My Goodness, this is supposed to be Austrian? I first thought this was Dutch! I had to listen to that scene at least 5 times until I understood few words at least! 😂
Her half sister catholic, was surnamed "Bloody Mary", because she had killed 300 so-called heretics protestants, and Elizabeth the "protestant", had killed quite more until 500 people ! Who was the worst bloody ! This Elite are all piece of shit ! Vampires !
I can see why queen Elizabeth didn't get married all her suitors were losers and that lord duddly giy screwed her over and with all honesty she wasn't going to put up with any mans shit.
I know all these scenes are about ER I and Cate Blanchet was incredible in all of these scenes. But, Vincent Cassel also stole every single scene as well. What a phenomenal actor!
What make it funny for me is that the French guy wæs dress like a women but then again it’s not heard for Frenchman to act like a women when they our women 😂🤣😭
I still can't believe the ninth doctor was in this movie. I think I can rightfully say, Cate is A beautiful woman. She's my top pick in playing Hera is they ever make A movie center around the Greek Gods.
Bit of trivia. The fake Duke of Anjou was played by Sir Tim Bevan. He with Eric Fellner created Working Title Films which produced both Elizabeth films. Their other credits are Four Weddings and A Funeral, Pride and Prejudice (2005), Bridget Jones movies, Darkest Hour, Baby Driver, Hot Fuzz, Love Actually, About A Boy and many more.
I think if English law had not given a man absolute ownership over all his wife's property and literal person that Elizabeth probably would have been happy to marry. But for her getting married means she literally handed her entire domain to someone else who was not born to be monarch. I know it was after her passing that the laws were put in that spouses have no right of rule and no right of succession, because of the problems caused during her reign by the old rules.
Elizabeth absolutely had the right idea. And her strategy was smart. She inherited a country that had economic and diplomatic problems. Her "game of suitors" kept everyone on the leash, hoping to become her consort. So no one could pursue war against her. This bought her country time to work on its internal problems.
It is highly inaccurate though. It is unfortunatly common for foreigners like the English to make fun of the French in movies... Here, Henri, duke of Anjou is portrayed as a caricature, but historically it is François, duc d'Alençon who came to visit Elisabeth and it was long after what we saw in the movie. François was a serious suitor, he pursuied marriage for political reasons with diplomatic negociations rather than extravagant behavior like we witnessed here... David Starkey or Alison Weir mentionned in their books how François came multiple times for pourparlers to unite the two reals. In the movie, Henri's exentric behavior, used for comedic effect, only serves to illustrate the "cultural" and political incompatibility between Elisabeth and her foreign suitors, that reinforces Elisabeth sense of isolation and strong will to remain independent.
I think that the Archduke of Austria spoke wierd and hardly understandable beacuse Austria was under the Habsburgs at the time, who were the most inbred royal dynasty.
She did like him and would have married the Archduke but someone in his party pulled a fast one and insisted if he became Holy Roman Emperor then Elizabeth would have to become a Catholic. The rest they say is history.
No wonder she stayed single. Of course a Haspberg marriage would have change the whole of europe let alone britian. Things would be way different now. Elizabeth was a working royal. Interested in protecting england.
It's so tiring hearing men talk about women as if we can't be understood. He forced himself on her and expected her to fall to her knees in love with him. Would he have appreciated a strange woman or man for that matter doing the same thing? He pissed her off. Her favourite hadn't done so, yet. Also, his behaviour is like her father's, who was a brute. Henry 8 pulled the same kind of thing on Anne of Cleves, and also got upset when she didn't like it. Not all women want to marry their fathers.
0.53 Why do people drag out the King Erik XIV is/was mad? We know that it was political slander and for hus brother to size power. Elizabeth reaction her is a historical.
Just the way the treats the Austrian guy like he's the cutest thing in the world is so great❤😂
My Goodness, this is supposed to be Austrian? I first thought this was Dutch! I had to listen to that scene at least 5 times until I understood few words at least! 😂
"The austrian guy" excuse me that's the Archduke Charles of Austria, an impressive historical figure
He is cute 😊 there would be a very strong temptation to mother him.
The way she prtected that boy was so kind.
She saw his innocence.⚔️👑🐣🪷💎
Now I want to watch the film again.
I love her so much! She's a strong and independent woman. 👑

