Love this video. But at the same time, I am saddened by the poverty and lack of development in some parts of Kano. Also in a way whilst I respect culture and religion but sometimes holding on too tightly to them can be a detriment. I am not against polygamy but I think it is wrong for any man to take on more than one wife and have numerous children unless they can afford to provide a very decent life for them all. It makes no sense to have 7 wives and 20 children if as a man you can afford to support them. And is it worth the money that Dambe is bringing in if at the end of the day those fighters are unable to enjoy it because they are handicapped or dead?
In spite of that, I still love to see our African people working hard trying to make a decent living even with very little help from some of our leaders.
    Great video bro.

You are very right sir and that is what the Quran teaches marry one wife and if u are capable and want to do it then, marry more than one wives but most northern men marry 3 to 4 wives and can not take care of them and there kids which is a very big sin...what brought about 4 wives started in earlier times when men use to go for wars and most men died so there were less men than women so it was allowed to marry women most especially the widows, the divorcee and the older ones but this days all some men do is go about and marry women 20 years younger than their first wife am not saying its wrong but if u are not capable please don't do it and suffer innocent children and women

Islamicly you are correct, yes marry one wife if you can't do justice to multiple wife and not having money to take care of them is definitely doing injustice to them.

People are always criticizing North's illiteracy. One must makes it clear what illiteracy he is referring to. Western education illiteracy or illiteracy in it's entirety? Vast majority of the northerners can read and write in Arabic language. It's literacy! Isn't it? Nobody is arguing that North is left far behind concerning Western education status but if literacy means 'ability to read or write', then northerners are literate. The number of people that can memorize The holy Qur'an offhand are in millions.

    • @kingxmena

I am a northerner and muslim, but let's not lie to ourselves, most northerners truly are illiterate, both in terms of western and even Islamic education. Sure, majority of us can read the Quran in arabic, but how many of us actually know the meaning of what we're reading? Literacy entails being able to understand what you read, write, and apply it meaningfully.

@@kingxmena that is your kind of thinking, unlike you I have came across so many comments from allover the world identifying Hausa people as the most generous in Nigeria infact even the colonial master said it, but the problem is envy lack knowledge and self centered of the people saying that as a result of brain washed,I wonder how one will describe what he has no knowledge of. I happen to understand that some people take education and civilization as tribe, religion, culture or race,if you do not belong to them, then you are not and that is that even if someone know about Nigeria history the colonials rules north by indirect rule and the reason is because of their education and civilization as at that time they the only ones that have a form writing and reading which is the reason why the colonials employ them as their secretaries in their various colony across Africa.

Correction; 1. Kaduna is the Capital of Nothern Nigeria. Kano is the commercial center of the North.
    2. Up North: We aren’t Poor or Illiterates. Before the advent of western civilization in Africa, Northern Nigeria had their working ruling and educational system (Arabic and Islamic knowledge). Farming and trade had been in existence in Nothern Nigeria since Pre-colonial era. I’ll urge you to conduct more research Up North, there are a lot of things you don’t know.

      @ifeanyipaschal2614 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

There's poverty everywhere in Nigeria; there's a reason Nigeria was confirmed the world's poverty capital some years back.
Poverty is even worse in the north where beggars surprisingly form unions! I remember these beggars threatening to oust the Former Governor of Kaduna State, Nasir El-Rufai, at some point. Today, the South is welcoming a truckload of beggars from Northern Nigeria. These are facts that nobody can hide.
The problem of Nigeria is that we are comfortable living in denial and we have accepted anomalies as norms. Those who question why the status quo remains unchanged are called haters or enemies of the state.
This doesn't in any way suggest that Nigeria's north has no positives, but we proudly carry the poverty badge, and we don't even elect the right leaders to help us change the lachrymal narrative.

