I love my 2020 soul ev limited I just bought used. This is a bit of clickbait emphasizing “don’t buy” as if there’s something wrong with this car. There isn’t. It’s amazing. Long range, high tech, safe, comfortable, efficient, powerful, roomy, looks great, charges fast enough. Getting one off lease saved me a ton of money vs new. Love it!
I just bought the Kia Soul, and watched this test both before AND after buying it. The interior really impresses me, as it has a very good design an is super easy to use, the steering wheel is sporty and has the right controls installed. The seats are just wonderful to sit in, with plenty of side support, and even the door panels are well designed with good grips and well padded armrests, and the whole interior has a very high degree of quality feel, as in a lot of far more expensive cars. I have previously had cars like Audi, Porsche and Volvo, so I definitely have something to compare with, but after three days I already love my little Soul. So, right here I do not understand what Kris is talking about! This interior is far from boring!!!
For anyone thinking about buying a KIA is how comfortable they are to drive and for the passengers. I have a 2020 gas and love it. I'm going to get electric in a few years when they become more standard and iron out any kinks which I doubt the Soul has many of. I like the interiors. They are really clean and not flashy. I don't need a bunch of accents that will impress no one after a few minutes. I find those types of additions actually distracting and showy. Over tech on a vehicle gets to the point to where it's for sales, not real-time use. Your review is spot on Kris. I've subscribed and thanks for the video.
Thanks for the Video Kris. I can only agree with you. Great small car from the outside but the inside does simply not match the box design. Still I like the car.
Kris, I really appreciate your real world reivews. Most of us will never go on a 1,000 mile trip in a day. There is an obsession with longer and longer range, your reviews are very good and detailed.
Seriously considering getting this Kia, went to dealership today, this is by far the most comprehensive review. For us it only confirmed our thoughts as potential first time EV vehicle drivers we are very impressed with this car. Thanks Kris.🙏👍
very good description... for me it is a classical mini- or microvan with a few modern things taken from SUV's. You have the updated (about 2 months ago) version of the multimeida system and it is in some ways a little step backwards. Especially the Home screen was before better, it was shared in 3 information areas. For me the inside is not boring, though you are right in that darkness. Most important it is practical, the whole car is enormous practical. Minimum outside size with maximum inside size, you can use it for journeys as well as a utility car... that is great. It makes so much fun to drive with that surprising acceleration, fully assistants, superb regen and good sound system. I have bought the middle trim version and this is already very well equipped... for example the id.3 with that trim level is clearly more expensive, Kia gives even more discounts. Ok... that boxy design polarize and is a little "special", but it is so usefull. This car is always underestimated, you don't expect that fast and funny drive when you see it ;-) ... I like that understatement.
Hey Kris, I have seen you many times with Bjorn. I enjoyed your video and wanted to say that I have owned a 2020 Nero e-Soul for a year and I love it. My max range in the summer was 552 Km but the winter has been all over the road. I did replace the sock Nexen tyres with Noken All Weather and find the noise not an issue. I really enjoy this car as I have a bad back and find getting into / out of the vehicle so much easier than the Model 3. I would have purchased the Model Y basic but it was not available one year ago. I really enjoy your videos; keep them coming!
Hi Kris, a great & in my opinion accurate review. Have just completed 20,000km in mine. Have been very surprised how efficient it is & love just how easy it is to live with.
Nice review! I drove this one about 1000 km. It is for sure the best small(ish) EV. And I actually like the interior. The only drawback is no possibility of having a hook. Technically it is very the same as my e-Niro which I love. Actually I think that E-Soul looks better than e-Niro.
speaking of taste, I dislike it's front, same for the bubbly interior, but it's a more than just decent EV (charging speed is a bit outdated, but hey). Personally I'd prefer the e-Niro, which is technically almost the same car. And I prefer that one over the Kona any time. Taste aside, all three of them are a very good choice (Kona only if you don't have adult back seat passengers regularly). As always: Many thanks for the review (series)!
