion. What I loved about Jiraya is that he never stopped smiling and he never stopped showing compassion to those who're less fortunate than him, even though he's not the strongest but Jiraya is the most goated character. He was joyful in spirit and him and Naruto were truly blessed.
Jiraiya was pretty happy traveling the world and writing books, what are you talking about? His life was actually pretty good and thats why he was always so high spirited.
He had freedom tho that's wut he really wanted he turned down the hokage job 3 times so he could travel and write his novels very few ninja have ever had that level of freedom
@@insane9473 Bro his last words and thoughts when he fought Pain, signified that. He just made peace with his life and focused on the positive, that's how I interpreted his life.
I feel like Sai should've been an honorabke mention here. He was forced into a life of killing from an extremely young age. He was forced to kill his first ever real friend, and then ditched practically all his emotions which he had to learn about through team 7. Sure his life becomes substantially hetter, but his backstory is pretty brutal.
I wouldn’t say way worse when you’re being hated as a baby for something you did not do, but something that was sealed within you. And then not having your parents and the person told to take care of you stuffs you in an apartment and says here is some cup ramen and expired milk have fun, he also acted out and was a nuisance just to get some kind of attention because he was ignored and bullied a lot. Like it’s not the worst back story but it’s pretty freakin sad. At least worse than obito’s
@@freddylisy10 Being hated and alone sucks, but I can’t say it’s as bad as having to fight in a war as a child and watch your classmates die or worse kill them yourself.

I feel like Madara should have gotten an honorable mention here. Dude grew up what may be the most terrible and cruel era of history when 6 years old childrens were sent to war. He lost like 4 siblings and vowed to protect Izuna who in the end still got killed. His entire clan turned against him when all he wanted was to protect them ( decades later, the future Madara predicted came to pass ). The guy dedicated his whole life to create a world a peace for everyone so suffering would just cease to exist... And he finally realized it, turns out he didn't save humanity but doomed it to became a space alien's army of zombie.
@@god_complexx I think seeing your whole family + clan get killed is way more tragic than your daddy not loving you. Don’t get me wrong I love Zuko, but in terms of trauma is not really on par with most of these.
Just want to remind everyone that Gaara's uncle also basically said with his dying words that he doesn't love him (Gaara) and that he hates him for killing his sister.. This might move him up on the list tbh 😅

@@madsxg Yeah... It’s just unfortunate that issues like sexual harassment and abuse don't seem to resonate as strongly with men. It seems challenging for many men to fully understand and empathize with these experiences. This is just the impression I'm getting from watching this Kishimoto really did a good job with Karin backstory. I can understand that it was difficult for him to develop her character more, even though I've read that Kishimoto would've loved Karin to end up with Sasuke 1) because it would've been much easier to write their romance and 2) because he liked her very much. But the fandom always preferred Sakura over her, which is understandable. However, she really had so much potential for the Boruto franchise. At least, she should've gotten her closure by finding someone who really understands her. She could've carried on the Uzumaki clan.
There is one person that is tragically missing from this list: Karin. I genuinely believe that her backstory puts her top 3 in this list at least. The constant abuse she endured throughout her entire life is heartbreaking
Kimimaro should've definitely been on the list. Born into an insane blood thirsty clan (Kaguya clan), be caged by them like an animal, forced by them to kill blood mist ninja and ultimately being forced to watch his clan be exterminated. Now left all alone and with no one to turn to, is found by Orochimaru of all people. Orochimaru then indoctrinates him for years into becoming his new vessel. All he cared for now was to become Orochimaru's new host body and he doesn't even achieve that because he becomes terminally ill. His last moments were spent fighting in order to further Orochimaru's goals. He had no one who truly loved him and all he knew was violence and death.
Reminder to the rage commenters: this is a ranking of the saddest backstories, not the backstories that end up having the greatest impact on the story of the franchise.
Don’t forget though that kakashi also had to watch Itachi (who he worked with often) turn “evil”. Then when he grows up, he made captain of a team that fell apart. Couldn’t do anything for sasuke, was ready to end the life of his own student.
