    I enjoy the format of this show! The pace is slow, it is positive and not condemning, and the stories are sincere. I enjoy it greatly. I like how you go through one story and then the other, as well. @OnlyHuman

    The blonde antique consultant is so genial and handsome. His face really lights up when he smiles. Jason stuff is actually over paid since he bought most of it from full retail. The most profitable way is to buy stuff from original times or at garage sales.

    The violin STILL sounds like warm honey, even if it isn't the "real" thing.I think Jason is a bit starry eyed about his stuff. He thinks his stuff is worth more than it is. For someone who is supposed to be in and out of auction houses, he hasn't picked up on the fact that prices fluctuate on different things. The things he bought and squirreled away in his storage locker dropped in value in the 5 yrs he had them in there. A real antique dealer would know when to sell something so they wouldn't lose the price that they first paid.

    I think all of the items from this series are sold at one auction. You can see the 3 white chairs with the gold arms and the same bidders--such as the woman speaking to someone on the phone--in every episode.

    but I am not better myself... those thing in my storage... not opening those boxes they were put it for transit from my old home.. yeah... those books and more can be total junk now.

    OMG. Jason has very little taste or understanding of antiques and collectibles. Of course, a personal opinion, but it seems to be the consensus. Nouveau riche ostentation.

    • @johnblake4589
      @johnblake4589 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Actually, some of his antiques are very nice (bronzes, his desk, furniture, etc.). What he lacks is the knowledge required. For instance, the "Chinese warrior" is brand new, what he takes to be a "Chinese tea service" is a Japanese Kutani set worth unfortunately, very little. When you see him in that auction room, it's one of the big ones in London that caters for very wealthy clientèle for whom money is no object. Unfortunately, the antiques world isn't something that you can just "get into". You need a lot of experience, gained over years or alternatively to work with an expert who has that experience. Otherwise you're going to make some bad investments and overpay.

    • @tranzco1173
      @tranzco1173 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I am in that business, many of those "antiques" are from the 1980's and 1990's.
      Where he shops, "Lots Road" is where they film the show "Auction House" and again, 90 percent of the people shopping there are newly rich, which is great for them but their taste is usually quite bad, and the provenance of the items is almost always suspect. They do sell a lot of "fun" stuff though.
      It's their money is what I always say in situations like this.

      I bet you were kicking yourself for all those YEARS of renting an apartment for your STUFF. Because, when you think about it, that’s what it IS. My mom’s doing it now, she is throwing away money on things she hasn’t laid eyes on in at LEAST 30 years. She’s dragged it around, had it stored in her garage for at LEAST 20 years before she rented a storage unit, and NEVER opened a box. Now she lives with me, and is throwing her money away month after month. I’ve made it clear I don’t WANT IT. I’m supporting her. Maybe she should give ME that money, eh? I’ve never said she should, it’s her junk, but I do resent it. I hear it all. 1, She’s going to sell it. 2, Maybe it valuable. 3, You never know what somebody might want. 1. No, she’s not. She never has. 2. I seriously doubt it, and whatever MIGHT be in there is less than what’s she’s spent in storage fees. 3. NOBODY wants your old DVD player.😩
