Great to see you on a Buell! I'm a 2017 EBR 1190RX owner. The Traction Control does not allow full engine power until 3. From 3 and up wheelie control is going to dampen everything. If you're able to ride this again, on a dry, clear day try 3. I ride with TC completely off unless it's raining. The 1190 is my favorite bike I've ever owned, glad to see people like you reviewing them.
@@sullythenoob2523 The S1K is a monster and a masterclass in electronics integration and the cross plane R1's are amazing bikes too, so I'm not going to sit here and try to say the Hammerhead / 1190RX "owns the S1K or the R1". For me, the 1190RX is my favorite as a complete package, the low to mid RPM power and the acceleration up to about 130 feels better than the R1s or S1Ks I've ridden. The 1190's claim to fame in my opinion is the handling, especially on regular surface streets. It dips into corners and holds lines better than any other 1k I've ridden. The front brake assembly lightens up the un-sprung weight of the front wheel so much that scary road imperfection caused wheel chatter mid corner is a thing of the past. The fact that Buell does not go all out with techie engine and chassis controls is simply amazing! When you think about who designed these machines and what his history is you can quickly understand why these bikes do not get all jazzes up with all the latest and greatest tech. Eric Buell was a racer and while all this new tech aids the rider in keeping the rubber on the road and the shiny parts upright it takes away a significant amount of the organic connection between the rider, machine, and road. i will say that i ride a xb12r. I have rode the 1125r. I have ridden the Japanese and euro bikes. I am buying this motorcycle for a lot of what you said. I love the uniqueness off it. i love the direct non computer feel. The power delivery makes it much easier to ride on the street than a zx10. The statement of the "only" bike is probably spot on. That is why Buell is making the super cruiser and the super tour. I am curious to see when you take it to the track if you have the same breaking problems that yammie noob had. I have tracked my xb12r and never felt what they were talking about. thank you Buell for sharing this video on your platforms so i can find another awesome motorcycle youtuber. Subscribed
Yeah... 05 XB12R and a 14 EBR1190RX owner here. NEVER rode any other bike that stopped like these! Super grip and never fade. I saw the yammie noob vid and first thought was somethings wrong.
As soon as he said that I stopped the video and began looking for this same comment. I’m surprised I didn’t hear the same thing about ABS. New age thinking is bizarre; people love their nannies and buttons to hold their hand. What is a drive mode other than a remapped throttle curve or maybe a different traction control aggressiveness.
@@Zairn12345 People never asked for it. It was an invention by manufacturers to meet emissions and noise compliance. It gives manufacturers more control over how the engine spits exhaust out, allows them to advertise "$28,000 and 240 HORSEPOWER!!" on the brochure and the rider only actually gets max 2006 superbike horsepower in 2024, because emissions compliance. Then the duped customer either spends another $4500 to uncork it all, or brags ignorantly to their buddies what a rocket he bought with all this horsepower, but only gets to use 75% of that, and only at 11,000 rpm to 12,200 rpm where the nanny kicks in and turns it all down gently. It also gives manufacturers a way to sell superbikes for TWICE or THREE TIMES the price that they were 20 years ago and people think nothing of it. Why? Development costs for all those crazy silicon chip controlled things all over the entire machine.
@@exothermal.sprocket First part of your comment is very true. However the second part is bollocks man. All the rider aids can be disabled in an instant or simply unplugged like in the new CBR1000. Motorcycles have not gone up in prices at all given the inflation and they now make more power than ever. I’d rather have brands do workarounds to meet emissions and we have the motorcycles on the market then don’t. Fully optimising and mapping a motorcycle to it’s full unrestricted power costs 600$ anyways. I’m all for freedom and raw experience, that’s why I ride a carbed motorcycle, but to say modern bikes are nanny driven is an exaggeration.
