    The June 5th announcement of the Vison Pro was more of a concept unveiling rather than a ‘Pre orders starts on on Friday and available for pick up next week’. it debuted a solid foundation of a new product category that’s still very much in development, both for hardware and even more so for software. I suspect the more public demos will be around a spring event in 2024.

    I noticed the way you could tell if someone had experienced a demo or not was the hands-on people simply _gushed_ over the device whereas others simply expounded the specs and data from the presentation.
    This is how you can tell that this device is a paradigm shift - but you may have to experience the device to see why. Apple Vision Pro may be the most personal device Apple has yet created.
    I intend to hold off until at least gen 2 and maybe a bit longer - I'm afflicted with lazy-eye so I know from my use of the Sony Playstation VR2 that these devices are less immersive if you can't experience true convergent stereoscopic vision. Hopefully by gen 2 they'll allow a dominant eye to do the tracking.

    There was an  Vision Pro demo, just not on-stage, and were done only for attendees. Apple's keynotes have been prerecorded since 2020, so I never expected a live demonstration of anything. The video segment in the keynote gave a clear explanation of how the tech works and its use cases.

  • @respect386

    The way they could have done it is invite tech journalists before the event, film their reaction and then show those reactions after the introduction as a demo proxy. They do this all the time with new Macs by giving them to experts/developers.
    The best way to show value is to have someone they trust explain why it’s so powerful, which they kind of got through coverage but missed it during the announcements.

    I kind of wish they would allow more media to have access to it across the world through their apple stores. The fact that a massive XR TH-camr such as Thrillseeker has not been allowed to test it is blasphemy and honestly worrisome as he is by far the best VR/AR source for comparisons.

    Great video. I think this will be a huge success, but primarily with Apple’s core users. Apple’s base has always demanded the best user experience over a cheaper price. Apple, before Cook was a high end tech company for high end buyers. Apple’s introduction of the Vision Pro had to achieve very specific goals that I believe they met. They presented a standalone device, a complete operating system and the combination of hardware and software that took that device well beyond the technology of their competitors. The people who can afford a new, polished and sophisticated technology will buy this in droves. The good news is Cook will undoubtedly develop an Air or SE version for me. Jobs era would have left it to the used market.

    Seems to me this tech is wayyy too difficult to demo live, and they haven’t figured it out yet. It would be cool to do projected “holograms” on glass or something with practical effects, but i imagine there will always be cgi with these demos because of the nature of the tech

    I would say the biggest thing people forget about it is that this was announced at their software developer conference. So it was for the developers more than it was for the consumers. It's def not ready for the market. It was all a concept announcement if anything. Everyone complained that the headset was too heavy. Bingo. Apple is taking notes immediately. Why hire out for this job when you can have everyone else give feedback for free.

    • @amitthehuman
      @amitthehuman ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I don't think that's true. Yeah, it's technically a "developer's conference", but they're also announcing a new product line for the first time. The announcement looks like a commercial and they later even had a state of the union address that actually talked to developers about the details relevant to them. Let's not pretend that apple wasn't fully aware of all the fans watching.

    I know this sounds counterintuitive but I think Eyesight will be key for marketing the device and inspiring envy in others IRL. Because they have your digital face on the front they can blend graphics from whatever the VP user is seeing with their Eyesight face. Imagine dappled light from a forest, caustics from a body of water, or flying embers from a fire flowing across the user's face -all realistically lighting their face. I think the Eyesight screen will help explain what the device does and what the user is experiencing for the masses in one fell swoop. This will help normalize wearing a headset not just because you can see the user's eyes but because the concept of mixed reality gets across like that *snaps finger*.

    This is one of the largest companies in the world introducing the future of their company after 8 years of development. They had a fully edited video to work with, yet they absolutely failed to build hype within it. The only enthusiasm comes second hand from people talking about it. They had all the resources to do what they did with the iphone announcement and more. I think even a basic screen capture with a prototype would have been better than nothing. To me it seems that Apple has just become too big and calculated for its own good. Oh my god can the fanbase please stop glazing Steve Jobs and hating on Tim Cook for no reason?! They’re two entirely different products released at entirely different times, maybe they just didn’t think it was necessary. It’s not even a Tim Cook thing; the Apple Watch presentation included a demonstration on stage, just not by Cook himself. People just like poking whatever holes they can in new stuff and glorifying the past for no reason
    It would have been weird to do a demo anyways because Apple keynotes are pre-taped now rather than live like the iPhone presentation was, so it would have felt a bit awkward to randomly play a pre-recorded video of Tim Cook using the thing, especially when we can’t actually see what he’s seeing unless there’s a weird dual screen set-up thingy.

