We’ve always regarded sea days as one of the really exclusive benefits of a cruise vs. a land holiday so eight days transatlantic was perfect for our first Virgin Voyages cruise…we enjoyed it so more we have three more VV cruises booked this year, two of them back to back.
I was on this sailing. Prior to this sailing, the longest cruise I have been on was a 9 day cruise. I thought this 14-day cruise was perfect. I didn't have to wake up early, and I was able to eat in the restaurants more than once. It was very relaxing and they had a lot of activities to keep you busy. The only drawback for me was that I was not able to enjoy my hammock much bc it was rather chilly some days. The time change on the sea days didn't bother me bc I wasn't getting off the ship the next day. I booked an 11-day cruise in 2025 and the 16-day Panama cruise in 2026 with VV. Thank you for the great video. I can't wait for my next VV cruise this September from Portsmouth, UK.
So glad you enjoyed the video and the transatlantic voyage! Those longer sailings really do lend themselves to pure relaxation and we love it! We’re booked onto the 2026 Panama cruise too! 🙌🏻🙌🏻❤️
I just watched your video and totally enjoyed your Transatlantic VV cruise insights. My hubby and I will be will be on the Scarlet Lady this November, after 10 days between Madrid and Venice, we're heading westbound CIV-Barcelona-Malaga, Funchal, Tenerife then to MIA (we're from FLL). Based on your insights, we are even more excited to experience this cruise, and excited for the extra 1 hour each day at sea as it gets warmer, enjoying all the dining options, entertainment and lastly doing absolutely Nothing. Thank you guys! from Marco and Tim
Hi Guys! Thanks so much for your comment and for watching, very much appreciated! So glad you enjoyed it! We’re very envious of that extra hour you’ll get 😂, it’ll make the world of difference! Have THE BEST time! 🥂
Great video, boys! Get some Kwells in case of any seasickness. They don't wipe you out like some of the other medication. Good for a nauseous hangover also! Looking forward to more content. Please stay off spending 30 minutes reviewing a croissant like Ben and David.
Your comment on the time changes was spot on. Going the other direction (Europe to US) is FAR easier as the days get longer. I've done 4 TAs on Virgin and somewhere around 12 total--a lot depends on the line, the extra activities and entertainment they book, etc. Some lines do it better than others.
Doing Barcelona to Miami on Resilient this fall. Our first VV, first TA, and our longest cruise yet (previously 10 days, this is 15). So excited. How full were your TAs?
@@TracyKMainwaring I've done each of the 4 TAs on VV between Miami and Barcelona. Each one was more full than the time before. First one was 1400, most recent (April 2024) was 2150. I definitely iked the less full ship better!
Hey boys! Glad to see some good cruise content. Watching your Virgin vlogs now. I took you #570! Keep the vlogs coming. It pays off! Took us forever but it’s a juice worth the squeeze.
Enjoyed your perspective on the transatlantic voyage. I think I ( Kelly) could do it fine but Bob might go a bit bonkers. We often don't get off the ship on port days either. I bet seeing land was nice though! You lucked out having calmer seas, I would also be worried about motion sickness. We are addicted to Virgin cruising, love hearing other's perspectives!
Hi Kelly! Glad you enjoyed it! Definitely lucked out with the weather, I think the route we took (a more southern Atlantic crossing) is generally a bit calmer though so worth keeping that in mind. We love love love Virgin too (if you couldn’t tell 😂)
Thanks for this. Your video quality, editing, and sound is excellent. We don't think we would enjoy a transatlantic though. One sea day at a time is enough 😂. It's mainly about the destinations for us. VV would probably be the best option, though, as there seems to be so much to do.
Can I ask a a question what time and date is the best to book your restaurants. Are font get released till August 1st but not sure what's best Thanks in advance guys please keep posting ❤
Of course you can ask a question :) We would say as soon as bookings open - but if you don’t get the ones you want - don’t worry. They open more reservations on the day you board - so you can do that as soon as you’re connected to the ship Wi-Fi. You will most likely need to move pre-booked ones anyway when the final times for shows etc get released :)
They release about 30% of the restaurant bookings 45 days (or 60 days for rockstars) ahead of the voyage, I guess that’s August 1st for you. And if you want to be extra keen… they usually go live a midnight EST 😂. We tend to book things in advance if we can, but just keep in mind show times/days, and always get a later dining time on the first night, you don’t want to miss sail away (…free drinks!). Don’t worry if things are ‘sold out’ though, the rest of the bookings are released on board. So head straight to the app once you’ve boarded (or seek assistance - they usually have dining reservations teams available at Razzle Dazzle or Pink Agave between 2 and 4:30 on the first day). You can also amend existing reservations with them too, if you find a clash with a show. Lastly….. if all else fails, always try walk up availability. They can often squeeze you in, if just at the bar! Hope that helps!❤️
Oh hey, you caught me and my wife at the untitled Dance party!!!! I remember meeting you guys. I have to agree with all your points here. It was our first Virgin cruise and first transatlantic, but not our first cruise. I was definitely wary about the 8 full days at sea back to back, but I had no issues with all the activities. I should note that this particular cruise, had more activities that are different from other cruise lines i've been on which made them a lot more fun, in my opinion. Also, I should add my perspective on the queues for the shows. The main issue, at least for our cruise, was that we did not know if the show we that were playing, would repeat later in the cruise. I figured out how to find out that info, but it wasn't exactly intuitive. Once i figured that out, I was able to see some of the shows i missed earlier in the cruise. Because of the length of our cruise, most of the shows did repeat, so the queue on the 2nd showing was much lower. For example, the Circus pre-show, the first showing, the queue went all the way through the Atrium and almost to Test Kitchen. I was at the bend between the roundabout and the stores, so i didn't look back to see how far the line went, but it went around the corner at least. 2nd showing, it barely got to the Atrium. So my guess is that other people also weren't sure, so everyone packed the first showing thinking it was the only showing, but during the 2nd showing, it wasn't as crowded because people had already seen it.