Afternoon watching this video, my natural reaction is to ask this guy who the he'll he think he is? He is talking ⁶ Kanu the way white people talk about Africa.
He mentioned that he left his comfort zone 😆 🤣 😂 where ? In Nigeria? The guy misguided people with the title to gain clicks, when I fact he just wanted to put Kano and its people down.
How Kano's poverty is different than other poor areas of Nigeria and Africa?
How Kano's polygamy is different than other parts of Nigeria and Africa? Africans are polygamous by nature. The difference with Muslims they marry those wives, but not just impregnate them and leave them.
He mentioned that he left his comfort zone. Which comfort zone??? From Istanbul to Kano? Abuja is definitely not Dubai? Nor Istanbul? Nigerians complained that he chose not to show the good places of Kano. Instead he acted like a paid ennemy to disgrace that state. I am not African or Black, but tell me why a black Africa person would make that kind of video if it's not on purpose. The Christian states of Nigeria are developed??? Show us!!! Shame on you..And on top of it, people in Kano practice african culture more than religion.Their mentality is more African than Muslim. In islam no street figh with blood, no 20 wives.
Shame on you...Wode Maya would never never never make such of filthy work. He does everything from his heart not from getting paid to destroy others. Shame on you. You have a slave mentality. This is why Black people still suffer today. They suffer more from betrayals like you than white people. Such a blessed country, yet we are fighting over silly things. they must be something wrong with us collectively as a people, instead of us celebrating our rich heritages across board, we are busy fighting over nothing. No country in the world is as blessed as Nigeria but for some weird reason, we are constantly battling. Most southern Nigerians have little or no clue about how rich the north is. we think Nigeria is Lagos and Abuja and Port Harcourt, and always see things from that perspective.
Ask an average southerner what he or she knows about the north, it's what he has heard and seen from videos online. The taxi man said all you need to know about the North, RESPECT THEIR RELIGION AND CULTURE and you will be fine. That is very very true, once you know that, you have almost known everything. Thank you for sharing this interesting information about kano. I was born in kano and that's where I grew up. My dad's hausa but my mom is from Edo and am so grateful to be born into a family like this because it made me realize and understand the difference between the North and South. I've also been to alot of states in the North and South. I would love to highlight two things. Firstly, the fact that two (they are more than two trust me😪) of the most richest men in Africa are from kano and nothing is absolutely done by them to eradicate a large amount of poverty and illiteracy in the North. My mom told me in some Southern part of the nation when a rich/wealthy man relocates to an area of the less privileged, the first thing he does is make provision of good education for the children in that community. This is something you hardly see in the North. Majority of them are just to themselves and their families. Secondly, the fact that alot of Southern criticism against Northern region is absolutely unfair. And this are people who have never been to the North but rather listen to what the media say. I remember a guy on Twitter who said "the northern population is not that much cause it's a desert" and this is someone who has never been to the north. Kano's lifestyle is still cheap compared to the cost of living we facing RN and other states costs. We absolutely live in peace with all the tribes that come to kano, we don't discriminate nor snub but as that man said don't you dare mess with our religion and culture because at that point the hausa's will drop their sense and the rest will be left for you to know when you cross that line. Good review of kano but alot of places are yet to be explored by you. Keep on the good work Mr Ned. P.S the Abuja real estate review you did is still my best 👌.

Alot of people from all over Nigeria or even other African countries troops to Kano for greener posture and as the result of over population is bound to look as you see kano like this, more the level of poverty and illiteracy wasn't the way people put it, some people only think that western education is the only source of education but Kano people with the Islamic education reach the highest level of civilization even before the colonial masters, which the Kano people are proud of,till these days.

Well Kano is a very nice place, as for the English aspect if u want to meet more educated people u can go to sabon Gari cause there u meet different tribes not just the Hausa's, the Hausa's too are educated I just think this is based on the individuals u meet.

Great job Steven. Keep it up 👍
However, I think you somewhat shortchanged Kano, as there are more nice places to see. Lake Bagauda, Tiga Dam and more.

Kano state was 9.4 million in 2006 and there is no way it would be up to 20 million in 2022
