Great reaction video, El Es is just a phenomenal drummer, master of his craft, i love seeing other musicians like yourself enjoying and respecting what he can do. Its not a competition, just an appreciation and enjoyment of another persons talent and i tend to find its musicians like you and many others in YT that get that the most! And no, i cant play a single instrument unless airdrumming and fingers tapping any surface count!! Thanks for the video dude!!

You were correct. He puts the pinky over the stick when he wants to bang it multiple times in a row in quick succession (don't know the proper name lol) into the toms/bongos.
@@ShaneAlanGower Try it, you kinda use a diferent group of muscles when using that technic. Gives speed and ive heard is good for cramps. He is not the only drummer i have seen with that grip. Just do the experiment, move your arm with the standar grip and then use that other grip, you will find out you switch to diferent muscle groups. The wrist moves in a diferent motion with each of them.
I actually tried this earlier. Felt like I had lots more control and yes I was using different muscles. The only thing is it kind of hurt my knuckle. I've seen lots of drummers in my life but I've never seen that before. Enjoy learning new things 🤘

Regarding the weird way of holding his sticks some times: I believe he's said that the change in position reduces the strain on him.