When Anjou came out wearing a dress and saying "what?!" I died laughing 😂
Vincent Cassels scenes were best
Such a genius of an actress. Very subdued yet powerful performance.
Pulling out the portrait was equivalent to today’s match making.
Swipe right ;)
@@Skyebright1 lmao 😂
Virginia? And when I marry will you change the name to Conjugia? cannot stop laughing...!
If this was tinder, each of them just got swiped left lol

Most marriages had nothing to do with love in those days.
Cate embodies the essence of elizabeth, her famous sassy and witty remarks remind how witty and intelligent elizabeth was irl
I like the way she laughs
Vincent Cassel plays so well that clown, love his acting here. Cate should have won the Oscar, but we all know that, right?
Actually Vincent scared a number of people with his acting because he was so unpredictable.
@@einezcrespo2107 he steals the scenes.
Yes we do. Cate is on another level. One that most actors don't even come close to.
I can see why queen Elizabeth didn't get married all her suitors were losers and that lord duddly giy screwed her over and with all honesty she wasn't going to put up with any mans shit.
@KH *except
YESSS
THIS MOVIE IS NOT ACCURATE HISTORICALLY..
Danjou is crazyyyy 😆 😆 he’s half a mood . Half. He’s got spunk. However I couldn’t imagine anyone being this forward with the queen of that time. 😂
I know all these scenes are about ER I and Cate Blanchet was incredible in all of these scenes. But, Vincent Cassel also stole every single scene as well. What a phenomenal actor!
Damn just damn. I was tempted in the past to watch this but I’m convinced
It's fun to watch. Do NOT get hung up on historical accuracy. The Elizabeth movies take quite a lot of liberty with historical facts.
Well spent blood of Anne Boylen, she is the male heir of Henry the 8th , she's the queen of all above, Long Live Queen Elizabeth 1
In my native language french word la clé (key) sounds similar to the word describing male organ, that made these scene even more funnier :D
What make it funny for me is that the French guy wæs dress like a women but then again it’s not heard for Frenchman to act like a women when they our women 😂🤣😭
idk if u noticed but thats what he was pointing out since some ppl speculated that the queen might've been a man
I still can't believe the ninth doctor was in this movie. I think I can rightfully say, Cate is A beautiful woman. She's my top pick in playing Hera is they ever make A movie center around the Greek Gods.
If elizabeth had tinder, she would swipe on everyone

Not here. This portrayal of Anjou was done by Vincent Cassel. He's VERY WELL known for playing off-beat characters, sometimes who are VERY campy.

Don’t get married lol
Huh 😕 did not understand
She didn't get married because of what his father did.
@@kateu.bragado695 not only that but after the death of Catherine Howard as well which really affected her.

German and French personalities are quiet the difference

There are different personalities within countries as well. If you went with the stereotypes of these countries it’s not far off.
The kiss bruh it made me laugh
She looks like Elizabeth in real life,I think
Parecidissima.
3:41 "Remove your hand before I remove your head."
I love her❤️
Cate Blanchet what an Australian gem of an actress. ❤
Cate Blanchett ❤️❤️
I think that the Archduke of Austria spoke wierd and hardly understandable beacuse Austria was under the Habsburgs at the time, who were the most inbred royal dynasty.
Or, he simply could barely speak english. You don't see him stutter like that when he and Elizabeth talk to each other in german.
Never ever get married(. I find impossible far more interesting then possible
For me if there is something good in this movie it is Vincent Cassel, he is a joy ❤❤❤
Gosh .....I've seen this more than 3x I think 😅
The kiss scene is beautiful and funny😄
I dont know why they make the young one so silly from history sake lizzy seem to quite like him

Is anyone more beautiful than Joseph Feinnes ...
l love Cate and this movie soooo much❤
Wspaniala rola tej aktorki.
The dress😂😂
She loved her Robert, but he was already married and very, very unsuitable
Encore une fois Vincent cassel dans un rôle de composition.
Those plots and pressure is exactly why, not.
Love yiu
2:13 there would have been the time that a hundred swords would be drawn and pointed at him for doing that?
Didn’t her and Anjou get together in real life even though they never ended up together?
I think she got married rather early. At the start of her Hollywood career really.
She was unimpressed the whole time 0.47 😭