In the Uk there is only one spec and thats the top spec with the large battery.I am seriously considering buying one. Perhaps the tech isn’t bang up to date but I think it’s tried and tested with no bugs unlike some of the newer cars. Also get a seven year warranty. I’m not too worried about charging speed as for the most part I would charge at home. If going on a long journey, I would normally stop for an hour somewhere anyway so plenty of time for something to eat and a coffee
The 2019 Soul EV I have has nice grey/ blue piping on the seats, much lighter, I agree they could have done better on lighting up the interior with more of a change on the colour palate, but I love this 2020 / 2021 car from the tech and efficiency, I drove 2000KM with the the Adaptive cruise and lane departure control, I was refreshed, never done a trip that long with any other car and not feeling it! I change my tires and my cabin noise is much better than the factory stock Nixen tires, either with my Continental WinterContact SI Plus or my Cooper Zeon RS3-G1 summer tires are quiet.
Hé has no right!! I have one and this is the best car in my life. Buy a E soul Because hé is super. Driving far and use less energie. For me is this car 100%. ILOVE HIM.
How about this, I never considered an e-Soul before this video. I even own a 2018 ICE Soul and love it. The things which are missing are 2 memory settings for the drivers seat, auto folding mirrors, washer for the rear camera, 2.5cm more ground clearance, AW drive. I'm concerned about the lack of battery protection along the leading edge.
The Android Auto I wish you could do full screen rather than 2/3rds, I mentioned this to Kia on the feedback at the dealer, and hoping for a software update, as Android Auto here in Canada are much better and up to date for finding EV chargers and planing your route and having a larger map would be great. And if they do it would have been nice to have % battery level on the main driving console.
the one thing I do not like is no alert when the Auto-steer disengagement, not sure about that, Kia could do better with that alert rather than the very small Icon on the dash going form green to white.
Not trying to bash it, but the "impressive" safety tech mentions about 9 min in was in my Forester 6 years ago and it was cheaper than the Soul EV. I would be disappointed if any auto that carries the premium EVs do didn't have at least that much tech.
Please don't compare this Soul EV to any resemblance of any Land Rover product, my wife owns a 2020 KIA Soul EV Limited and is enjoying its features and most importantly battery range 383-420 km on a full charge during the summer. Speaking from personal ownership experience with Land Rover, it's a nightmare in maintenance, reliability, etc. 10,000 km in the shop and 2000 km on the road was our experience with Land Rover. They make a fine vehicle for car thieves who may export them overseas, let someone else deal with the unreliability of Land Rover vehicles. You must have a vivid imagination to mention these two manufacturers together. My wife has already ordered a second KIA Soul EV to add to her first electric vehicle. Enjoyed the video.
Ok Kia North America we need much improved charger updates on the infotainment map, none of the biggies like Electrify Canada, Petro Canada actually all the high speed chargers are not listed (over 50KW) some are over 2 years in operation in Canada!!! One thing is nice is you can download new updated Maps, but just the maps are very dated, they need to spend a little more effort in updating maps.
Hi, I’m new to your channel - I’ve just subscribed. Please can you answer me this question; looking at the side profile of the cat - rear side section where the rear side window kinks upwards into the ‘C’ pillar I notice the Soul embossed writing is indeed green. I’ve never seen this before and am interested in doing mine but in blue. Can you please tell me where this was purchased from? I’d be most grateful. Kind regards from Cumbria in the U.K. stay safe and well.
I do not understand where hard or firm riding equated to good handling. If we go back to 1960 and 1970 British car, the the e type the jaguar s type the xj saloon the rover p5 and P6 the triumph 2500. All had soft comfortable ride and the handled great you could put the into high speed bends with great confidence great chassis design does not need firm suspension setting . Look at some French cars they have very soft rides but handle very well Its very much a German American trait that cars have to be firm to handle well. Unfortunately this passed into car design law and car reviews only level of knowledge seems to be firms is good for track cars going around a circuit so must have to be the same on the road. The problem with today pathetic tester isva lack of real car driving most would not know a good handling car from a wet paper bag. There are on or to But the good all road tester have gone. So we get the same parrot fashion report without substance or conviction to writing a good report. Then we get the tester who are afraid to contradict the celebrity over paid testers like Clarkson Hammond May Etal.

Hello @UChapkoUdboCUvipOfwWb7DQ thank you so much for your videos for the KIA e-Soul EV. I live in France and have just purchased a 2022 KIA e-SOUL EV. I thank it is a great vehicle and will be here to last for a long time. Thanks again and kept up the great work with your videos. Thanks!

240km range in wintertime has to be a very low number? Is it at 120km/h with headwind? NAF did a test and they got 352km. Tesla M3LR got 404.
