I went there on holiday for a week and by sheer luck ran into a guy who sits on the town council at a restaurant called Melk & Heuning (where his wife works). I spoke to him for 2 hours and learnt a lot. So with willingness to work there as an intern, you'd get a job somewhere which would put you in a position to learn what goes into starting and running a town like Orania.

Ek was nog nooit in Orania nie Hoop om die dorp eendag te besoek. Die planne is indrukwekkend. Julle is beslis op die regte pad.
Gaan daar meer woonstelle gebou word. Dat 'n enkele plot grond vir tenminste 10 gesinne behuising kan gee. Dis 'n baie meer doeltreffende gebruik van spasie en verlaag die koste vir mense wat wil koop of huur.
Olienhout is die nuwe ontwikkeling en Gannabos is 101 woonstelle wat gebou was. Daar is verskeie sulke projekte gedurig aan die gang. Gaan kyk, jy sal dit geniet.

Ek is nie so seker of jou bure te naby aan jou moet wees nie. Jou naaste is oraait as hy of sy ver genoeg is maar te naby kan n probleem raak omdat maniere en gewoontes verskil. woonstelle het nog nooit gewerk nie. dit maak n plek beknop,waterdruk pla,lawaai ens. hoe meer mense op een plek kan selfs n gefluister in n nagmerrie verander.
@@heinrichatjustonsite3182 Ja, daar is gevalle waar bure pla, maar ek dink nie dit het nog nooit gewerk nie. Dit bied baie behuising op een plek, verlaag kostes, kan 'n mini gemeenskap in die gebou skep as daar die regte spasie daarvoor geskep is, soos 'n binnehof met tuin en braai area bv. En met dik genoeg mure of soundproofing tegnieke sal geraas nie pla nie. Ek het al in 2 woonstelblokke gebly. Een waar daar 100 eenhede was en ek die seuntjie oorkant ons kon hoor gil. En 'n ander waar ons verskoning vra vir ons harde musiek en die buurmense nie eers daarvan weet nie🤣😅

does the town has a proper town centre? That is a central square? A square is an open place with classical golden ratio with buildings on three or four sides, like in the Neatherlands and Flanders. A square/plaats is not just a wind-swept open space. This design looks like American urban very low density urban sprawl with everything built around cars.

Suburbia, or low density housing, as well as eating up land, is car dependent, and is also a economically crippling for a town - more tarmac to fix potholes and not enough taxable income. @@thebergbok8279 yes, need 4 story buildings too. Density of population means less cost to the municipality ... and not everyone wants to live in a big house or can afford them. Also density of population makes more things within easy walking distance - schools, shops, cafes, barbers, libraries etc. And also gives the town a lively feeling. If you want to keep young people you can't build a town for retired people and if the town has no nice cafes and restaurants people will stay in bigger cities. Also, higher density makes services like buses, viable, and so fewer cars on the road.

We don,t play rap crap music so that everyone in town can hear it,we don't cuss and definiely not so that the whole town can hear it but the majority of that poor people is a nightmare. no manners what so ever. selfish. I have neighbours like that. My advice is -keep orania for decent people who can afford it. leave the decay for gauteng. i would have loved to know what it is like to leave my bike outside the yard to see it again tomorrow morning but ja.🙂

If you identify and practice afrikaans lifestyle I think you should. It's more about the person and values than colour.
Unfortunately I think you must be from the "Boerevolk", speak the language and be white to live there. Many Afrikaners living in the klein dorpies of South Africa still do not like the "Engelse" till this day because of the Boer war and concentration camps too. I've experienced a bit of abuse myself classified as an Engelse although my family is of Mauritian decent. Soutie and Rooinek names come to mind.
I guess some very old Afrikaners might think that way but most love and enjoy the company of other races, the trick is to keep out people of other races that don't want to build the country , steal , loot and destroy, you know the kind that feels they are anointed and no matter what you say or do you are white and the enemy. I always give food to strangers that pass my house, no matter who. Blessed are the pure in heart for they will see God

Orania needs to invest more in their roads infrastructure i.e., tar roads. Gravel roads are meant for rural and farming communities. Complete the basic infrastructure developments which is required for investment and attraction. Secondly keep you properly prices balanced,.......Orania's property market is well over valued for a town still under development stages. Well done for what Orania has achieved but keep it realistic.
Nothing wrong with gravel roads, we still had them 40 y ago 5km from OR Thambo airport.

