Hard to believe this figure is only 52mm tall. Great close up vid, amazing result. Love it. 😎😎😎😎😎😎
Thanks Sera much appreciated !
Such a good guide, normally I just do basic painting on my figure but this has encouraged me to try some more detail and try using different coats of paint.
Thanks man ! Best of luck , it's a fun adventure getting into more advanced figure techniques
Thanks for this very helpful video !!!!
You are very welcome !
James this video was sooooooooo inspiring. I've always fancied painting a figure but never had the knowhow or confidence to try. Watching your video has finally set my mind to have a go.
Alan Best of luck ! Take your time and don't be afraid to mess up
Can’t wait!!
Hope you enjoy it 🎉
@@lpjmodels I already know i will with how amazing every other video of yours are. You truly deserve more attention with ur superb work and content, Keep it up!!
@@jurassicollie7458 thanks Ollie much appreciated, sadly TH-cam loves weekly uploads and i just can't manage that :p
The crosshatching completely surprised me. You couldn’t notice it at all come the end.
Thanks Matt ! Do you think it adds a slight texture or did I go too far covering it?
Amazing video ! Such quality works magnify by a superb resolution and filming skill. Thank you !
Many thanks ! I was worried the white was too strong
@@lpjmodels Perfect white balance for me.
Absolutely wonderful results. I’m trying to improve my figure painting this year so I’ll be trying this technique. It looks fantastic!
Thanks a lot ! It's a small effect that adds a bit more texture imo. Good luck mate 🍺
This an excellent video. I love that you don’t assume any prior Knowledge. It’s very accessible and I can’t wait to try the techniques myself! Thank you very much for the care and effort that you put into this video.
Thanks Wayne ! I'm looking at ways of sorting the brightness issues I have had so hopefully future vids ( apart from ones in the bank) will improve a little more :)
The fig cam out great James, bummer with the door, I'm sure you will figure it out, Miniart have some nice Urban accessory models with doors, lamp posts, fences, benches and what not, I used these for one of my dioramas. 😁
Thanks Chris, much appreciated ! The miniature stuff is really nice, just was stubborn on my end with this one. The whole little scene needs a rethink. I'm sure something will pop up :)
Wow! So nice and good to see and follow! Nice sharing!
Many thanks 😊
great video again.
Thank you my friend!
Damn,I can’t lie,but the wait is worth while.I am a pretty dogwater figure painter, and seeing one of my favourite modeller paint and Teach me alongside,is Beautiful. Thanks James and have a Happy Easter!🥚🐇
Thanks KG ! Glad you enjoyed the vid, happy easter 🐣!
Happy I am !!!! It s to long for wainting your talent at work
I am sorry that it takes me so long to get a video out :D although better to not rush things and get a nice result:D
@@lpjmodels it will be amazing like the others .thanks to share your work with us.
I always enjoy your videos. Cant wait to try the cross hatching technique.
Thank you John 😊
This turned out fantastic, James! I'm going to have to try this method on my next figure
Thanks mate, let us know how you get on
Thanks 👍👍👍
You're welcome 😊
This is good for beginners, Thanks bro~
No problem!
Great job! Thanks for sharing!
Thanks for watching!
Great looking figure 👏👌 interesting approach texturing the highlights with the brush strokes, looks really good👍
Blown my mind that video James! Something to aim for as I’m just recently back into the scale model hobby! Thanks for the great video! 👍
Thanks Marc !
That is a really well painted figure. I am getting to enjoy figure painting as I get better at it but I think the key is taking time to build up the highlights and lowlights. At 52mm that makes the figure nearly 6ft tall but with the hat and boots another couple of mm top to toe might have helped. This said some doors to bigger buildings are quite tall but in that setting the door does look out of scale unfortunately.
Oh yeah !
Hi James, that was a really good painting tutorial, I liked the was you brought the figures face alive, when the green was going on, I thought it was way too bright, but once dry it wax perfect, congratulations on a great video, best regards from a Kiwi living in Australia, Les
Thanks Les ! The vallejo green is a bit notorious for being a funny shade, I think the other shades helped knock it back some
I love building armour and making dioramas but my figures suck after watching your tutorial im going to copy your method and see what i can achieve.
Thanks Lee , figures are a funny one, they take a lot of practice to get to a comparable standard to our vehicles but in the end its worth it !
that hatching blended really nicely
i also use oil for wood, but i also like to use it for leather
Nice👏
Interesting approach on painting this figure and really nice result and love that you show what did not work out!
😎🤓😎🤓🤩
😀 thank you 😊
Damn fine work cousin james!
I much prefer figures with helmets on their heads. But the paintjob is fantastic.
It looks really good. I have been testing glazes and I think that should be able to work with low dry brushing instead of cross hatching and then a glaze over that. What do you think?
I don't see why it wouldn't work ! Just be careful of buildup of paint
@@lpjmodels I'm going to try it
Quite surprised you didn't go with a ZF prime and Glazing painting rather than straight on with the colour over black
To be honest I have done it in the past, mainly to help with shadow position, but I end up covering the zenithal quickly. I wanted to try different things andIf we all did the same it would be boring !
In today's episode....BRICKS
I like the end result but I'm not cut out to be a brick maker 😀
Great job. Did the parts of the figure need a lot of clean up or not?
No a little scrape that was all
And thankyou !
take atention on Y straps , metall buckles and leather parts ;p mainly on back
Thanks for taking the time to watch and thank you for the constructive words. I still have a long way to go and lots to learn. It all helps
I think that vignette could be used with a 1/16 scale figure.
damn that is a tidy figure
Nicely done! Idefinitely will give this hatching methode a try before my regular glaze approach.
The figure itself however look awfully comically :(
Scale75 can do better, I think…
Thank you! I don't know, I know the expression is a bit over the top but I find more pronounced features easier to paint. Maybe my paint style doesn't help?
@@lpjmodels You're absolutly right, it makes some difference if it's a 12 EUR figure set or one 15 EUR figure.
Your painting methode is defenitly something I would like to achive by myself ;)
Excellent work. Love the texture on the uniform👍
Such a good guide, normally I just do basic painting on my figure but this has encouraged me to try some more detail and try using different coats of paint.