To answer your question- manufacturer country origin isn't a huge factor for me when considering motorcycles; that variable may very well be tied for my last consideration. My top 5 considerations are 1- Value, 2- Performance, 3- OEM & Aftermarket Support, 4- Price (to include maintenance costs), 5- Pedigree. I'd have to place origin at 6th or 7th depending on the competition/ comparable bikes in the class I'm looking at. What's neat about this Buell (and almost all of that brand's lineup), is that it appeals to the "riders bike" bare-bones, performance oriented, V Twin supersport niche. They always seem to make wildly unique production motorcycles that fit a very small segment of riders. Do I think Buell hit the nail on the head with this one? Absolutely- for their target market. I was waiting for this video to drop, and genuinely appreciate your objective approach in this episode. Patiently awaiting the track content to follow.
I didn't even know Buell existed until I went to the Wheels Through Time museum last weekend. Definitely not a big harley or indian guy but Buell is really interesting
OC. It makes me happy to see Buell is still going strong. I doubt I'll ever be at the level to enjoy a machine like this. Thank you for yet another great first ride. I hope, when it comes out, you do a review of the CFMoto 450 CL-C cruiser.
This is a great first ride video man. I love that they kept it simple like the pre 2010 bikes. I still ride an RC51. So I know what you’re describing about the feel of a v-twin supersport. Even though it’s not the lightest bike, being a twin they tend to fall in corners easier than 1k inline fours. I personally don’t like that all the new 1k’s have all these modes. Technology is cool and all but We have so many new riders buying 1k’s because they have modes. They have a false sense of security.
I have loved fuel ever since they came out with the XB model with the transparent tank / air box cover. I'd say 20 years ago I fell in love. My first Buell was a blast and my current Buell is a 1125 CR. Never owned or even ridden in xb12 yet but I need one still and I'm all over the new Buell and looking forward to when I can't afford one but my 1125 CR is very close in specs and almost identical engine. I hope Buell makes it. 🇺🇸♥️🇺🇸
I actually appreciated the different day recording, I think that white looks fantastic in every lighting. That exhaust sound is so nasty. The other paint jobs look really good too.
Appreciate your note around 24:00 about it being slightly older Ducati-esque. The technically worse somehow makes it better kind of charm. Also quick shifters generally work better the more cylinders and the shorter the piston stroke you have to deal with. Quick shifters will skip an ignition cycle on a cylinder to very briefly take the load off the transmission allowing the next gear to slide in place. If you only have two cylinders, with longer strokes, that means relatively large spans of time between each opportunity to skip an ignition. That’s also a large part of why they work so much more smoothly at higher revs.
I've owned two buells now and bought them because they are just cool torquey AF beasts. The fact that they are American is just a cool side note. Always got Harley riders attention's though because I had the old sporter engine models.
People forget that Buells were very well-engineered bikes. Lots of very abnormal packaging of various components that all serves to lower the center of gravity and improve handling. These new 1190s are still mostly the same as the EBRs from a few years ago. So, plenty of Erik Buell's engineering is still in these even though he's not associated with the brand anymore.
I was gonna say it’s got just the right amount of old school. I think the squareness of the fairings and the louvres on the tank/fairings do it for me.
Buell is still on my bucket list. The original xbs were cool as hell. Just weak motor. Now they got the power and tech to compete with the Japanese and italians
I saw Buell and had to wat- TWO RUNS?! Chase, I've been bamboozled. My favorite part of watching these videos was trying to piece together the shots onboard vs chase cam. Well, I can watch peacefully now
The country of origin of the bike definitely matters to me… behind features and performance… and parts availability (both OEM and aftermarket). So, yes it matters, but not above all else.
I was OBSESSED with this bike when EBR released it in 2014, and test rode it the following year. I shot a review of it on my GoPro. I would have bought it if my wife let me. Got the Livewire One instead but man that bike PULLS HARD!
yay another sports bike and not another boring af adventure bike. This thing is gorgeous, really love the shark styling cues. also reminds me a lot of a Panigale, but dare I say it, actually even better looking!?! wow!