HOT TAKE, Itachi's backstory isn't that sad, if it's even sad at all. Like, the uchiha slaughter was his own decision. As someone who's been through some losses and trauma myself, there's a HUGE difference between actively deciding for something, even if it's one smaller evil to prevent a bigger one, compared to having _zero_ control over what is happening. Additionally, i'd add that PTSD is a very good indicator for a backstory. And considering Itachi doesn't show (m)any signs of PTSD, i'd say anyone like Kakashi, Nagato, Gaara, Obito and so on (them showing more or less signs of PTSD) are very clearly beating Itachi in having a worse backstory. Sadness is an emotion and thus _highly_ subjective, and having PTSD basically shows you've crossed one line with your emotions that anyone else didn't. Some people might get PTSD from more or less trauma, but in the end, a trauma is still a trauma and just because if's quantitatively less of a trauma that doesnt lessen the impact it must have had on you to develop PTSD. Seriously, Itachi clearly cared less about the WHOLE Uchiha clan than about his brother. So there's 100% no way saying thats a larger "loss" than lets say Kakashi had, who lost FOUR times as much as Sasuke meant to Itachi. I'd say Itachi is overall the most overhyped and overdramatized character in the whole franchise. Sure, he killed his clan. But did he even try preventing anything more peacefully? He's just a fucking joke character. You're gonna tell me his dad is fine with him killing everyone but at the same time wouldn't listen to him when he wants to prevent a civil war??? Either Fugaku is a fucking masochist who enjoyed dying to his son or Itachi is just fucking stupid. I'm sorry for all the Itachi fans, but he's noway near anything he's portrayed to be. Even if i might be too biased against him, there's still more than enough truth about how Itachi made huge mistakes, isn't that smart, and he never ever had a sad backstory compared to anyone else on the list. He's probably even below top 20 or 30 realistically speaking. And let's be honest here. Itachi's clearly been a victim of retconning in the series. At the beginning, he was supposed to be a bad guy and as soon as he's turned into being a supposed good guy, things had to be changed in order to make everything fit together, which it doesnt really do that much to be honest. Also, as a sidenote, just to have mentioned it, if you kill your whole clan, your friends or anyone close to yourself, you're scum in my eyes. I dont care if you wanted to save someone, that doesnt make you less scummy and Itachi is, to me, very clear peak scummyness considering the whole naruto universe,
Itachi also lost his teammates. Can’t forget that, which awakens his sharingan. He’s a pacifist, who almost ends his own life, as a child, due to the horrors of war. Plus all the pressure from his father and the clan to basically before the strongest Uchiha since Fukaku. Itachi also had an extremely mature mindset, even at the young age, which creates a massive divide with his peers. Itachi’s life consisted of zero chill.
Karin needed to be on this list! She lost her mom because her charka got sucked out of her. Was forced to do the same thing with SA occurring. Then got “saved” by orchimaru basically being manipulated by him to do his bidding. Then the one person who saves her Sasuke pretty much can’t stand her and also uses her to fit her needs. Also the way she acts towards him very flirty and obsessive is also common for victims of SA. Lastly she had to help Sakura the wife of the man she loved give birth to their child and basically give up on the one person who saved her so he could be happy. It would have been better had she at least ended up with some romantic partner at the end and maybe had a family of her own but nope. But yeah while she isn’t my favorite character I believe her backstory and current story is very sad and one of the saddest ones in Naruto.
karin lover detected, opinion fcking rejected. NO FCKING WAY YOU MAKE THIS BS. SHE DOESNT DESERVE ANYONE. she deserves valentino from hazbin hotel that's for sure
Tsunade also has the trauma of her mentor dying. Who was killed by one of her teammates who was incredibly evil and dangerous and was doing fucked up shit. And had lived to see 3 great Shinobi world wars. And lived to see the fallout of all three wars.
"Everyone you're talking about is already dead." This is yhe coldest line in Naruto and it continues to li e rent free in my mind. It is my go to introduction when explaining the world of Naruto, why Naruto's ideology's is so impactful and necessary, and what the real accomplishment in the end really is.
