Finally a magnificent, romantic, melodic delightful piano concerto. There is hope for the world after all.

Why is beautiful music so close to sadness? Perhaps because it awakens us to the possibility of a better world? It stirs our deepest longings.

I know nothing about music or anything. But, when I started losing sleep because of my depression and anxiety, I turned to classical music to help calm my mind.
Today, I thought the whole day about finally ending my life. Then, i found this. I’ve always loved listening to Lang Lang, he always plays everything with so much emotion. Hearing him play this piece, it made me tear up so much. It gave me very wonderful feelings and i ended up thinking about all the things i was happy for before falling into this dark pit. I feel like it was fate that made me find your piece at the worst moment of my life. Thank you. I don’t know how else to express this feeling in me except to say thank you, thank you, thank you.
I will definitely come back to listen to this again.
    Music is truly wonderful!

Bit different from Prokofiev 3 & Bartok 2 which I've just heard Lang2 play (again). Refreshing. Somehow reminds me of Cambridge & wet nights spent indoors listening to all sorts of music. Perhaps you too? Lucky students will now get to hear your music as well.

Thank YOU Nigel Hess.... for this absolutely sublime music that can only have been composed from love and passion you felt deep in your heart; it spoke through your soul, translated to the keyboards. And every beautiful note fills me with so much emotion. Well done also Lang Lang for playing with such passion.

A modern composer who is not afraid of a romantic melody, giving such richness and, as some have pointed out, reflections of Rachmaninov, the most emotional of composers.

Hi Nigel. I stumbled upon this by accident, starting with the Ryan Anthony Song for Hope, then via Phil McCann playing your Hetty Wainthropp theme and then this - you know how TH-cam works - and it’s a gem. Incidentally, on my first day at college in Birmingham, in 1973, I met a double bass player called Steve Kelk who, as I was a trumpet player, asked me if I had heard of you. I always remember that whenever I hear a piece of yours. All the best. Ian C