OC Way back when, I fell in love with the XB9R and wanted one so bad, but never managed to get one. So glad to see Buell still alive and kicking. I adore the sound that this engine makes, and I feel like it owuld be worth it just to confuse the harley guys around me, lol. Also, it make such an interesting noise under deceleration. It almost sounds like the noise that straight cut gears make in a transmission, but more tame and muted.
Be nice to see the company shed that name (give it back to the man who no longer has any association with the company for crying out loud), shed the stupid front brake that's NEVER been innovative or good, and give the machine some electrical attention. Chase: revs the bike to 2/3 RPM, short shifts. Proceeds to blather on and on how it's not pulling as hard as he thought and how people shouldn't expect it to. Comon man, rev that sucker out. It's a twin tuned for high rpm power. It's like a big twin Ducati.... they don't hit you like the 1390 Super Duke, they have to rev and then you find out how it shoves.
Rider modes are not necessary with the Buell. Power is linier, grip is excellent. Turn the traction control off or set it to 2 maybe 3 in the dry. Great handling bike, even better once it is set up correctly. Optional quickshifter is available. Easy to ride bike.
I’m not surprised about the bike not having rider modes. There for a minute Erik was making race specific bikes only, Not designed for the street. I don’t think he changed them much
Couldn’t help but think about something else when he was talking about twins being his favorite, and riding twins around. 😂 But I do agree. Love my MT-07
I am soooo glad Buell is back but heard Erik is not a part of it. Do you think they would make parts for the 08 1125r Rotax Engine? Dream bike right here
it's been so long since i watched you, and out of nowhere, i refresh my youtube, and then i see "chaseontwowheels" in my recommended. i have been subscribed for years.
Built..out of Grand Rapids..myself coming from Metro Detroit ( Bloomfield Hills) I'm a Harley guy..however, probably will trade one them in, for this great ride.
I had an 03 xb9r firebolt in high school. Loved that thing…white like this one too. I’ve upgraded now and have a ‘14 Fireblade. That 40-80 seemed very slow compared to what my fireblade can do. Nostalgia in me wants this bike tho lol
I feel like oddly that's what they need to take advantage of marketing wise. It's a hand made, exotic material, extremely fast superbike. Target the luxury market, the collectors, it's an eyepiece just as much as Ducati is.
I can't imagine ever buying a street bike that didn't have traction control. Even smaller bikes are quite dangerous without traction control if you run over something slick. The Buell actually comes with TC.
God, I remember when Buell was a part of Harley-Davidson. When I was a kid, I always wanted to get one when I got old enough, and unfortunately, I never got the chance to.
bro active cooling on the brakes and errything, that thing is made to be driven to the track and be a ripper that's why no abs and the maneuverability and controllability idk i'm no expert, but adjustable on the fly traction control being the only feature just screams track bike to me
I almost bought a 2005 Buell Firebolt XB9R probably 12 years ago. Ended up not even going to look at it, real life happened, but I was intrigued by the name. Then I just, stopped seeing them altogether. So I also instant clicked when I saw the name.
Have owned alot of bikes GSXR 1000 & 750 , ZX6 & ZX1400 , CBR 954, SV1000 , Buell Blast, S3, XB12 and currently 2002 X1 White Lighting The GSXR 750 so well balanced ZX1400 unreal warp speed and comfy The X1 is just so fun to ride and with good tires handles great, forcewinder exhaust , (extreme loud) , race ecu , forcewinder intake , pirelli diablo rosso 3 tires. 11.5 1/4 mile , just an awesome bike but reliability is an issue. This new bike looks great would love to ride it !
Damn thats a good looking bike. Jdk about this current Hammerhead, but the previous generation handled like nothing I have ever ridden. It could change direction insanely fast
Thank you for doing your review I wish they would. Have had you ride it before? They put it up for sale that way, they could have refined some of the stuff love. If they were willing to take some criticism. I guess it age 50 me.I'd just like to see an American sport I like to see American companies do well. Hopefully, they can stay in business and make it improvements.
