This video demonstrates your commitment to trying to be fair and giving this drone manufacturer a chance. Unfortunately, when you consider the price point and the features, or lack of features, it’s no longer relevant in the marketplace. I think xDynamics thought process and reach was too high with this one. Nothing wrong with dreaming big, but it’s going to come with a cost. In this example, they have a lot to learn and continue to grow to even be considered relevant in todays marketplace.
Mike, Thanks for the time reviewing our Drone. We appreciate all comments from users because this is what make us grow better and inovate on future projects. We want to participate in this discussion to clarify some points you found and also answer people's questions. The clear communication between us and the community is important. We are preparing a video with some points to be clarified and we will send it to you. I'm Eduardo Russo, Drone specialist and head of Operations and Customer Service in the USA for Xdynamics.
I am 100% interested in acquiring an Evolve 2. The price is not an issue. The performance -particularly the signal lag are deal breakers. It's been YEARS, and all the features are not ready yet? Is Obstacle Avoidance enabled yet? So much potential, but if it's not ready, then neither am I. Thanks for your efforts. I shall seek you out in a forum outside of TH-cam.
@@BlairAir Thanks for correcting me. I'd be very embarassed if this was in my native language, as this mistake was in english I should be grateful for your correction and humble to learn. Thank you. Now answering your statements. The obstacle avoidance sensors were disabled by factory because the main core was overflooding it's capacity and in order to make the whole system faster and more reliable we turned off the 4 cameras. The video lag is about 200ms it does bother some pilots but other users are just fine with that. The version this channel tested was an old flight controller version and his batteries were probably not cycled as I usually get 28 minutes of flight time here in SOCal. Have you ever flown Evolve2 yourself? If you are in the USA I can certainly arrange you a test flight and I'm sure you will change your mind. Thanks again. BTW - My native language is Portuguese and I speak other 3. Regards.
Hey Mike, great video as always. I see that you had a lot of struggle to make this video and probably lost a lot of precious hours to test it properly. Just wanted to ask if there was also some problems focusing with it? I see a lot of videos in the review not being so sharp. I can suppose that you made the best to have the focus right and 100% not your fault! I really admire this kind of reviews because it shows all the struggle and commitment when doing reviews! You are a legend!
Glad you enjoyed it Mauro! Yes, it did take lots of trips to different places, lots of trial & error and lots of back & forth to make things happen. Ultimately, this is some of the best footage I managed to salvage as like I said, i lost a ton of footage due to an SSD crash without backup. I can see some focus issues here and there but I can't say if it's me not focusing properly before i press record or an issue with the camera. Thanks again for your kind words and support, always :)
Mike and Mauro, The E2 has the auto focus that will focus the point you touch as your focus subject, if you use the focus peaking tool built-in that will show you the exact focal area of your image, also the manual focus is available to give the photographer the option of focusing a more foreground object or closer. Also manual focus is interesting for shooting video with changing focal point. If anyone wants us to show what we mean, we can shoot and post a video about focusing
I think you left a few additional points or didn’t discuss it at all. You didn’t mention that the controller has swappable batteries 🔋 which IMO increases the productivity of the drone and furthers it’s length in the field. 2 you say the controller is really heavy but it’s actually not too far off from an DJI RC Pro in terms of weight. You didn’t mention at all regarding the obstacle avoidance they have on the front and bottom sensors at all. Is the obstacle avoidance still turned off? Do the bottom sensors even function or does this drone continue to drift while hovering? Transmission…. You talked about latency which of course is a big deal, but what about transmission range? It was a huge problem with Evolve 1, has Xdynamics improved this for the Evolve 2? You also didn’t discuss at all the fact that you can add high gain antennas with a standard thread type. I appreciate you bringing some of your audience to this incredible drone, but I think you could have served this company better working WITH them on these issues then producing yet another video highlighting their shortcomings.
I think it has potential but as of now its not worth a 1/8th of the cost. They need to ditch the gimmick remote and focus more on drone and how well it flies!