Orania is still a developing community, and the government doesn't even help their community. That's why their funds are limited.

Ek woon in 'n woonstelblok in Bellville wat se grootste voordeel is dat dit naby alles is. Ongelukkig is die grootste nadeel ook dat dit naby alles. Sentralisasie lok baie haweloses asook krimenele elemente wat helder oordag hulle onwettige aktiwiteite uitvoer onder die skuiling van oordrewe bedrywigheid van die area. Dit help nie om binne stap afstand van alles te bly, maar dit dan nie veilig is om daarheen te stap nie. Net iets om in gedagte te hou.
In Orania is die kans daarvoor nul.
Uit hierdie uitbreiding moet hoër digtheid spruit. Daarmee, gemengde gebruik erwe waar woonstelle bo op winkels, kantore of diensgewende plekke (soos 'n tandaarts praktyk) gebou is. En dan moet daar publieke vervoer wees, miskien tremme.

If this people can come from Orania and go to western cape then south africa can learn from them as they are already showing how amazing they are if you dont use colour and a requirement and you dont take all the tax payers money home with you. @@DiesesMax Germans are welcome. There's already a German couple there and they started a Bavarian beer brewing company. The only rule is that you speak/learn to speak Afrikaans, and as a German, Afrikaans should be quite easy.

Hi, as jy verblyfreg aansoek doen (dokumente kan jy aanvra by die inligtingskantoor in Orania) is die vereistes dat jy die enige dwelms gebruik nie, nie 'n kriminele rekord het nie (of minstens dat dit nie tans teen jou tel nie), jy moet Afrikaans praat en die Afrikaner kultuur uitleef of minstens daarby aanpas en laastens moet jy Christelik wees (hulle se ook wel dat hulle nie in mense se hart en siel kan kyk wat hul glo nie, maar dis wel die fondasie van hul samelewing).
Daar's ook 'n toets wat jy sal moet skryf, maar dis baie maklik, ek het dit laasjaar afgehandel en verblyfreg gekry.

It doesn't look like one, hell it looks better than anything I've seen in South Africa. Imagine a modern city but with still hanging on traditional settings. None of this modern art stuff.
Ek dink eerder dat ORANIA is net vir die reik mense hulle soek nie die areme mense of mense met laer inkomste daar nie.
As hulle net vir rykes was, sou hulle nie kleiner plotte ontwikkel, om as goedkoper opsies te dien, maak nie. En hulle bou die 63 woonstelblokke wat vir armer gesinne is.
Hulle soek mense van enige inkomste klas wat bereid is om te werk en hulle deel by te dra. Enige iemand wat bereid is om te werk sal meer as genoeg vind vir sy hand om te doen. Daar is egter nie plek vir mense wat op handouts wil leef nie.
HOE GROOT IS DIE ERWE?
Die kwessie rondom Afrikaanse kultuur is een van die hoekstene van Orania. Dit sou egter, wat my, betref, 'n baie positiewe stap wees om alle persone wat Afrikaanssprekend is en die reels en regulasies ondersteun, inwonerskap te gun.
Dit sal onmiddellik die kwessie rondom ras uitkanselleer. Dan gaan dit uitsluitlik rondom kultuur.
Ek seker daar is geweldig baie van ons mede-Afrikaansspekendes, die Kleurlinge, wat uiters graag hulself in Orania sal wil vestig.
Dieselfde reels rondom toelating sal uiteraard geld, sodat Orania nie in die proses enige van sy belangrike "krediete" sal prysgee nie, soos bv veiligheid en sekuriteit, om maar maar een voorbeeld te noem.
KAN JULLE ONS SE MIN OF MEER HOEFEEL N TWEE SLAAPKAMER HUIS ONS WIL GRAAG SOONTOE TREK

@@JanusLoggie Gannabos woonstelle bestaan uot 101 woonstelle wat te huur is vir mense wat nie kan bekostig om te koop nie. Huur daar is tussen R2200 tot R3500 vir n 2 slaapkamer woonstel. Daar is verskeie sulke ontwikkelings en opsies.
