The Young Rascals were from Garfield, New Jersey. Between 1966-1968 the New Jersey band reached the top 20 of the Billboard Hot 100 with nine singles, includes "Good Lovin" (1966) "Groovin" (1967) "People Got To Be Free" (1968) "How Can I Be Sure"(#4 1967) "Beautiful Morning" (#3 1968) "A Girl Like You" (#10 1967) They were inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 1997. This song I've Been Lonely Too Long (1967). Peaked at #16 on Billboards Hot 100. The lead singer Felix Cavaliere had lots of Soul and Rythm & Blues in his voice. They were one of my favorite groups back when I was young in the glorious 60's.

The Rascals are one of many under appreciated groups of the 1960’s. Buckinghams, Yardbirds, Dave Clark 5, Four Seasons, The Animals, Johnny Rivers, Gerry & The Pacemakers, Box Tops, etc. Ya’ll have barely touched the surface of rock music.

One of the Rascals' best tunes ever, the amazing Dino Danelli on drums, the soulful voice and keyboard sounds of Felix Cavaliere, and the gorgeous backing vocals of Eddie Brigati and Gene Cornish make this a classic. It's a wonderful message, you don't have to be lonely anymore. I am so happy that you, Shawn and Mel, are digging one of my favorite bands ever and one of their greatest songs. I sure hope you get to one day play - "What is the Reason", "Come on Up", "See", "A Ray of Hope", "Carry Me Back", "I Ain't Gonna Eat Out My Heart Anymore."

Thank you for hearing my suggestion. The most overlooked band of this era. I couldn't be happier that you've found this great band. There was also a copycat band called The Soul Survivors who did a wonderful song called "Expressway To Your Heart" written and produced by Gamble and Huff, two Motown writers, that has that unique "Rascals sound. Give that a listen. I had the incredible pleasure to see these guys twice before 1970. Their groove, soul, and authenticity has always been clear. As I've said, as a black man, it never seemed that these guys were appropriating soul music, but adding to it. Yet they were such a unique band. Such a shame that Felix and Eddie, once so close, never buried the hatchet. Thanks again.

The Rascals prior to signing a record deal were considered one of the greatest live acts ever. They did a residency at the famous Peppermint Lounge in New York City. The birthplace of the song and dance “The Peppermint Twist”. You can hear their experience playing together as a group on all their records and live performances. Internal personality conflicts did them in. But, what a run they had.

Saw these guys twice in concert. They put on a great show! Blue-eyed SOUL at its absolute finest. Felix (on the Hammond and lead vocal) still performs with the guitar player Gene. Eddie the usual lead singer and back up vocals chooses not to travel anymore. Sadly, Dino, the drummer recently passed away. I know someone who actually travels with the band on occasion. Thanks for doing this.
