    Living on the east coast of the Island I don't know that I have ever been in a Sitka dominated forest. They are sparse here but we do have several on our property near Bowser including one very large and old one. Maybe I was in Sitka forest in the 90s when I visited Nitnat Lake and just didn't know it at the time. Beautiful drone footage and stills. Loved the pano.

      Good to know. I see you're a bonsai master. I used to photograph a lot of private gardens for a magazine called Gardens West. Over the years with GW I visited a number of Bonsai Gardens across Canada. Thanks for subscribing.

    Lovely video Adam! The imagery and drone footage make for a very calm and peaceful video. Although I haven't been that far north on Vancouver Island, and it has been almost thirty years since I last visited, the video brings back wonderful memories of the Pacific Northwest rainforests and my youth. Looking forward to "to be continued".

      Thanks, James! Perhaps I should get an afro and call myself the Bob Ross of photography, haha. Glad to hear that you enjoyed the video. Next Vlog should be up in a day or two, thanks again.

    Great video! Nice to see woodland photography in action. I often find the chaos of it overwhelming and avoid it completely..

    • @QuietLightPhoto
      @QuietLightPhoto  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks, Jarrad! Most definitely the chaos is very challenging and I must admit that each time I go to these forests end up composing similar images from what I've done before. I guess it helps if you can find a centre of interest to help the composition along. Thanks, again.

    Very nice footage Adam, and som really great video work! The drone footage is just a part of the story telling. In some photographers drone work it seems they are so blown away by there new toy, that the actual reason for the video gets lost. Super!

    • @QuietLightPhoto
      @QuietLightPhoto  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks, Adam! I absolutely love using the drone, especially in forests. The perspective that I can achieve with a UAV is second to none. You're absolutely right though, too much of a good thing can be a detriment to the video and I think I'm guilty of this sometimes. I do use a lot of drone footage, can't help myself, haha. The perspective I like the most is soaring relatively low to the ground with objects close to the lens. Thanks again for the feedback.

    Aaaaah nice. I always find your videos so soothing to watch Adam. What action cam/gimble rig do you use? I'm gonna finall try one of these vlogs soon.

    • @QuietLightPhoto
      @QuietLightPhoto  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Cheers, Gavin! No gimble although would be great to have one. Mind you that would mean more stuff to carry. I use the Mavic for most of the lower angle moving shots since it has the gimble. You should do a vlog, you have some awesome footage, timelapse etc.

    Production quality is top notch! This place reminds me of several areas in Olympic National Park in Washington St. I’ll be making a vlog there soon. Loved the final image.

      Cheers, Diego! Very much like the Olympics and as the crow flies not that far from the Olympic peninsula. From any high vantage along the Pacific Rim on the Island you can see the states.

    • @QuietLightPhoto
      @QuietLightPhoto  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks, Patricia! I think I enjoy the intros more than the talking, haha. I think you would agree that having a person in the frame helps with the scale? In the next video, I do some similar selfies since I'm dealing with Canada's largest tree, the Cheewhat giant.

    Another great and relaxing vlog, that's some awesome drone control through the woods, what drone do you use?

    • @QuietLightPhoto
      @QuietLightPhoto  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks! as far as the drone goes I use both the DJI Inspire and Mavic Pro although lately, the Mavic seems to be taking over. It's an awesome piece of kit. For the forest shoots, I generally turn off all of the proximity sensors and fly in Tripod mode, then speed the footage up when I edit the video. I'm finding that what seems to work best is to try to find a straight path so that the footage doesn't have any jarring twists or turns as these become more pronounced when speeded up. Usually, takes several runs to get it right. On this trip, the hardest part was keeping both hands on the joysticks while getting eaten alive by mosquitoes, haha.

      Adam Gibbs Well done quite a lot involved then, the shots look super smooth though :) think i will get saving for the mavic, yeah I had the same issue with midges in Scotland!!

    Gorgeous but is not there a risk of meeting a bear?

    • @QuietLightPhoto
      @QuietLightPhoto  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you! Sometimes I meet bears, they are very cuddly, haha. Seriously, most of the time they just run away as they are more afraid of you than you of them.
