Honestly, Neel Seethi deserves more recognition for his acting. He did a great job in the movie, let alone the fact that he had to act without seeing the actual animals (only puppets and other stand-ins) and that he was a newcomer and this was his first movie.
There’s not a single Disney Remake that I like better than the original, but the work they put into them is extremely admirable and should be appreciated.
Well, when you throw so much money around, its bound to hit some skilled people. But technical skill and talent are two different things: the cgi of jungle book looked fine, but the character designs and human-like faces of the animals looked weird because no one gave enough fucks to stay at it until it was absolutely perfect. And Aladdin is just the cheapest-looking 200 mill movie I've ever seen.
The scenery was beautiful. I didn't really care for the lion king remake because the animals seemed to have limited facial expressions. Also, I enjoyed the voice cast of the original than I did the remake.

The live-action version of Cinderella is my favorite of the remakes. The roles were all cast perfectly. Cate Blanchett added dimension to the evil stepmother so she wasn’t a run of the mill villain.
6:26 They aren’t “extras”, they’re highly trained stuntmen, riggers and technicians. “Extras” or “background” are people who are there to provide atmosphere and generally do things that any average person can do and that requires little direction.
I remember when my sister told me they are making a live action Beauty And The Beast a couple years ago. I said to her,” I wonder how they will do Aladdin, because it has a lot of hard stuff that would be difficult to bring to life. Like the flying carpet and stuff!” Yet here we are...
You should check out the TH-cam channel Corridor Crew, they have some 'Visual artists react to bad and great CGI' videos. That's where I learned that the T-rex shot was successful despite the low tech capabilities, because of the wet gloss of the rain and the way most of it was cast in shadow. Much easier to make that look real than something in clear daylight, and much more terrifying! As for the rest, some velociraptor cuts were humans in suits, and the ill triceptacores was an animatronic rigged to blink and breathe.
It's not nostalgia, some of the remakes really are just poorly made. The worst one was probably The Lion King. It's a shot for shot remake but they completely removed the emotion and the expression of the setting and characters because they were going for "realism". Mixing realism with these cartoon characters was a really bad idea to begin with. You don't have to be blinded by nostalgia to know that.
@@t6kr958 well I enjoyed both movies. The original and the remake. It's two different art forms to tell the same story. Which one is better? Well I really dont know becuase essentially I was watching the same movie twice. but I can say I did appreciate both
I feel bad when movies aren’t appreciated bc the amount of work that goes into it, but that’s why sometimes it’s better to not recreate things. At least not shot for shot.
i don't get the craze of remaking same movies either. It's not even a cheap money grab, in fact - an expensive one! Why, Disney, why? It's not like Your old property is forgettable for new generations - promote tad bit more on Disney+ → boom, profit!
“The Lion King” doesn’t count as live action because none of it is actually practical or shot on a set. It’s all CGI, so technically it’s just a hyper realistic animated film.
Honestly tho, those actors really have talent cuz a lot of them are literally talking to no one, or they’re talking to someone that’s in a hilarious af costume like in beauty and the beast, I’d be dying of laughter if I had to talk seriously to someone in a big blue suit
1- 0:47 "Mulan" 2- 1:19 "The Jungle Book" 3- 2:35 "The Lion King" 4- 3:43 "The Lady and the Tramp" 5- 4:30 "Dumbo" 6- 4:59 "Alladin" 7- 5:53 "Maleficent: Mistress of Evil" 8- 7:04 "Beauty and the Beast"
The Hobbit released a lot of behind the scenes videos. I have the extended version that came with about 2/3 discs per movie of just behind the scenes stuff
Say whatever, but these films don't take away from the originals, just show them in a different way and hella impresses with the CG work. That kid that played Mogli though, I'll never for the life of me figure out how he managed to be so absolutely convincing when he was talking to bloody puppets, dudes in blue suits/paint and hands with googly eyes on them!
Belbecat THANK YOU. i myself prefer the originals. but the beauty of the remakes is undeniable. people are really criticising the remakes. Walt Disney wrote in his will that the disney classics are remade every 10 years so every child gets to experience the magic of disney, so people should be more respectful. children now aren’t gonna wanna watch 70’s, 80’s films.
I agree for all the movies except sleeping beauty. Maleficient was better in terms of storyline in comparison with sleeping beauty. I prefer it over the original version.
@@diegosccp4854 ofc not but it is a movie and a remake, we expect something better than original yet they make it worst than the original. Example Narnia, Atlas have expressions even tho he is a lion. And also animals in real life have better expressions than in Lion King.
@Ruggero Fox its in my opinion tho. i prefer lion king original (even tho still its almost like Kimba) rather than the remake. we paid just to watch a bettle bring poop or a rat jumping from plants to plants. Scar's best song isn't epic like the original. Also there is no rafiki "Oh yes the past can be hurt but you either run from it or learn from it." They literally take out all the best parts.
I Agree. The Lion King is one of the worse remakes. Not only did they mess up the Characters expressions but the voice actors were bad casted. Only Timon,Pumba and Mufasa we're good....the rest were bad.

