At this point, retro gaming is just immortalized. Really love that they are making these! Ordered one myself! Can't wait to fix it up and start living my childhood all over again. This is just pure gold really. Nice color combination btw
The fact we basically have new Game Boy hardware in 2024 (even if it isn't official lol) is absolutely incredible to me. I wouldn't hate if we started getting really high-quality repro cartridges either. Ensures that this will live on way beyond our lifetimes.
ordered a set but went with a black shell and blue buttons, looking forward to getting it in service. I was looking around at screen and battery mod kits for my original hardware and found this kit, costs almost the same as what I was looking at and I can keep my old GBC original
I love funny playing kit, I have the v2 ips GBA and the laminated IPS GBC, funnyplaying are so good at bringing 20 year old kit back to life, this FPGBC is amazing, full gbc functionality without having to pay the increasing prices for a used GBC.
I would definitely buy this but the fact that the possibility of things missing from the package is definitely a hard no. I am still surprised that the game boy color is still progressing in technology even to this day. I will stick to my analogue pocket. Maybe when they get a fix on their packaging issue I might consider.
I paid $85 for the kit, the custom shell and the rubber silicon pads. I forgot to buy the buttons so I just took them from one of my game boys that was out of service. $70 is still a deal since it's 10 dollars off the original 80 price so you pretty much get the shell for free.
I wanted to love the FPGBC but out of the box mine was kinda borked. 😭 Speaker stopped working after an hour and it stopped loading any games I put in, and wouldn't show up on either of my PCs so I couldn't do a firmware update. Still really pleasant presentation though!
I don't have that game but that's strange since all the tech for that game is in the cartridge itself and not the game boy, but Ill take your word for it
Yea for sures i tried it on 3 different consoles and it works tilt controls and all. One it loads on the FPGBC it only registers the control as a down tilt. I already contacted funny playing and they asked me to send a video showing the problem.
I seen in another video that someone said it doesn't work with flash carts yet :'( I will be buying one as soon as its confirmed working with ever drive!@@theretrouniverse
@@theretrouniverse sure but never gonna be a gbc. people keep mod these, some day a original Nintendo GB are rare. i keep mine original, for me that's important. today we have A LOT of cheap alternatives 🤷🏻♂️
The best of both worlds, old and modern, is a genuine GBC board with the new OLED screen. And I agree, if it's all new then you can get a Anbernic or PowKiddy RGB30.

The button set is the one that comes with the power switch. Not the shell. Had you ordered the buttons you would've had everything.
Ah yeah that makes sense. Glad it came with the IR sensor cover at least but thanks for the info

Check out Mahko's updates to the firmware. My GBC RED did the same black bar thing then once i updated the firmware it works 100%
cool good to know!

It was my fault it looks like the power switch comes with the buttons which I did not order so that’s on me
Crazy that we’re at this point, it’s a pretty good option too
If only Nintendo would have released a GB Classic like they did with the NES and SNES.
Just hope they put out an oled one
Someone did but I don't remember the company
Stupid question, but did the kit or the shell come with screws?
The shell does come with the screws
Kit is showing $70 without the shell and buttons. Looks like its gone up lol still pretty cheap though!

Damn I’m sorry to hear that. Is it too late for a refund?
Nice video!! Thank you!
You're very welcome! Thank you for checking it out!
Is your original Gameboy Color has backlite or is modded version?
This is all new parts. It’s from a company called Finny Playing. You buy the parts and put it together
Can you put fullscreen (FUL) in pixel mode like X4P?
You can not. You can only do pixel mode in 4x
Very cool subbed to channel!
awesome! Thank you so much!
Where can I buy some good pokemon clone cartridge
idk about good, since most are made cheaply. I got mine on Temu
And i missed some screen protection
Seems like it doesnt work with kirby tilt n tumble

oh wow that sucks@@unagibson
Does is accept flashcard ?
It works with repro carts, but I don't have a flashcart myself to test. I believe Bob Wulff tested it on his channel
6:45 - Can you apply pixel mode to the full screen? Or is pixel mode only available in the original screen size?
Pixel mode is only available in the 4x not the Full.
Can it be hacked to play roms from sd card? Would be cool. Analog pocket can it, but its waaaay too expensive.
The system itself has no proper OS but you can buy a GB flash cart and load games into the SD card for it

You ate so careful, i would even put the stickers tilted
It was nerve racking and I don’t have the steadiest hands either lol
make no sense... if dont have Nintendo old parts.... that's not a gbc anymore... just buy some anbernic instead 🤷🏻♂️
This feels like a gbc and also lets me play my actual carts
@@theretrouniverse sure but never gonna be a gbc. people keep mod these, some day a original Nintendo GB are rare. i keep mine original, for me that's important. today we have A LOT of cheap alternatives 🤷🏻♂️
As an owner of both, I like playing on the FPGBC much better, there is actually no comparison to the anbernic.
@@Ricky-ju9ms correct but as it happens quite often people always ask why not just play on an emulator