I feel like a lot was left on the table when speaking on Sasukes situation in Konaha. "Nothing really happened to Sasuke until killing Itachi, he had a solid support system" I'd imagine if Sasuke ACTUALLY had a solid support system we wouldnt have gotten the route we did. Theres the objectification and pressure of being "The last Uchiha" that I'd imagine would make someone feel less of a person, more of this "rare item", and this constant weight and pressure of having to deliver results. This happens during the chunin exams and shown in flashbacks from Narutos and Sasuke pre-genin sparring session, that a lot of the village saw him more as "The last Uchiha child" and less of "Sasuke". Naruto (as dumb as it may be) had minimal expectations put on him, so anything above failure was a "miricle". He garnered help, sympathy, support. I BELIEVE, if Sasuke were to have failed, he wouldve been seen more as "defective goods" and a let down. And lets be honest here, the "support" he got from his friends was less of a solution and/or speaking to his situation. and more of (subjective sure) toxic positivity in the sense of "Hey, but you have friends! Right?" No talking about how the entire village segregated your clan, how that clan got massacred, how your now an orphan, how knowing your brother who you loved and you THOUGH loved you, did that, and how that effects you and your trust issues. God knows how Sasuke wouldve turned out if he had an Iruka. 😩
If he had an iruka ... iruka would probably be jealous of his heritage, Sasuke would tell him to piss off because you can't understand me, not much would change because he's a stuck up psycho and plot
@@jasonhosea9331 True, but that's again more of the fault of itachi than sasuke. Imagine showing your little brother a video of with like 16k video quality and high audio quality with like 360 degree POV, a video in which your killing your own (and his parents) repeatedly for like 17 hours. And more context when your little brother loved you so much that he wouldn't shut up about training with you and he's also 7 years old.
Gaara’s backstory is definitely the saddest. Itachi’s life got f’ed up after he was already an anbu captain, Kakashi was a jonin. Those things are part of the life of a professional soldier. As Nick has said, Gaara couldn’t sleep or a demon spirit would come out and destroy everything. That is a level of torment a child cannot handle. A child of that age should NEVER be in that situation and it mentally contorts you. Number 1… Gaara. As a toddler!
i'm surprised Neji wasn't an honorable mentioin, his back story is pretty sad. Spent most of his childhood as a slave to the main family branch. Grew up basically an orphan as his mother is like never mention or hinted at
Gaara should have taken Kakashi's spot. That guy nearly became crazy, and the worst part was that he could not allow himself to sleep while the others were in Lala land.
Nagato should be higher on the list. As well as all the things he mentioned, nagato also watched his nation get ravaged and destroyed by the other great nations, and watched im guessing a lot of his akatsuki comrades killed. He was also homeless after his parents were killed.
nobody in the akatsaki actually liked each other, aside from maybe Kisame and Itachi. Yahiko and Konan were also probably homeless before they found each other.
Never would say he has the saddest because I've always thought gaaras was worse because his family actively tried to kill him and then ignored him. All I can say is go back and tell me Naruto shouldn't be like number 7 on this list when you see that poor kid on his swing
@@fishbowl5308yea gaara definitely have the worst backstory, at birth his mom died and he had a beast sealed in him then is dad tried to kill him he couldn’t sleep till his teens his dad tried to kill him multiple times and the only person who cared for him with him tried to kill him and told him his mom and nobody would ever love and to go die. i wouldnt be mad at kakashi being above him tho
All the others Jinchuuriki had a worse life than this clown. Most of them are already use as war weapon, see as failure, or leave the village because of being a Jinchuuriki. Meanwhile, Fraudruto is Cry because people are not give a fuck about him LMAO
Obito's backstory is extremely poorly written. I just don't believe his descent into villainy. This is the man who, in an instant, completely changed Kakashi's entire dark and twisted world view, and then gave his life to protect his friends, I just don't believe that watching one of them die at the hands of the other would cause him to become a villain, especially since he explained in the war arc that he knew the context behind why Kakashi killed Rin. He claims that it's about more than Rin's death, but those events in the war arc are the only bits of tragedy that he's personally experienced, so I'm not convinced about that, either. Nagato's backstory is a much better and sadder version of that honestly. That's a guy who literally dealt with the worst that the world had to offer, and broke because of it.
Gaara deserves his spot off the fact that his father places the kanji for love on him to remind him of what he will never feel…….like that’s fuckin diabolical.