Have yall tried theatre before? Because theatre students do laugh during rehearsal sometimes. When we are rehearsing some awkward scenes you really can't stop laughing in the first tries. But as the adrenaline dies down and when people are getting tired of rehearsing the same scenes again and again, they'll start taking it seriously.
@Harrison TranI'm not really sure but i think actors from both fields are relatively the same. We're fundamentally the same and actors from both fields can switch to the other. We just have different budget, audience and art forms. But as i said I'm not sure i never met someone who acted in a film so there's that.
Yes,look at the actor who plays mowgli, those arms with eyes and a guy wearing blue spandex are freaking hilarious, the actors have serious guts holding their laughs
Harrison Tran Really? Wow thanks for sharing that. I thought they will just laugh and the worst thing could happen was just gettin scold by the director only
Wow, this really helped me appreciate all the hard work and effort they put into these movies. As an artist myself, it's easy for me to critique these movies in so many ways when there's so much more than I don't even see!! I think this shed some appreciation on the other actors and workers that you don't see too.
The artist are just doing their jobs. They're not the ones being criticized. I'm going into animation myself so I appreciate the hard work. These movies just shouldn't exist in the first place.
iiDonutGamezz 35 Right. What Production company wouldn’t give to have Disney’s budget and they waste it on a dress you could probably find at a dress shop where people go to find prom dresses and such.
I think it embodies Belle's love for the simple things and her humble nature. She doesn't want everything and most likely insisted off-screen that an elaborate dress was too much for her.
her dress just looks and feels so... flat? in the animated film, her dress always looked so light despite the ribbons and extra fabric, so i’m sure they could’ve come up with a more similar design that still felt light without being boring and flat.
Eric Wong people are actually planning to do this in the Czech Republic, they’re filming a rn show with couples filming themselves I can’t remember the plot but

I know that a lot of people hate the fact that disney keeps remaking old content and I agree that it's unoriginal. But I admire and still enjoy watching these movies because of all the effort that was put into them.
What I hate is that even if someone had done the movie before Disney did it. That quite a few assume that the first movie version was done by Disney. But they are wrong. Several of those ones were done before Disney did it's animated version. Like the 1951 version of Aladdin. As well as earlier ones yet. As well as I have used this one. Beauty and the Beast. One of the earlier ones was done IN France in 1946 One version of Snow White was made during when movies were the silent black and white in 1916.
mo mo I know it’s your opinion, but I think the animators did an amazing job making the lion king look so real, and imagine the expenses they had creating it. Also, if it weren’t too realistic, then people would still “hate” it for doing such a horrible job with the cgi.
mo mo ah I get your point... although if they were to design the characters just as how they did it in the original but realistic... idk it doesn’t look good in my imagination lol or maybe it’s just me... but yeah, I totally get your point.

As much as some people dislike some disney live-action remakes, we do gotta appreciate the hardwork they put into these stuff to even make the animals have accurate movement to making the actual place from the animated one.
I can’t wait to see the behind the scenes featurettes for the live-action ‘The Little Mermaid’ and ‘The Hunchback of Notre Dame’. Even if the movies end up sucking, I still want to see what they did behind the scenes. They’re usually the most fun part of the films.

