      Most of this illegal fentanyl is being made in China and smuggled over the Southern border by the Mexican Sinaloa cartel.
      The politicians do not want to deal with this issue because it means A. securing the border and B. punishing China, which is a complicated proposition after the politicians themselves paved the way for the corporate sector to send all our living wage manufacturing jobs there.

    I worked at the state capital on legislative issues (not CA) and what is described here is called the 'desk veto' - meaning the bill goes to some commitee where it is slated to die from inaction. The the overall leader wants something to pass or fail, they will shuffle it to the committee that will do that for them. Leaders chose the committee leads, so they are absolutely beholden to them.
    Everyone thinks the governor or president is the most influential members of a given government. The real power is in the Senate and House chambers where a single person in each controls everything that happens in the state or nation - often for decades.
    Fix it by putting term limits on leadership roles, terms limits on lawmakers, and laws that require single-issue legislation that automatically gets a full floor vote if it "dies in committee". That last one would prevent these bills from being ignored, because if the committee does not advance it then the entire chamber will have to do something about it (ignore is an option).

      Prescription pills can be illegally sold to those who don't have a prescription and abused. Examples are Oxycodone/Oxycotin and Adderall. My guess is that's what got laced. While there's a small possibility someone's actual medication was tampered with to poison them, I haven't heard this happening as often.

      It said judges would be required to notify a defendant who sold drugs that, if they do it again and someone dies, there will be stiff consequences. Its a very poor suggestion and will make no difference. I work with criminals they dont care about threats, they barely care about consequences. They need to propose something that would be effective, like signifiacnt prison time in a facility that doesnt coddle them. Inmates get better services than many, such as veterans, homeless, working poor.

But I smoked cigs, and drank beer none the less, Today with the internet and kids always have too much access to everything now I can see why kids die today.

  • @cherylalt101
    @cherylalt101 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

    I'm a little confused. The moms said their children died of prescription pills laced with fentanyl? How are they lacing already formed legal medications or are kids buying like Vicodin not knowing it's got fentanyl added? It doesn't make sense to me cause if dealers are adding something to make a pill stronger, I'd think they'd tell buyers so they could charge more for the pills, right? So do the kids know what they are taking just not exactly how strong it is cause the fentanyl is illegal?

    • @Starfish2145
      @Starfish2145 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      That is probably an inaccurate description. You’ll never get a fentanyl pill from a pharmacy. However, drug dealers will often take a legitimate prescription that they buy from someone, crush it down and add fentanyl as a filler, and then resell it.

    Can someone define a 'fentanyl laced prescription pill'? What does that mean? A prescription pill is something you get from a doctor. Where does the fentanyl come into play? Is the fentanyl added afterwards or is it contained within the pill at manufacture? If it's spiked afterwards, why are your kids taking drugs to begin with? Is this done to intentionally get high?