Man you know you ride too many fancy new bikes when you’re excited about a cable actuated throttle. 😂 I’ve never owned a bike with throttle by wire. My newest bike is a 2019 MT-07. Though I will always prefer throttle cable over by wire. I want my riding experience to be as analog as possible. The less directly connected to the bike’s controls I am, the more unsafe I feel. Even ABS bothers me sometimes. I come from dirt riding, so I can manage skids pretty good, and I’ve gotten pretty good over the years at modulating the front and back brakes. Sometimes ABS really extends my braking distance on dry pavement and it’s irritating.

i will say that i ride a xb12r.
I love how it doesn't have rider modes ,either you can ride or you cant.
right!? I'm a grown ass man, let me have my fun even if it's dangerous
@@exothermal.sprocketthis is a pretty long winded way to say you’ve never ridden a modern superbike…
I thought this was a Ducati from the thumbnail. The hammerhead is beautiful 😍. I have never heard of this brand until now, great vid!
How have people never heard of Buell??? That’s wild to me.
Yep, they've definitely taken cues from the Italians when it comes to styling. Looks gorgeous and sounds brutal.
I didn't even know Buell existed until I went to the Wheels Through Time museum last weekend. Definitely not a big harley or indian guy but Buell is really interesting
I’ve never been a big Harley or Indian fan, but it’s impossible not to know the Buell brand, as a sportbike enthusiast.
I own a 06 xb12r and just put my order in for the 24 hammerhead 1190 im so exited
Here's hoping the third time is the charm. Rooting for this guy.
Idk what it is about the design and specifically the profile of this bike but I love it and I feel a sort of nostalgia towards it.
I was gonna say it’s got just the right amount of old school. I think the squareness of the fairings and the louvres on the tank/fairings do it for me.
always loved the buells. still looking for an older good condition firebolt. but this new one is pure class.
The way you describe the throttle is like the mt07 for me I love it
Didn't know Buell is back making bikes again and man what a bike this is.
Buell is still on my bucket list. The original xbs were cool as hell. Just weak motor. Now they got the power and tech to compete with the Japanese and italians
That sounds so good. I can only imagine what it sounds like in person!
Best bike reviewer on the interwebs. Love the happy attitude.
I saw Buell and had to wat- TWO RUNS?! Chase, I've been bamboozled. My favorite part of watching these videos was trying to piece together the shots onboard vs chase cam. Well, I can watch peacefully now
haha glad to set your mind at ease
That thing looks fucking majestic. Man, I could only dream of owning one.
The country of origin of the bike definitely matters to me… behind features and performance… and parts availability (both OEM and aftermarket). So, yes it matters, but not above all else.
Was a fan of buell, xb and lightning, started on a blast, glad they are back
I was OBSESSED with this bike when EBR released it in 2014, and test rode it the following year. I shot a review of it on my GoPro. I would have bought it if my wife let me. Got the Livewire One instead but man that bike PULLS HARD!
I had no idea Buell was still in production. I thought for sure they were long gone
yay another sports bike and not another boring af adventure bike. This thing is gorgeous, really love the shark styling cues. also reminds me a lot of a Panigale, but dare I say it, actually even better looking!?! wow!
Didnt know Buell still made bikes, bike looks TUFF.
I'we always liked Buell motorcycles.. even more so now. Cool AF!
I am still partial to the old XB lightning models - those ones were awesome looking!
Name definitely fits the design, cool to see buell still has it
Is he even involved anymore? I thought he sold the brand.
Gawd Dayum!! gotta put away 1/2 my spare time today to watch this. But Imma be watching this one for sure.
Eric is a genious and one of the most motivated people in the business
My first bike was a Buell Blast. I miss those days... simple as simple could get.
Rider modes are not necessary with the Buell. Power is linier, grip is excellent. Turn the traction control off or set it to 2 maybe 3 in the dry. Great handling bike, even better once it is set up correctly. Optional quickshifter is available. Easy to ride bike.
Can help but love that Buell is trying to be relevant in the Super Bike category.
