80 hp is enough in the city and motorway for such a small car but you can't be a speed demon. I think 1.4 engine is better
In the UK this car has a stereotype of driven by antisocial young men in tracksuits outside of McDonald's, who buy bodykits, big wheels and a loud exhaust and never look after their cars. I am looking to buy my first car but for this reason I am going to avoid it. I prefer the Suzuki Swift especially from 2012 to present. I wonder what car in Russia/eastern Europe has the same stereotype?

В восточной Европе машиной для хулиганов (мы называем их гопники) можно назвать старый фольксваген гольф. В России машиной такой машиной является лада приора и лада 2114, ты эти машины в своей стране вряд-ли встречал, но скажу так, машины эти то ещё говно.

In Eastern Europe, especially in the Balkans the Mk3 to Mk5 VW Golfs and the BMW 3-series E36 and E46 with cheap ass modifications with removed mufflers are mostly driven by wannabe car racers in their 20s and 30s. The BMW 5-series E39 and E60, Audi A6 C6 and Mercedes C-Class W204 and E-Class W211 are being mostly driven by wannabe tough guys. Nevertheless old Golfs (Mk2 and Mk3) in general are driven by all sorts of people. Because they are very affordable and the maintenance is very cheap. Even I am a proud owner of a 1990 Mk2 VW Golf.