Great video. That said it made me chuckle realizing that this isn't a video of the tragic backstories of naruto but the tragic stories of naruto in general. Like Itachi dying isn't Sasuke's backstory, it's just the story of Sasuke
Well, think about it from Obito's POV He's part of a clan that, due to the actions of one person, made the clan face negativity along with being at the bottom of his class and being looked down upon because of his pure-hearted nature.
I actually agree with where you placed Itachi. Bro was literally a puppet all his life because ever since he was born his father had high expectations, he was told to join the anbu, Shisui forced him to kill him, forced to kill his clan, forced to join the Akatsuki and forced to kill while working for Akatsuki so his cover won’t be blown. The only happiness Itachi had was dying at the hands of Sasuke as he dreamt of but other than that his whole life has been sh-
- Obito: I lost Rin. - Nagato: I lost my parents and Nagato. - Haku: My dad killed my mom. - Tsunade: I lost my brother and lover. And Jiraiya. - Sasori: I lost my parents. - Konan: I lost my parents, my potential live interest Yahiko and Nagato. And my village ended up being destroyed years after my death. - Sasuke: My brother killed off my Clan and I later found out that the Leaf asked Itachi to do so. - Gaara: My mom died in childbirth, my dad treated my like a monster and asked my own uncle to assasinate me and lie to me about not being love. - Kakashi: My dad killed himself, Obito got crushed by a rock and the girl that like me got Chidori'd by me. - Itachi: I watched Shisui die and was asked to kill off my Clan by the Leaf. -
Kakashi also lost Minato & Kushina, Hiruzen and Asuma. And his mom also died during child birth. And Garra's dad Rassa also tried assassinating him 5 times before using his uncle Yashamaru.
I know we don’t know much about him but I feel like Bunpuku can be a honorable mention. Mans only friend was a tailed beast, his whole village hated him, jailed him for life, and thought he himself was the One Tails. He lived his whole life as a tool for the Sand Village, and died with only one friend who wasn’t even human
0:22 Shino, who was almost taken away by an underground soldier program, but his older friend went instead. Who only left that organization via death, and was brought back as an unwilling soldier in a war; & Shino then had to kill him.
Let’s be honest. Naruto’s life wasn’t that bad. Yes he was alone and hated but that’s nothing compared to what others went through. A lot of characters, in fact most of the main characters had a way worse life than Naruto.
Bro how. Yea I get that he lost his brother and was exiled by his clan. But he got exiled for trying to start a civil war. Yea, he was right and the Uchiha did become oppressed but then her resurrected himself, killed 20,000 people because he wanted to enslave the whole world in a fantasy against their will. "Dead men shouldn't go screwing things up!" ~ Naruto Uzumaki
I think the Senju brothers should get an honorable mention. They had to sit down and make peace with the people that killed their whole family, then both died in a conflict they fought their entire lives to prevent. Then get brought back as zombie assassins only to be consumed by the Shinigami and digested until Orochimaru frees them only to become soldiers in another war.
since I'm here early, Hey Nick, your channel has inspired me to write an anime of my own, and my dream is that one day make a u know nothing video in one of my characters, revealing things even l didn't think of when writing em

Exactly I get so angry seeing ppl who think they're so smart about Naruto say that Shikamaru or choji were narutos first friends and best friends because they befriended him when he was a kid while everyone ostracized him. I always try to tell them thats filler and not canon but they won't listen. So infuriating.
Kakashi hands down has the saddest backstory, you forgot to mension he became the sensei to the most catastrophic team of the history of the shinobi world, and kakashi not only lost people but he lost himself, his morals and values, itachi never had to go through any of that, he achieved his goal to protect his brother and make him the most powerful uchiha ever (except outside buffs like 10 tails, hashirama cells etc.) so yeah Kakashi has by far the saddest story in naruto
@@bigboydiamond6339the 2 things itachi wanted most are making his brother powerful/make sure he’s safe from danzo and protecting the leaf, Id say he achieved both those things during his lifetime
I found your channel like two months ago and oh boy did I do a deep dive, I was worried that the new Naruto stuff would lose the creativity but the premise of this video is so creative and a total meme, perfection.
