    Tell me what you think of retiring to Colombia in the comment section below. I have also spelt Colombia incorrectly in one of my graphics that I can't edit, my apologies but please enjoy the vlog regardless.

    Everyone here complaining about things like roads, trash, corruption etc. If you want a luxury lifestyle go to NYC or London or Marsielle or something. This is what makes Colombia raw and amazing, culturally rich. Plus, you don't have to stay in big cities to enjoy life there, I'd prefer places like Manizales, Pereira, San Gil etc where cost of living is way less than 1500 a month

      @Sebastian. Thank you! This information is also for myself and my girlfriends plans on going overseas in the short future as well, so I'm trying my best in giving the most current information. I'm also getting some great information by commenters as well, which I was hoping for as well, so we have a well rounded idea of what we are getting ourselves into.
      We are also planning on going to one of the countries I've done a review for next month to visit, not mentioning where just yet, but will make a vlog about it to post!

    Thanks you for your video. As I approach retirement in USA we can't afford to live here and Colombia seems a good fit bc the weather, healthcare system and affordability. I know there are cons but where you don't find then nowadays. Based on your information me and my wife can afford a nice retirement in Colombia.

    The overall estimate of expenses of 1000/2000 USD per month is realistic but the monthly expenses listed here are unrealisticly low in my view. A $250 per month apartment in a good neighborhood is not gonna happen in a major city, and even then you'd need to buy your furniture. Then you'd need to find someone willing to rent to you without a local property owner as co-signer. You could find that price out in the country or a very small town. My monthly rent for a 2/2 in Medellin in a nice area runs me double what is quoted here and monthly utilities are much more expensive than quoted here. Bogota is much more expensive and temperatures in the coastal cities are steamy. So I think the pros are overstated but trust me Medellin is still the place to double your buying power. If you are willing to learn Spanish you'll do much better because not that many people speak English.

    I don’t know when this was made but I’m in Bogotá right now. In order to rent an apartment you have to get to guarantee years who own property to guarantee that you will pay the rent I will not take any kind of deposit it’s almost like a bail bond and white backed up by property. Unless you go do an Airbnb which is expensive you’re not gonna be able to rent.

    What is it like being Asian in Colombia? Any special experiences worth noting for Asian guys in Colombia?

    • @roninblue5885
      @roninblue5885  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      There are many Asian Latinos, generations worth, in South America, just not as well known to the mass media. Chinese and Japanese are the largest ancestries and the rest are Indians, Koreans, Filipinos and others. Brazilians are huge for this as well, they don't care about race. Peru's president used to be Japanese. Being Asian is nothing special, everyone tolerates each other, like in North America, were just like everyone else.

      Live somewhere else besides Bogota. I think most major roads are OK but side streets could use repair as well as sidewalks. There are Autopistas all over Colombia which compare somewhat to the U S Interstate highway system. Unless you're bound to Bogota by employment, you might try other parts of Colombia and lower elevations to enjoy warmer weather. Driving less than 1 hour from the capital puts you in banana and coffee regions, ALL are better than living in BOG. I disagree with your opinion about health care but then we each have different experiences, eh?

    • @AscendedWarriors
      @AscendedWarriors 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@donfss5088 well the health care opinion is based off asking other people and the fact that nothing seems to work properly. Really disorganized. I am not bound to bogota by employment since i work online. BUT i would have to rent out at least one of my apartments rooms. Then there is the fact that my gf is finishing her studies. After she is done i want to go to medellin with her and see if she prefers it. I think she will. Thats the plan
