I use an old ski pole, attached by a line, that has graphics at comfortable depth so I know how deep things are before committing

Hey man I've been following you for the past couple months now I'm subscribed. I have a question I just bought my first dozen of midges can you give me any tips or tricks how to fish them do I use them with the indicator or do I use as like a dry fly?

It depends on what kind of midges you bought. There are adult and nymph versions of midges. If you bought the nymphs, then fishing them under an indicator, or as part of a dry dropper rig, is the way to go. If you have some midge dry flies, then rigging up to fish a dry fly rig would be the play.