Y’all gotta chill. Like all of these videos are opinions about a FICTIONAL WORLD AND PEOPLE. none of this has happened, it’s just anime. Like chill. 😂 😅
Naruto not being in the top ten because he loves everyone and has a positive attitude despite being orphaned, outcasted and not knowing why, not to mention he had been beaten by fellow village members as a child, and living off the bare minimum to watch himself whenever someone COULD HAVE been assigned to him is an indicator of just how many people suffer in silence. His entire childhood and decisions revolve around either getting attention or validation. A smile and positive attitude doesn’t doesn’t invalidate the trauma and hurt one is holding onto. Objectively Naruto’s backstory is absolutely in the top ten.
it does? why do people think a toxic masculine person with trauma is equal to a positive all happy trauma person?? no naruto objectvely has a better and way less sad life because he cabn bounce back, sasuke has it worse because he cant
I think it comes down to Kakashi Gaara and Itachi(by some extension Sasuke). I’d lean Kakashi slightly : His mother died when he was extremely young His father committed suicide while and was shunned for saving his comrades Believed Obito to dead only to eventually go to eat with him Failed his sensei in protecting Kushina and had to live through Minato and Kushina dying. Killed his other teammate Was thrown into the anbu to “cope “ with the death of his teammates and became a world wide known murderer.
He also lost Hiruzen and Asuma. And the only person in the Abu that didn't call him "friend killer", Itachi killed his clan and became a rouge ninja. Also, his student Sasuke became a rouge ninja and even joined the akatsuki. Also, he died protecting the village from Pain. And then he had to watch his friend Guy put his life on the line to save the whole fucking world.
Can we give an honorable mention to Zabuza. He had to kill his classmates. Not that it’s terribly sad compared to others, but it would be devastating. Especially after only learning to survive pretty much. Then comes to the conclusion at the end about what’s right and basically live. Then sacrifices himself
A boy who wasn't even a ninja took down 200 candidates .... zabuza - it felt .... so ... GOOD Forced/sad not words I would use tragic yes due to blood mist Uber toxic culture but that whole society was psychotic
Imo Gaara had the most traumatic story because imagine not being able to go to sleep and being haunted by a demon inside of you and everyone hating you. Or Itachi story
I’ve always been curious. What could we add to Jiraya vs pain so he wins. If Kakashi snuck into the rain village with him would be enough? If Guy went would they alert everyone too early because he has no stealth?
I believe you should do a top 20. There are extremely sad backstories missing from here like Kushina for example, Kimimaro or Sai’s early life and Iamato who was took from his clan when he was a little kid only to become an experiment for Orocimaru… he had to witness the death of his friends knowing he could have been the next one to die… He had to scream that he was alive when they turned off his capsule only to be found by danzo… he had to live under danzo’ s barbaric rules until he was helped by Kakashi and on top of that he had to remember who he was supposed to be when he met his own sister and the tragic story of his clan…
Wow wow wow... Ramen guy has the saddest backstory! On a serious note... I think Sai had a sadder backstory than Obito. And boy... Neji had so much potential to be in this list, but he was forgotten (probably because he was supposed to die).
Hold on. How can you say, "sadness isn't something you choose, it's something that happens to you," then choose Itachi as the saddest backstory when he chose everything that happened to him? Itachi agreed to all of it and perpetrated most of it, but somehow he has the saddest backstory? Your scales of sadness are broken.
Is it choosing if a no win set of choices are forced on you or you will lose everyone if you don't and knowing danzo have an "accident" a few days later
Yakumo should be on this list. She was possessed to burn her parents alive, sentence to permanent house arrest and forced to be drugged and tested on to keep her abilities suppressed. Karin should've at least gotten an honorable mention because of the horrific shit her & her mother went through before meeting Orochimaru.
and then she worked for Orochimaru, which kinda sucks.
TBH Karin having to live through that with her mother trumps out a lot of 'I saw someone get killed'
Death isn't always the worst.
Exactly, I’d easily have her over Konan on this list.

Kimimaro should've definitely been on the list. His last moments were spent fighting in order to further Orochimaru's goals. He had no one who truly loved him and all he knew was violence and death.