I agree with Eroc. From what I've read and the reviews I've seen, I think the Evolve 2 has great potential. With DJI about to come out with the Inspire 3, xDynamics better knuckle down and improve the Evolve 2 so it works for us professionals. There is one thing I would mention since I'm in America. As I understand it, there are no flying restrictions built into this drone like all the DJI products. I actually had two project severely impacted by the DJI restrictions even after getting all the proper FAA exceptions...DJI still would not let me fly where I needed to. For me, that alone is pushing me toward the Evolve 2. I think the controller is very cool. I like the double screens but, absolutely, that lag has to be reduced. When the DJI Phantom first came out, they included a nice harness you could wear to help you hold their remote for long periods. Perhaps xDynamics could add such a thing. I really liked the old harness. Thanks for great review Drone Supremacy.
Any chance of a side by side comparison between the Evolve 2 and Mavic 3? I don't think I've even seen the two in the same video... That would be very interesting in my opinion.
Really curious and willing to buy this, but they have had a long, difficult road to here. Hell, I paid $4409 for Mavic 3 Fly More, RC Pro and a 4th battery, so it's not the money. It's if this thing meets even some of the hype. Mike, have you had it up to top speed? It's rated for 55 mph
It's so interesting to contrast this video against your Mavic 3 review. Everyone wants to give these guys a pass and take it easy on them. I appreciate the position you're in though. It's really tough to try and stay positive and not compare this product, that's been on the market in one form or another for over 3 years, against others that you already own. Honestly, is the footage coming off this drone's camera superior to the footage you get from the Mavic 3? Is the obstacle avoidance working now? Are there any autonomous features? How is the range/transmission in complex environments? Are there any advanced features in their app? What's the "get off the ground time"? How accurate is the LIDAR system? I'm actually interested.
@Drone Supremacy Yes, I do really think you've done a good job in that regard but what about my questions? I fully admit that I'm not in the market for this drone as I'd rather keep putting my faith in the Mavic 3 or Inspire 2. Both of which are very full-feature drones. However, many people are willing to overlook eccentricities in a camera if it delivers a better image. Like my Hasselblad fixation, for example. No one will even claim Hasselblad makes a "better" camera than say, Sony but Dat image doe... Hahaha! My main, sincere, question is, does the Evolve 2 produce an objectively better image than a Mavic 3? They are in a similar price range if you get the Cine version and have similar codec available. People can argue the specifics of different ProRes versions or 4k vs 5.1k.,XLog vs DLog, etc. I understand that with the possibility of different lenses, the Evolve 2 can and should be better but that's a question that can only be answered when we actually have the lenses... Not to mention that brings the package closer to Inspire 2 territory. Basically, even with the issues, is the juice worth the squeeze? The M3Cine costs around $5000 but delivers way more features and around 2 hours of flight time with the included batteries. To get 2 hrs of flight time out of a E2, you'd need at least 6 batteries, from what I hear, which puts us in a similar price range, especially when you consider the cost of a 1T CFast card to take the place of the onboard SSD. I've never seen a comparison between the Mavic 3 and the Evolve 2. I honestly think that would be worthwhile considering the similar camera specs and price. I've never even seen them displayed side by side in a video, I don't think. I'm honestly interested in seeing that type of comparison, in willing to guess many people are...
So far I have not found anyone who wants to pay me to come to their location and fly a piece of tech-art around just because it looks cool. Mostly I get paid for quick setup and consistent precision flight while delivering camera ready imagery. As a professional this drone isn't up to peer standards.
Pretty sure $100 wouldn't buy the Olympus 1.7 lens on this, nor the hand laid, 3K Carbon Fiber Monocoque body, even if Carbon Fiber isn't quite the "exotic" material it was considered a decade or more ago. You find me a huge, custom designed MAGNESIUM heat sink, that's also the base of the monocoque (this thing requires no fan) - or a drone that flies 55mph -thats not an Inspire. I'm hugely impressed that they can make and sell just this Aircraft for less than $5-6k. Whatever they are doing/failing to do in development, there are no corners cut in terms of materials, build or hardware design. Extraordinary.

Great video Mike...this drone seems great but about 5 years too late on its release.

Do you still have the evolve 2, looking for parts, interested in purchasing if you still have it.
I do still have it yea, drop me a DM on Instagram!

The top speed is insane, the drone reaches almost 100km/h in sport mode and it's a blast to fly in it, it sucks up the battery very quickly though :)
@@DroneSupremacy I bet. I am planning to test it and decide if it's for me!

Agree, efficiency is 🔑
Yea but just think of all the people that'll walk up and tell you how beautiful the drone is... that's got to be worth $3700.
this is a good drone with some big "but"(s)
Bit much for something that probably cost $100 to make! 🙄🙄