  • @LionheartTM
    @LionheartTM ปีที่แล้ว

    Nah the issue with the front screen is. "Eyesight" can only bring and track 1 person in to VR at a time. The front display can only do its thing towards one person at a time. If you are in a room demoing it with loads of people it could be unpredictable or do the wrong person. So if it was filmed say and didn't display to the wright person it would create bad PR.

      @@TailosiveTech One of the reviewers at the event mentioned that apple said only one person can be faded in at a time. As far as the front display. Lenticular Displays can show different images at different angles. Apple are using it to fake 3D depth. I guess it depends on what exacly they are doing. Is it like those creepy pictures where the Eyes follow you so it looks like you are looking at every one at the same time to them or will any angle show you are looking in one direction. Either way the same result that its either going to make it look like the person is looking at the wrong person. Or if it can only bring one person in and display that you are looking at that person it could maybe do the wrong person when filmed.
      It will be interesting to see how it works when people finaly get them though for sure.

The headset at the moment isn't meant for consumers, apple isn't foolish to sell a 3,500 headset to their average consumers. It's meant for developers, people into new tech. @@arandomguy46ey should have a Apple glass for $429(at least less than $1000) that have a projection screen and runs on the iPhone, the primary goal is to let the masses adopt VR first, no one have done it, not everyone wearing it everywhere, a glass from factor with inputs like digit crown and touch pad and output with a screen alongside a battery and SSD, the iPhone and the glasses communicating with ultra wide band connections. Maybe some simple cameras and LiDAR for AR stuff. Then they can slowly phase out the iPhone with the ‘Pro’ version which is slightly bulkier but still glass from factor with similar design, have it’s own chip, with better camera system. They can also easily have a ring for motion detection, works nearly as well as the hand tracking tech now and cost way less. After the iPhone and the budget iPad is phased out, they can start phasing out Macs and iPad Air/Pros with desktop classed feature such as better connectivity and better performance. Carrying iPhone isn’t that big of a deal if it reduces a bunch of the weight. It make no sense to make an iPhone as bulky as possible so an M1 chip can be fitted in. The desktop experience is still there as it links to everything, you can’t carry a Mac Studio on the go but it’s there. While I respect your simplistic approach to making videos, there is a baseline and the audio in this vid is below that baseline. Please at least run it through voice isolation. The echo was just a bit too distracting.

    So I think AR is the future but when and only when full AR capability fits into a standard pair of glasses/sunglasses!. When you can put a pair of glasses on have directions overlayed in the world in-front of you, get to a train station and it shows you where to go which platform, train times. If your in another country real time translation of written words you don’t understand and what people are saying!. With battery that lasts like half a week!.
    All of the a clunky big and heavy headset it won’t be going anywhere!. Baring in mind these AR glasses that will replace the mobile phones/the iPhone, Mac computers, iPads. They need to have the technology to cram an iPhone, Mac Studio, iPad, sat nav with a battery that lasts days into the space and size of a regular pair of sunglasses!. It’s obvious with battery tech alone we are unfortunately decades from that point!. It’s definitely the future just not near future!.

    We can’t keep saying shit, without proof. You haven’t even tested the Vision Pro in a demo.

    Apple lost everyones interest on the Vision Pro with the price $3499… and that’s starting from!… imagine if they just waited a few more years and they managed to reduce the size/weight by 50%, increased the battery without having a plug in battery pack and came in at $999… the thing will fly off the shelf.

      Apple has a home run on their hands. When these actually hit the broader market, Apple won't be able to keep up with the initial demand....that will drive them to offer a lower cost, less feature-rich "non-pro" version called the Vision HOME...as soon as 8-12 months after the OG Vision Pros.....just wait. The idea that consumers will balk at being "isolated" from the outside world or rebel against wearing a headset is ludicrous. Just look at Americans now with their noses pressed against their smartphones...EVERYWHERE !! ... if they could, they would jump inside.