Read the novel about him recently and man it was amazing
Honestly this was such a good idea for a video. Good work hammer
Gaara's backstory taught me that the only thing that is worse than being all alone is being with people who make you feel like you're alone
But yeah while she isn’t my favorite character I believe her backstory and current story is very sad and one of the saddest ones in Naruto.
fck karin, i hate that sxualling assaulting btch. I would never rank her cuz imo she deserves everything thats bad idgaf

I feel like a lot was left on the table when speaking on Sasukes situation in Konaha.
"Nothing really happened to Sasuke until killing Itachi, he had a solid support system"
I'd imagine if Sasuke ACTUALLY had a solid support system we wouldnt have gotten the route we did.
Right?"
No talking about how the entire village segregated your clan, how that clan got massacred, how your now an orphan, how knowing your brother who you loved and you THOUGH loved you, did that, and how that effects you and your trust issues.
Totally agree.
i'm surprised Neji wasn't an honorable mentioin, his back story is pretty sad. Spent most of his childhood as a slave to the main family branch. Grew up basically an orphan as his mother is like never mention or hinted at

ALSO not to mention Neji you know died he never got the chance to properly grow up at least Gaara CAN say he grew up into adulthood
Im suprised Kabato didnt get at least an honorable mention the poor guy went through the ringer
he is easily top 5 for me
Gaara should have taken Kakashi's spot.
If you ever feel stupid, remember some people think Naruto has the saddest backstory in the series 😂
Again its their opinion although he doesn't have the saddest tho
Never would say he has the saddest because I've always thought gaaras was worse because his family actively tried to kill him and then ignored him. All I can say is go back and tell me Naruto shouldn't be like number 7 on this list when you see that poor kid on his swing

"We're gonna power rank sadness." Now I want a shonen about punch fighting with emotions
The one thing that helps me believe it is Tobirama explanation of the Sharingan awakens and what it means for an Uchiha to experience love
I'm surprised Kabuto isn't on this list
Facts mad disrespectful
Gaara deserves his spot off the fact that his father places the kanji for love on him to remind him of what he will never feel…….like that’s fuckin diabolical.

I know we don’t know much about him but I feel like Bunpuku can be a honorable mention. Let’s be honest. Naruto’s life wasn’t that bad. Yes he was alone and hated but that’s nothing compared to what others went through. A lot of characters, in fact most of the main characters had a way worse life than Naruto.

Only 27 subscribers in 5 years, you fell off.
Damn you only gave him 5 sec🤣
Lol😂
@@wadewilson9023fell, only follows a change in stature.
-buzz light-year or that sheep woman idr
For me this joke has come full circle and I'm just like heh trolls
"I've got a present in my backpack for the whole school" is the wildest energy to have
mf really trauma scaling 😭
Sakura, that fact she was chasing a man for 700+ episodes, almost dying in the process is wild
Ramen guy blatantly has the most tragic back story. It's how he's so powerful now surely.
I legit hope this works out ! Good luck
@@sauvejay2662 Thanks man appreciate at, I'm 7 arcs in. Main hold up is that I'm still learning how do draw, u know for the Manga's sake
Thank you! I’m tired of people feeling sad for Obito. He chose to be evil.
Nick says Gara has *"an active hand in his mother's death"* (twice). Gara's mother died before she could carry him yo full term of pregnancy!! How could a preterm (almost stillborn baby have "an active hand" in anything?! His mother was sacrificed! He was sacrificed!
*Damnit Nick ! What the hell?!*
I spoke too soon! He actually says it three times !!
Please never have Nick in jury duty ever !!
Pretty much all of these flashbacks that that you are talking about are anime only. Naruto was never shown to have any friends in his childhood.
Exactly why is he suddenly including filler when he isn’t supposed to and has not included that in most videos or discredits it
@@koenammons4891very true
Exactly I get so angry seeing ppl who think they're so smart about Naruto say that Shikamaru or choji were narutos first friends and best friends because they befriended him when he was a kid while everyone ostracized him. I always try to tell them thats filler and not canon but they won't listen. So infuriating.
