As a local Pittsburgh resident since 2008 I appreciate you calling the 643 by its proper deserved name often stolen by foamers and given to that dang big boy great work
I have been on the rail fans tour 2 years ago here, what a beautiful monument to this great man. Thank you Jerry Joe Jacobson for your dream of this beautiful building and saving such beautiful machines. Thank you Laura Jacobson for being a big part of this great endeavor.
Still delivering quality content like none other in the TH-cam railfan community. You will always be a big inspiration for all TH-cam railfans. Thank you for continuing to do what you’ve done for the past decade!
I remember first knowing of Jerry Jacobson's steam-powered ambitions in America By Rail, when Greg Scholl and Les Jarrett visited the Ohio Central Railroad as a sidetrip in 1994. The locomotive was appropriately 1551.
Stellar video, Chris :3 Btw just wondering: When you visited the Age of Steam Roundhouse... did you by any chance get to see Felix the Roundhouse Cat? ^^
I visited that place back in 2021. It was amazing to be in the presence of Legends of the Rails! Although I was happy for the most part, I did feel rather sad at the sight of 1278. I wish they would consider restoring her to operation after McCloud 19, especially after her terrible history on the Gettysburg. It would also be nice if they brought her and 1293 out of the roundhouse for some side-by-side shots in the future. 6325 is my personal favorite, as it was the first engine I ever saw when I first learned of the Ohio Central on Railway Productions "Steam in the Autumn". I've even seen several of these engines' sisters such as TVRM 610, GTW 6323, NKP 757 & 759, and LS&I 35. I even saw 1522 in Missouri back in 2011.
1278 is at least cosmetically restored; but it would take a lot to return her to service. Since 1293 is a more complete engine, it’s the easier of the two to return to steam.
Great video i say 1551 is my favorite. Though 6325 and 1293 are probably my other two favorites. (Mostly cause i have a few videos when the ohio central railroad was running steam and all three of them were the stars). I putted 1551 as my favorite (mostly cause it started the tourist operations for the ohio central). also i enjoyed the berkshire productions video livin' the dream with the 1551 and I've also wonder if they kept the alco s-2 diesel no. 12. Jerry did a amazing job with preserving these machines.
Jerry joe Jacobson, the savior of forgotten excursion stars.. he would be proud of his still growing collection
Great work, Mr. Kovacs, I would love to be there one day. RIP Jerry Joe Jacobson.
Thank you! Age of Steam is definitely worth a visit! 😎👍🏼
Nice to see that you’re still posting train videos thank you for what you have done. You built my childhood.

Unfortunately, Felix was on the mend during our visit
@@DASCO2136 Oof.... will he be able to recover?
@@jimmyhook4852I’m sure he’s been back at the Roundhouse and still greets visitors on occasion 😊

@@trainmaster844 I understand. I just think that 1278 deserves another lease on life, and that it'd be something F. Nelson Blount would've wanted.
Fun Fact: They also have another engine in the collection, but its being moved. Bessemer and Lake Erie 2-10-4 number 643.
I did mention B&LE 643 in this video. At the time of production, only the tender was at AOSRM.
Christopher I love all steam I’m a steam fan
