This looks amazing and way better than what we actually got for WrestleMania 27 Although in my opinion the only match on this show you should keep and not change is Undertaker vs Triple H
This was the last time we had a huge WM party with friends. We invited like 10 people over, had like 3 pizzas, wings, nachos, and a bunch of Taco Bell soft shell tacos. Everyone got so fucking miserable during the Cole/Lawler match that we went from 12 people to 3. And we still had most of the food by the time that match was over. We pigged out, but even after eating some of it the next day, we threw probably half of it out. That fucking match was a huge waste of time, killed our WM parties going forward, and cost us like $40-50 in wasted food. Fuck that fucking match.
Orton vs Punk was an underrated match imo that no one really mentions or talks about much. And not just because of the amazing RKO at the end but I think the whole match was quite good. (Just listened to Santi talk about the match and he’s absolutely right, it was low-key a banger)
Honestly, WM 27 is a huge part of why I was *very* cold at the idea of the Rock being involved in WM 40. And also why I very much did not warm up to it. While the end result *is* great at WM 40, I'm still here thinking "man I wish they didn't make Roman the Rock's lil bro".
It was the worst Mania in my opinion. It didn't have the injury excuse of 32. 9 and 11 were in downturns for the business when expectations weren't high. 27 has no excuses. Plus at least 32 was during a time where you had NXT as an alternative and the WWE Network was there if you wanted to tune out and watch a good Mania. 27 had no such excuses.
Saying no one expected anything from 9 or 11 doesn't mean they can't be the worst, just that they can't be the most disappointing. I think it's fair to say 27 is the most disappointing but 11 is my pick for the worst. Is there a single thing on that show that's good? 27 at least had Taker/HHH and a few other solid matches.
You do make a fair argument about 32 but even without the injuries, WWE still could’ve had the chance to turn something from chicken shit to chicken salad. A few things stay the same but here’s how I would book the rest of the show to make it better… - Sasha Banks winning the Triple Threat match for the Women’s title (unquestionably the greatest match on the show) - The New Day vs The Usos vs The Dudleys in a TLC Match for the tag team titles - AJ Styles beating Jericho - Undertaker vs Sting in a cinematic match - Roman Reigns vs Brock Lesnar (I’d have the same match they had last year from 31 to happen here) - Dean Ambrose vs Triple H for the WWE title (the same match they had from Roadblock only for Ambrose to finally become champion sending the crowd home happy rather than leaving a foul taste in their mouths) Simple. Problem solved.
In my personal opinion the thing i enjoyed the most of this wrestlemania was its theme song "written in the stars". Its probably my favorite theme song but that's just my taste.