Hi!! The untitled dance party is so fun isn’t it! Great point regarding the programme of events, you do have to do a bit of digging to find out if things are on multiple times. Glad you managed to get into them eventually though! 😊
I think I'd want to get off after a couple of days! We like all the various destinations so transatlantic is prob not for us. Great video though guys! 👍
We’d defo still enjoy it, we’re not late night partiers and don’t tend to spend loads of time sitting in bars, we just like a tipple whilst we’re wondering/lounging around. So I don’t think it would differ too much if we cut the alcohol out.
Sold! Maybe in 2027??? I've got so much planned already (including THREE VV's and I haven't sailed with them yet so I'm trusting you guys LOL). Great video, I WOULD love it if you could, at the start of each video, label each of you briefly cause I can't keep track of who is who between you (that is likely just me, but if I visually saw it once at the beginning then it will stick).
Oh wowiee!! Great that you’ve got so many VVs to look forward to! Glad you enjoyed the video. And noted about our names 😂😂. In the meantime, if it helps …. David = no glasses, Mark = glasses. Although, that doesn’t help when we’re wearing sunglasses! Haha
Your cruise had far less passengers than what we experienced on Resilient Lady from Auckland to Sydney, 12 nights. Our sailing was 91% or 2550 pax. We would not sail on Virgin Voyages again because the ship was understaffed and it affected every part of our experience. We had 2 good dinners out of 12. Most times our food was served at room temps. It was just disgusting. This was my 56th cruise and the first one that I wished that it ended earlier. The Lady ships are designed for warm weather. Our 2 days of sailing in the Tasman Sea were rough, with the bow of the ship slamming into the huge waves. It was so loud that the sound would wake us up at night. I just cannot recommend Virgin Voyages as our experience was very sub-standard compared to other cruise lines.
Hey! Sorry to hear that you had that experience. That’s certainly not the norm for VV. Our transatlantic had 2450 onboard, and the ship and crew coped amazingly. We sailed resilient lady from Singapore to Sydney with a similar number of people onboard and had a fab time too. Like I said, sorry to hear you had a different experience, I guess sometimes all lines can have itineraries that go a bit wayward :(

Will definitely watch the entire series! Have sailed Royal and Princess. First time on Virgin and going solo in January for 8 days. Thanks, boys! 🥂
You’re very welcome! Thanks for watching, and we hope you have the best time! From what we’ve seen, Virgin is one of the best for solo travellers 🤗🥳🥂
So much fun! I think I spotted you guys at the very end of the sailing! Love the video! 🥂
Ah fab!! So glad you enjoyed it. It was a fantastic voyage wasn’t it!
Great vlog. I’m doing this cruise in May and the time shift is the only thing I was concerned with
Fantastic! Glad you enjoyed the vlog! We’re sure you’ll have a fab time, but we can’t lie, the time changes are tiring! 😴
Great video! I am trying to talk my hubby into one of these, I know I’ll love it, while he’s unsure of that many days at sea.
Thank you! Glad you enjoyed it! I was a little wary of that many days at sea before we went, but honestly it was fine. Good luck convincing him 😂❤️
You summed up the transatlantic perfectly! Very informative for any first timers on a VV transatlantic voyage :)
Thank you so much :) ❤️

We laughed at the croissant comment…… do love a nice one though!😂😂
Hi! I was on that voyage with you 🎉. Had a great time, mainly because I got to spend a lot of quality time with an old friend. Definitely worth it!
Hello! So glad you had a great time. These longer voyages definitely allow for lots of relaxing and catching up! We love them! ❤️
Thanks for the video! We are booked on that itinerary in 2025. Looking forward to the 8-day crossing to unwind and relax.
