    An European Bureau of Investigation (EBI) would be a great idea🇪🇺!
    We need an authority that can fight crime and terror across national borders🚔

    A stronger Europol would be a good idea. At least in some areas. But the oversight by the European Parliament must be strengthened first.

    Europol is based, I wonder why they get so little coverage most of the time. Just a few weeks ago they coordinated an operation in a dozen countries against Ndrangheta and arrested a 132 people, including a couple of the EU's most wanted. Pretty badass if you ask me, I'd love to see them get more power.

    As I think of my self as European first and German third (second is my home region) I am always for more autonomy for European institutions who help us grow closer together. I would think Europol should be for the EU what Schotland Yard is for the UK, the FBI is for the US and the BKA is for Germany

    Very cool video. I think it's hard for anyone to claim that this is a bad thing.
    I think it's nesesary in the modern world of international, high teach crime. A few months ago, they, along with local police in 4 counties (including mine) cracked down on a crypto scam organisation operating out of Serbia, Israel and 2 EU members. They were steeling from all over the world. About 127 thousand people were scammed. Only in Serbia they employeed between 150 and 200 people. Way to go Europol!

    Yet another EU institution that is basically rendered useless, thanks to lack of sovereignity.

  • @paul1979uk2000
    @paul1979uk2000 ปีที่แล้ว +4

    It makes sense to have an organisation like this, crime isn't restricted by boarders of a country and nor should law enforcement.
    Now there is cooperation and that does work to a degree, but it would be far more effective and likely cheaper to have a pan-European enforcement agency that has teeth.
    The truth is, as we advance, crime is very likely going to be a lot more cross boarder and eventually, we might need an international organisation that goes beyond Europol and the FBI.
    But like all things related to the EU, improvements and integration will be at an incremental step by step thing, as is needed, so it's very likely more powers will go towards Europol as it's likely going to be needed as criminals will find it easier to do cross boarder crimes as we become more advanced.

    The US is insane, where many European countries treat criminals too softly, the FBI and all treat everyone they suspect (not even sure of) in a very inhumane and barbaric way. We should be more harsh to criminals but the US should tone it down someties, they severely lack professionalism and act way too emotional to hold a gun imho.

    • @Qnexus7

      us is a case of its own, which boils down mostly to inadequate training and second amendment combined with easy access to guns. where every other other kid might have a revolver bigger than his head, cops tend to get nervous, understandably.

      @@jiggy7108So when they get out of prison they act like monsters? If you treat people like animals, they become animals, as the saying goes. Also prison is the punishment and the Human rights do not end just because you have broken the law. Also there is a reason why Scandinavia, whom have the most humanly prisons and work a lot on reeducation of the prisoners, also have the smallest amount of repeat offenders.
      So when you are finished pounding your chest and acting tough. Try using logic. Lets say we have a vile brutal criminal, whom are imprisoned. And while in prison, he is treated inhumanly and brutal. Now his sentence is over and he is a free man, well more beast than man, but still free. He could become your neighbor now. Would you like that idea? A brutal man taught, by your vision of prison, to hate everything you and society stands for. Because that is what you get. Or would you rather have a person, that while being in prison, has learned a new and better way to contribute to society.

    What role would an autonomous europol fill that national police + europol can't fill? I think looking at the US is a great example of why Federal police has issues. There's very poor oversight and huge consequences when they don't do their job correctly. Like PRISM and the countless civil asset forfeitures where the victims don't have any recourse at all, even less than when US state police do that.
