I've listened to his entire discography and this is my favourite song. I listen to it every night when I feel like I don't want to go to sleep because I don't want to face the next day... It's giving me a sense of "someone understands me, I'm not alone, with his help I can do this", I can sleep in peace and then face life again.
Bless you. The old adage "we can't expect to be loved until we love ourselves" comes to mind. I was always bullied when I was young and that imprinted on me throughout adult life and I felt "not good enough" and lacked confidence- I even thought I was bullied because I was ugly. It was only in later life that I did a lot of learning to love myself work and I now see that I was never ugly and more importantly people respond to me so differently and I get loads of love from people who say my beauty shines from within and that I'm beautiful inside and out.
Find the tools you need to truly love yourself and let the beauty within you shine ✨️

We need to stop thinking of "good personality" as a consolation prize. In the end, it's all we have, and it matters so much more.
I love it when you guys are brought into deep conversations by Ren's music! In his live 360-degree performance of the Tale of Jenny and Screech, he gives a speech about how divided we've all become. It's pretty amazing, because he talks about the yin and the yang, choosing one side or another, how we don't listen to each other anymore or try to meet each other in the middle. Near the end of it he talks about finding ugliness in the beauty and beauty in the ugliness. Reminded me of the "pendulum swinging from the dark to the light" and the "dance" in Hi Ren. It's a consistent theme in his music. Another theme that he's brought up several times is that in order for us to change things, we need to look within ourselves and see how we are part of the problem. That's helped me to see that I've become entrenched in one particular political or spiritual side, and it really helps to step out of that blindness in order to find solutions to problems, etc. Shit, Ren says it a lot better...

The background 'scratchy noise' really bugged me in this song, then I realized it was there on purpose, Ren not 'covering up the flaws', the message of the song.

about the bullying topic: Yeah, some people might grow from it but imo it's not worth the people who get bullied and unalive themselves because of it or just suffer life long trauma from it. I've grown despite my trauma, I could have gotten equally strong if not even stronger if I would have had friends and a support network as a kid. But I've suffered through it and even though I can now relate to other people's struggles a lot better, the trauma, the flash backs, the nightmares, the anxiety, the depression it's just not worth it.
and about the fat-shaming topic: I don't think anyone is unhealthily overweight for no reason. No matter if it's depression, no impulse control or coping mechanisms. But shaming someone because of their weight gets them nowhere. If you want to help these people, be a friend to them, encourage them to be healthier, help them find the cause of it all and a way out. Because if you just tell them they're less because of their weight all that will do is drive them even deeper into depression and self-hate.
There is NOTHING good that bullying does that a good friend couldn't do as well
Totally agree. Both extremes are related to trauma of one kind or another. They're "a coin with two different sides" and if you show one side sympathy and the other 'tough love' I'm afraid you're just displaying your own prejudices. If you wouldn't dream of telling an anorexic person they just need to eat more... and dress it up as concern for their health? Well, then.

Love this one so much. I respect him alot for highlighting the boys/men struggle with self Confidence just as much as females. Not many guys will voice that, and I love him for it.

One thing that I find amazing about Ren and this song in particular is his ability to achieve balance through contrast. If you listened to this song without lyrics you'd be bopping around with a smile on your face, it's such a catchy tune. Then you place these powerful lyrics on top and it just does something indescribable to you, but it ends up feeling perfectly balanced as a whole. Everyday, with each new song I find, my respect and admiration grow for this guy. luv&cuddles
I think the behind the song sound was dominos falling down on the table. He recorded it and he kept replaying it.

And speaking to the depth and breadth of his catalog, you guys haven’t even gotten to his duets with Chinchilla yet (if you decide to do these, make sure you do the LIVE versions!). And speaking of Chinchilla, do not sleep on this artist - she’s popping off with Little Girl Gone and she’s doing this as an independent artist!! 🔥🔥

Plasticine is a putty-like modelling material. Though originally a brand name for the British version of the product, it is now applied generically in English as a product category to other formulations.
Interesting to hear about the plastisized exhibits but i think what rens saying here is people change their beauty so much with top tips that they look like they are moulded from clay putty (plasticine). (E.g. nose jobs, lip fillers etc etc)
It might be a UK term here but in Uk we all grew up moulding plasticine at school.

First half of the song the dominoes are built, and then he makes them fall in the second half. Beautiful song. Really good lyrics but the way he delivers them is the trick, the build up in the song and then bringing in the meaty part.
I love that music like this generates thought provoking conversation and although Rens messages are specific they are almost always universally relatable

Really like this song… and all youngsters need to hear it. As an ‘oldie’.. I’m way past caring what anyone thinks or says about how I look. Ren is right on here.. giving us a (somewhat) soft or ‘poppy’ message much like RATM throughout the 90s. Please, please listen younguns’ - please! BTW.. the human bodies that were exhibited in the early 2000s was called plastinated.. not plastisized. I believe REN may have been referring to how so many people, mostly girls, are seeking to change how they look via plastic surgery.. which is very, very sad!

Ive never heard this one. I was just vibing to it until the end and it just made me cry 😢. This is something all teens need to hear male or female. God Ren just knows how to get you. Other then that being said the background noise almost sounds like someone lightly drumming on a wooden speaker. Love music 1,2,&3 are amazing

I'm so glad you finally got around to this one. It's getting slept on (probably because it's just a lyric video) and I think that it's one of his best. That soundscape that he created is amazing with headphones and...man, talk about a message.
Dominoes is a great song. I am excited to hear that you are going to listen to the Love Songs. I really like hopping my head in the car to those ones. I don't know if you read these comments, but I am about your age, and back in my 20's I was a DJ and there are times I miss playing the tunes. The love songs are some songs that I think I could play in a dance club. One of the drawbacks to Ren's music is that it is hard to play on a radio station and it's hard to see them as club hits. Especially part 2 and 3 could hold their own in a club setting, I think

I agree. We have segmented this into an issue that is STILL about APPEARANCE, whether it’s either extreme (body shaming vs body positivity). I feel like my job with my daughter was to continually show her that her value isn’t determined by others. That she shouldn’t hand over her self esteem to others. Somehow she is now a 19 year old who won’t change her plans because some boy called or change her personality to please a boy she’s trying to attract, etc. That’s internal.