>no rider modes
>cable throttle
>no abs or other nanny aid bs
>giant v2
Finally a company that gets it. 💪🏻
I'm actually nervous about getting another bike if/when my 01 CBR dies😂 It's just you and the bike, no safety nothing.
@@mrnumberone615 >no safety nothing.
That’s the point brother 🙂 there are those who say we return to monke, I say, we return to bike.
That's what happens when you rehash a bike from 2012
I miss my 2006 Buell Ulysses after watching this. Buell definately knows how to build a Twin!
I’m not surprised about the bike not having rider modes. There for a minute Erik was making race specific bikes only, Not designed for the street. I don’t think he changed them much
Finally, someone made a good-looking new bike. Although I still miss the dual big headlight era, which only leaves kawi these days.
Couldn’t help but think about something else when he was talking about twins being his favorite, and riding twins around. 😂
But I do agree. Love my MT-07
It may just be me, but I was dying when he said you have so much fun riding twins 😂
He said it just after reading this aha
I am soooo glad Buell is back but heard Erik is not a part of it.
Do you think they would make parts for the 08 1125r Rotax Engine?
Dream bike right here
We need more American sport and super sports...
it's been so long since i watched you, and out of nowhere, i refresh my youtube, and then i see "chaseontwowheels" in my recommended. i have been subscribed for years.
This is exactly why we have an email list that people can sign up for and actually get notifications from us.
@@chaseontwowheels Next : Norton V4SV
Built..out of Grand Rapids..myself coming from Metro Detroit ( Bloomfield Hills) I'm a Harley guy..however, probably will trade one them in, for this great ride.
I had an 03 xb9r firebolt in high school. Loved that thing…white like this one too. I’ve upgraded now and have a ‘14 Fireblade. That 40-80 seemed very slow compared to what my fireblade can do. Nostalgia in me wants this bike tho lol
Buell engineers are wizards! Just as exotic as a MV Augusta, but with American DNA. Gotta love it
I feel like oddly that's what they need to take advantage of marketing wise. It's a hand made, exotic material, extremely fast superbike. Target the luxury market, the collectors, it's an eyepiece just as much as Ducati is.
I hope you’re gonna get to ride a super cruiser soon, been drooling over them since they announced
I haven’t heard the name Buell in a long time. This thing looks pretty sick
Please buell let’s see a mid size also!!! God bless America!!!
bro active cooling on the brakes and errything, that thing is made to be driven to the track and be a ripper
that's why no abs and the maneuverability and controllability idk i'm no expert, but adjustable on the fly traction control being the only feature just screams track bike to me
I almost bought a 2005 Buell Firebolt XB9R probably 12 years ago. Ended up not even going to look at it, real life happened, but I was intrigued by the name. Then I just, stopped seeing them altogether. So I also instant clicked when I saw the name.
Didn’t recommend buying it but HIGHLY recommended buying it!
This thing is crazy beautiful
Have owned alot of bikes GSXR 1000 & 750 , ZX6 & ZX1400 , CBR 954, SV1000 , Buell Blast, S3, XB12 and currently 2002 X1 White Lighting
The GSXR 750 so well balanced
ZX1400 unreal warp speed and comfy
The X1 is just so fun to ride and with good tires handles great, forcewinder exhaust , (extreme loud) , race ecu , forcewinder intake , pirelli diablo rosso 3 tires. 11.5 1/4 mile , just an awesome bike but reliability is an issue.
This new bike looks great would love to ride it !
Damn thats a good looking bike. Jdk about this current Hammerhead, but the previous generation handled like nothing I have ever ridden. It could change direction insanely fast
That bike is gorgeous
Wow! This is my first time hearing about Buell.
Bring back the XB! @Buell
This bike looks menacing and at the same time graceful.
Good stuff! Nice to see an American Supersport
Bike sounds amazing
Wow. Looks like a new category, street sport bike? Twins are the life; I'd love the ABS though... just in case it is not dry or someone cuts you off
Man you know you ride too many fancy new bikes when you’re excited about a cable actuated throttle.