@@kirtu9035 Because all of their hard work costs nothing. I feel sorry for the people who are working on the live-action remakes. Despite all the backlash, I must say that they did their best.
This is the first time I'm seeing footage for the Mulan movie, and how do all these swordfighting sequences even fit into the movie?! She's only supposed to be training against her fellow soldiers, setting the cannon off in the battle, use hand-to-hand against the Hun guards, and pin Shan Yu to the roof with a sword. Any more scenes with swordfighting and it defies the point of her journey and her struggles. She's not meant to be an equally strong fighter to the men, she's meant to be a clever fighter seeking alternative solutions.
the live action Mulan is a retelling of the historical Chinese legend, not of the 1998 animated film. Katzenberg still earns profits from his rights to the original characters in Mulan (pls feel free to look up the lawsuit regarding his underpayment and how the current payment situation was figured out, it’s v interesting) so Disney’s remake had to be based on non-trademarked characters to avoid giving Katzenberg an additional cut of the new film’s profits. It’s also why Mushu isn’t in the live action Mulan.
@@kablenis That sucks immensely. Why would they even bother remaking it if it will have no resemblance to the Disney movie people feel nostalgia for? The original poem skips over the war, as far as I know, and just says what she achieved. And her comrades know she is a female, although they never saw her in full women's garb and makeup until the end. It's not meant to be a feature-length movie. So I'm guessing they're sucking the rest of the filler out their thumbs, with nothing to inspire them besides cold hard cash.
Lzy G bc money, as u said (obviously this is true for all of the “live action” remakes) and bc China is a much larger movie market than the US + historical and pastoral media that glorifies old China does rly well rn
My thoughts precisely. And they freakin didn't. I mean... idk, I wouldnt mind if they found a middle way and made their mouths more human or even cartonish. Who knows maybe that wouldve looked creepy. But what I do mind is the extent of realism in the movie, beyond just visuals. Like the monkey not being able to stand on 2 feet. Well by that logic... they cant talk either. And god, did I miss the hamlet-esque vision of Mufasa appearing as a cloud
They shouldve gone with realistic + cartoony,so the faces have more expresions that static realistic face, for example sonic, they really did a great job designing the new sonic, looks realistic but very expressive.i dont know what were disney thingking on making the lion king live action, realistic animals look bad if they are singing

Disney's remakes doesn't give off the same feeling as the old ones does. Disney was famous for their 2D movies.
iconic I love the live action remakes
What ur feeling is nostalgia. The new movies are fine, you just will never be able to experience a story again the same away after so many years
It's not nostalgia, some of the remakes really are just poorly made.
The worst one was probably The Lion King. It's a shot for shot remake but they completely removed the emotion and the expression of the setting and characters because they were going for "realism".
Mixing realism with these cartoon characters was a really bad idea to begin with. You don't have to be blinded by nostalgia to know that.
@@Mandelasmind it really isn't. They're just unoriginal and uninspired.
@@t6kr958 well I enjoyed both movies. The original and the remake. It's two different art forms to tell the same story. Which one is better? Well I really dont know becuase essentially I was watching the same movie twice. but I can say I did appreciate both

i don't get the craze of remaking same movies either. It's not even a cheap money grab, in fact - an expensive one! Why, Disney, why? It's not like Your old property is forgettable for new generations - promote tad bit more on Disney+ → boom, profit!

Harrison Tran Really? Wow thanks for sharing that. I thought they will just laugh and the worst thing could happen was just gettin scold by the director only

Yes.. I am very dissapointed with the Belle dress too :"

This is yet. Another random thing that I come to during quarantine
Because it’s Disney lol
the live action Mulan is a retelling of the historical Chinese legend, not of the 1998 animated film.

I liked Lion King, I thought there were enough facial expressions ; the light in the eyes, the eyebrows, the lips... More subtle than a cartoon or a human, definitely. But they did not appear as emotionless to me :)