Kakashi hands down has the saddest backstory, you forgot to mension he became the sensei to the most catastrophic team of the history of the shinobi world, and kakashi not only lost people but he lost himself, his morals and values, itachi never had to go through any of that, he achieved his goal to protect his brother and make him the most powerful uchiha ever (except outside buffs like 10 tails, hashirama cells etc.) so yeah Kakashi has by far the saddest story in naruto
what you mean the child had do make a choice between world peace and his family He had to lost his values too he was a pacifist
@@bigboydiamond6339the 2 things itachi wanted most are making his brother powerful/make sure he’s safe from danzo and protecting the leaf, Id say he achieved both those things during his lifetime
@@_imphyzixs_4221 thats all he had left Yeah but Im pretty sure he would be mad happy to still have his lover and parents dont you think 💀
obito shouldnt have even made the list, on point with everything else though
I found your channel like two months ago and oh boy did I do a deep dive, I was worried that the new Naruto stuff would lose the creativity but the premise of this video is so creative and a total meme, perfection.
Y’all gotta chill. Like all of these videos are opinions about a FICTIONAL WORLD AND PEOPLE. none of this has happened, it’s just anime. Like chill. 😂 😅
Damn we're really out here ranking who had the shittest life
12:01 "but since we're talking about pretty people will long hair"
That's whe most people started actually listening
Itachi has the dumbest backstory because he just accepted that he had to kill his clan. He didnt try to stop the conflict
A shinobi is just a tool for the village.
how the hell you wanted him to do that ?
Yes he did shisui and him were trying very hard to prevent the coup but Danzo fucked them over and made sure they couldn't do anything
Maybe you could do one comparing MC's of different shows as well on The Weeb Commander 🙌🏽
Your content is great! Thank you :)
You're right. Konoha coming back wasn't really net neutral since they had to rebuild and Pain still died, but yeah.
His best friend almost killed him and he watched him turn evil. Also lost his master/father figure in jiraiya.
it does? why do people think a toxic masculine person with trauma is equal to a positive all happy trauma person?? no naruto objectvely has a better and way less sad life because he cabn bounce back, sasuke has it worse because he cant
I think it comes down to Kakashi Gaara and Itachi(by some extension Sasuke).
I’d lean Kakashi slightly :
His mother died when he was extremely young
His father committed suicide while and was shunned for saving his comrades
Believed Obito to dead only to eventually go to eat with him
Failed his sensei in protecting Kushina and had to live through Minato and Kushina dying.
Killed his other teammate
Was thrown into the anbu to “cope “ with the death of his teammates and became a world wide known murderer.
Keep up the awesome work and videos Nick love the video
Can we give an honorable mention to Zabuza. He had to kill his classmates. Not that it’s terribly sad compared to others, but it would be devastating. Especially after only learning to survive pretty much. Then comes to the conclusion at the end about what’s right and basically live. Then sacrifices himself
A boy who wasn't even a ninja took down 200 candidates .... zabuza - it felt .... so ... GOOD
Forced/sad not words I would use tragic yes due to blood mist Uber toxic culture but that whole society was psychotic
I'm a little surprised Sai isn't on this list.
Awesome as always thanks ❤
Imo Gaara had the most traumatic story because imagine not being able to go to sleep and being haunted by a demon inside of you and everyone hating you. Or Itachi story
I’ve always been curious. What could we add to Jiraya vs pain so he wins. If Kakashi snuck into the rain village with him would be enough? If Guy went would they alert everyone too early because he has no stealth?
Naruto should at least be on the list. He might not have the saddest backstory but you can’t tell me he’s not even at least 8 or 7 on this list.
“I have a present in my backpack for the entire school* Jesus Christ Nick. Never change
It's time for a drinking game! Take a shot every time you hear “sad”.
Finally someone spoke up on actually how sad was Naruto’s backstory
For me Neji's story and even his death have stuck with me the most. It truly hurts knowing that his life was wasted just like that
Please do video predicting the Boruto couples, so we can see how many you get right in the end of 2BV! ⚡⚡⚡❤❤❤
Wow wow wow... Ramen guy has the saddest backstory!
On a serious note... I think Sai had a sadder backstory than Obito.
And boy... Neji had so much potential to be in this list, but he was forgotten (probably because he was supposed to die).
you did a great job 😊 luv your channel thank you
She lost her freedom just for being born. I dont think her lack of screen time should keep her out of the running for a list like this
