This movie is terrific. I absolutely love the narrative arc of the relationship between Lois and MA. Both actors clearly understand it thoroughly and give a fantastic performance.
I love this movie, although everything is done according to the time it took place it still has a punk rock feel to it that shines through :) SO GOOD:)
Hm. The real Louis' hand was shaking when he put the ring on her finger. But Marie actually did write her name that badly on the marriage contract. Least they got that part right.
@nauticalotters true she may have been a bit irresponsible but she was young, and thrust into something that she wasn't ready for. and second ...she wasn't totally responsible for france's debt. There were many factors that played into it
This was how King Louis the XIV orchestrated this for Versailles. The highest of the court were taken care of by members of court by blood. The meals were indeed overseen by court eyes. King Louis the XIV wanted it structured this way take control. Taking many of the other royal courtiers rights of privilege away. Leaving only the King and Queen or Prince and Princess be above the rest. Power is what Louis the XIV had envisioned for the palace. But yes I agree with Marie Antoinette how ridiculous the set up was to get dressed.
I didn't mean during this era. Thanks to my computer, I realized it wasn't written as I initially inputted. What I meant, was in later periods, my family was well received, and brought up as Upper individual's due to certain circumstances. It was in much later years that this occurred, but obviously my computer seems to think otherwise.
Because it depends on the genes and where the genes go my moms brown hair brown eyes dad blond hair and blue eyes i have a brother with brown hair and eyes so it just all depends
If short - it's because brown hair and eyes are a dominant gene. So in most cases children of a blue-eyed woman and a brown-eyed man (or vice versa) will have brown eyes. That's if veeery simplified.
Their main duties was the ceremonies and the etiquete, thing that Marie Antoinette didn't understood. She was not accustomed to such extremes in the more informal court of Austria.
All french ppl at the palace treated that louis n marie like clowns. How come many servants n ppl were allowed to enter their wedding chamber & even watched marie undressed ? I think her husband was gay, there were rumors about him spending a little too much time with the stable boy and its sad because everyone saw it as Marie's fault and in my opinion, it really wasn't... :c
I completely agree with Marie about the protocol being ridiculous, she was naked and so cold, they really should've just give her the dress so she wasn't cold.
I don’t think they had to be naked like that. In Jeanne Du Barry, the king is covered with a sheet. Most things in movies are not real or they are exaggerated. It’s best to do your research to find out what is real and what is not.
You may have realised that none of the actors speak with a french accent, right? It's a thing in movies. The language in which the movie was shot (or dubbed) is assumed to be the language in which the story is supposed to play out. So the English they're speaking is supposed to be French, the English accent supposed to be a French one. It's only us behind the fourth wall who hear it as English. If someone in a movie like this speaks with a different accent, that's done to highlight that the French of that person wasn't very good. That's also why Kirsten Dunst does not speak with a different accent than the other actors who play the people in Versailles. ecause the real Marie Antoinette wouldn't have had a different accent than other French nobles (not even an Austrian one). Like many nobles in Europe, she grew up with French and likely spoke it as fluently (if not more so) as she spoke German.
