This is such a fantastic video of the awesome Big Boy 4014!! That slow pass by was so majestic it brought goosebumps! The Mighty One sounded like he was breathing with the effort, but reveling in ever foot traveled. Thank you VRF for bringing us this wonderful gift!!
Now this is more like it! They ditched the hoppers for the full excursion consist a few days ago like they had in 2019. This may be the best capture VRF has gotten so far of the 2021 tour.
Saw it run through Denton county up close. There were people lined up for miles on Hwy 377 2 hours before it was to arrive. Looked like people waiting for a presidential motorcade. Everyone stopped what they were doing to give her respect. It was surreal.
Sorry TW but they won't even bring it to the east coast of the USA, A because of the turns being too sharp , and B because CSX Corp. Has a permanent steam ban on their whole system.
I sure wish I get to see 4014 this year but there's always next time, I'm just glad I saw it on its southwest tour in 2019. Not to mention getting my 4014 hat signed by Ed Dickens himself.
Thank you, thank you, thank you. UP got rid of those nasty hopper cars and put on something much more fitting for a Big Boy excursion. If there's a need for Big Boy to give an underpowered freight a little or big push, that would be fine. Looking forward to seeing Big Boy in St Louis in about 12 days. We'll be driving from Florida to see it. Thanks Bob
Dynamic braking, extra power, extra speed, and backup in case locomotive failure. Some power the excursions' power supply if the generator car fails or the train doesn't have a generator car. Most of the time it's just there for the ride because by railroad law of all trains having dynamic brakes.
Looks like the rains from yesterday washed off the Big Boy chalk writing on the Smokebox Door. During today's run... did the UP Steam Crew, via of course Ed Dickens, by any chance put it back on the locomotive? :)
That Bill board at the end was perfectly located to complete the video. Lol
I mean really!!! Who doesn't love the big boy?? I am so grateful the Union Pacific sponsors this great locomotive!!! Thank you!!!!
There is something about a steam whistle that air could never replace.
Thank You Virtual Railfan for giving all of us this heartfelt video. The symbolism and memories here are off the charts!👏🚂
Big Boy is an awesome engine. Thank you Uncle Pete for bringing it back to life.

Seeing it full screen on my TV was incredible. Even for a big boy!
Big Boy, Ed Dickens and his crews absolutely rock!!💯🚂
What is so fantastic with it’s oil conversion 4014 can now go places it has never been.
Yep and they did the same to 3985 in 90
Like a living, breathing dragon huffing and puffing smoke and steam. Fantastic. BTW a good dragon, of course🐲🐉😉

What a beautiful thing to watch !!!!!!
Showcasing Big Boy to the world especially to us here in Scotland what a machine. We had "Tornado" a Peppercorn A1 Pacific through our town today.
Wow! I would love to see that in person.

I got to see the Big Boy in Midlothian, TX this morning. Their was a huge crowd their to greet 4014.
Whose?
I liked seeing the contrast between the Big Boy and the bicycles at 5:17. It seems mankind just has to have wheels.
Cool effect with the sign.
Wow! 4014 really put on a Show across the Diamond!
She is such a beautiful Engine😍
Just got done seeing it in Hearne, very nice experience, will never forget it!
Ive seen that loco before in pascagoula, miss. !
I wish BIG BOY would come up to Canada. Many great locations along CN line East of Toronto.

Thank you V.R. Love to see 4014 out again!!! I feel for the engineers out in 100 plus temps and sitting behind a boiler... I'd just melt:)

UP 4014 "Big Boy" has brought back UP Passenger Cab Cars
I witnessed the entire thing on the Stream
o wow, just wow!!!
Awesome.
Big boy is my favorite steam train ever my mom love this engine so much
Locomotive, you mean
Yes I do mean it
I plan to chase her up Il Rt3 from Cape Girardeau MO to St Louis MO in a couple Saturdays
Every great steam locomotive should have a Hancock longbell like the 4014 and the 611.
Like 1197 beautiful video, greetings 🚂👍🙋♂️
Man she’s Beautiful 🤩
Looks like they just washed it. 👍👍
5:10, the people in the tower windows!
What purpose does the diesel locomotive serve??

The diesel runs the positive train control computer system in big boy
i saw the big boy saturday
Going to Ney yard after the tower south
I'm just curious but just how many modern diesels would it actually take to stop that monster in its tracks?!?!?
Is UP going to run 4014 every year? I would love to see it in person
I would like to see another 4014/844 doubleheader.
@@REDACTED4503 that would be sweet
Virtual Railfan should put a camera in Cheyenne, WY. and Green River, WY.
are there going to be any steam trains in indiana
Farthest its going is just outside of new orleans
@@alexander1485 well it says to me that steam trains hate indiana
Do you not have many working steam locomotives in the states?

will it be at other camera locations?
Texarkana Arkansas
@@KUNYSZZ Ty. Do you know when?
Check the UP steam schedule
@@KUNYSZZ Thank you
BTW, the office car on the rear, the "Kenefick", was the tail car for the George H.W. Bush funeral train back in December 2018.
The rail line runs right next to my side yard so i video taped it in Waxahachie!
DUDE FORT WORTH IS CLOSE TO ME
Were the Union Pacific Railroad people
We can handle it.
Is that front cylinder packing leaking again?
