We need this for X-Wing too! I'm not a competitive X-Wing player, I just play for fun at home with friends, so something like this would be perfect to make it more interesting!
Look into Heroes of the Aturi cluster, it's a fan made 'mod' that you can download for free. I've heard people quoted £/$ 40-50 for it to be printed at a proper printers studio but it adds so much content.
Love your unboxing videos, but (in my humble opinion), the background sound kind of gets in the way of your voice. Maybe you could put it lower... but thats my opinion... lol
I plan to put it into a picture frame and use Velcro on each of the spots. The token will be attached to cardboard or plastic with Velcro on its back. This should work great AND will go up on the wall in between uses so it’s out of the way. I’d rather better quality from FFG but it has given me the option to do my own build, so I guess it’s okay
The new cards are cool, the map is a huge let down. The campaign can be played with only 2 players but it doesn't look that much fun. Maybe adapting a bit and holding several fleets can do the trick. Thanks for the video.
I wonder: will FFG ever do something like this for X-Wing, i.e. a boxed set that is mostly cards that have alternate pilots/etc. for existing ships, a few interesting asteroids/bits of debris, and so forth? That would be one way to get something that I've always wanted for X-Wing: namely, a Scum version of Han Solo in the Millennium Falcon. He had a career long before Obi-Wan hired him in Mos Eisley, so why not make that a possibility for a game?
I imagine the mat is just a price point issue. The box is essentially just a bunch of cards right, so FFG knew they needed to keep the price point low to keep it actually marketable. A map that was a board, would have resulted in a higher cost and a larger box meaning a much higher price for customers - and then the issue would have been "$60 for a bunch of cards!?" I'm not sure what they could have done other than stickers? Hmm

Playmat is a bigger issue but not impossible to solve. I.e you can order a vinyl playmat with this map graphic. It's probably gonna be a little expensive but heck... Why not?
put the poster in a plastic poster frame from Walmart...laminate the stickers and turn them into tokens.....you can laminate or slide everything in page protectors and use real markers, not dry erase....alcohol takes off permanent markers
if you only have 1 other person to play with, you can get on a fleet builder and make 3 different builds with your ships....that's your 3 fleets, have the lists printed off and adjust em as you play...for instance, if you have a couple star destroyers and a few victories and squadronsthen fleet 1 can be 2 ISDs and squadronsfleet 2 can be 1 isd and a vic or 2...fleet 3 can be 3 vics and squadrons.....you don't have to buy more stuff than what you have, you just organize it into different fleets and send them on different missions depending on what you are trying to accomplish....you would need to alternate who commits what fleet to what first...or note it down on paper and hide what fleets go were so you the other player cant just keep countering player 1's fleets....if it was hidden until time to deploy, it adds the element of surprise...oh, 3 battles, 3 fleets to deploy.....lets send our isd's here, vics here and mix with squadrons here....home one and mon callas drop in on your vics..."gottcha b****"....then the mission changes from trying to accomplish your objective, to trying to keep your fleet combat capable and surviving, or maybe wiping out their flagship, bc 3 generic vics are able to be replaced in a campaign...while the home one aint.
Well, if they added Nora Wexley, maybe we'll FINALLY be getting Rae Sloane. Interesting though that they made her a Y-Wing pilot when I am fairly certain, she was flying an X-Wing at the Battle of Endor.
We have a facebook group - called Orlando Armada, X-Wing and Imperial Assault. I'm going to try to get some folks to agree to a weekly night for the campaign after the holidays.
You could start a descent fleet with a core set, Assault Frigate Mk. II, MC30c Frigate, and one of the Rebel Fighter Squadrons packs (either one). Then build from there based on how and what you want to do differently.

And here comes my question: Is this Armada campaign worth buying if I do not own single Armada model? How much would I need to spend on models to play this campaing and what models would I need?
Assuming you furnish everything: You can get 2 core sets for around $60 each. You would then need probably 4 more ships of medium or large size (Around $150-$200 total). Preferably at least 1 fighter pack per player $20 each. And then the campaign box, $30. That would furnish about 4 players for $400ish. Each player buying in themselves could get away for just over $120. Core $60 plus a couple ships. Look at the wiki for point values. Each player needs 400 points with one commander and one upgrade per ship max to start. Hope that helps. Edit: although that may seem steep. This was marketed to groups who have been playing already for a few years. It assumes you have a collection built up already.

On the armed station you flip flopped the dice abilities. It looked like 2 blue 2 red anti squadron and 1 red ship. Great review!

in some areas yes, but in others no way. The Squadron packs from this wave, for example, are amazingly done.
