Hey guys! Here’s a look at cool headphone I was introduced to called the Aftershokz OpenComm! It’s a great all around headset that’s unique in so many ways... excited to share this video! 😄

How do you like them after 4 months? Are they loud enough to hear them in noisy environments?

  • @MikeTrieu
    @MikeTrieu 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

Yeah, the OpenComm is pretty awesome. I love how slim and form-fitting it is. It's the only one with a boom mic that fits under my MicroClimate Air helmet easily. And I still have full situational awareness with them on all day. Proprietary chargers suck, but until the USB-IF creates their own standard magnetic charging standard, this works well enough (although, it's not an "induction" charger, no matter what their marketing department claims. You can see the pogo pins!).

Fantastic review and details! You've set a high bar for other reviewers as usual. I'm really thinking of buying a set, but I wanted to support your channel. I don't see an obvious affiliate link for this product in the description.

Thank you so much my friend! This means a lot, I really appreciate it! Good catch! I just added an affiliate link to the Amazon product page. You can usually just click any of my links and then search for the product you want and it should still count. Really appreciate it!

That was the Opencom mic test? Damn! Also, if you block your ears while wearing bone conduction headphones, the sound quality will greatly improve. Bass will come through, and they will sound rich.

@@pongchannel. Oh wow, would someone still need to wear hearing aids with these, or would these also be able to transmit sound without them in since they transmit via vibration rather than speakers? Honestly still kinda confused about how these work, but if they can somehow transmit sound to people who normally need hearing aids with them off, that's just incredible. I hadn't even thought of that.

    • @raystrazdas
      @raystrazdas  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

I’ve heard stories of people who are hard of hearing use Bone Conduction headphones and hear the sound just fine. I’m pretty sure since they use vibration one would be able to hear them just fine (I can’t 100% confirm that though)

PASS: Proprietary charge connector and will only work with ONE device at a time---even when paired to 2 devices in "multipoint" mode.

  • @CaptHowdy666

Can you lean back in a chair or lie down with these? It looks like that back part would push up and screw up this vibration thing.

As long as the vibrating part stays on your cheek/front part of ear, you can hear well

I am a warehouse worker/aspiring writer that has a lot of story ideas while I'm on the job. I would like to use some type of device to help me dictate my ideas on the spot since I'm not able to write while I'm working and its difficult to remember everything to jot down for later.
I wonder would I be able to use these in the noisy Warehouse environment? I need something hands-free so that I can still work but basically dictate my notes clearly into my phone.
I used to hold my phone up to my mouth and use the recording app whenever inspiration hit, but I was doing it too often and my supervisor got on my case for "playing on my phone" all the time. 😑
    I need something more discreet.

MANNNNN this is the BEST headphone that I ever bought!!!!! People talk about the sound is low and they are correct!!!! But guess what??? I found a setting that you can change your phone( I have an iPhone) that make the Opencomm LOUDER!!!!! How about that. Love them even more!!!!

    Hi,
I've been recently introduced to use bone conduction headphones as an alternative to heavy usage of my headphones which led to my demise of having an ear infection (which is being treated). Besides listening to music, and working from home, is this a good product to use when playing games specifically shooter games (which requires hearing foot steps from either side depending on the positioning of people)?

It’s super easy. As long as you can connect to a pair of Bluetooth headphones wirelessly, you can use these. They are very straightforward to use

Have had the OpenCom since they were released. And while the call, and reading, have been awesome, the mic has failed twice! They have changed their Customer service and I am disappointed in that, as well. May not get another pair! Sorry AfterShokz...

I am having multi-pair and or user error issues. I ran through
multi-point pairing and sync'd Bluetooth with an iPhone and Windows 10
(BT 5.2) desktop. The headset is never connected to both devices at the
same time. I do not see a way to manually switch the opencomm between
the two devices. From what I understand in the manual it "allows a
seamless transition between the two". In my case I can get it to
sometimes switch devices by maybe initiating a video to play on my
desktop or perhaps starting a phone call with my phone. Sometimes the
opencomm switches between the devices and it is not intuitive. I also
cannot get it to manually switch by hitting "connect" on the device that
it is not connected to at the moment. The device just spins and then
says cannot connect. I need to be able to keep headset mult-point
paired and quickly switch between phone calls, software meetings, and
other thing likes playing a video on device or streaming music on
    another.
A video for the other headset model Trekz shows pushing the
multi-function button once to manually switch between devices. I cannot
imaging that feature is on an audio headset and NOT on a conferencing
headset. Am I missing something here as I stated this could be user
    error?

horrible headphones. pressure that they put on your head is just unbearable. They don't block the ear canals, but give you such a headache that it is much worse than anything. Technically they work, but this feeling of pressure is overwhelming. 🤕

This trash video wasn’t even a review…. it was a promotion.
    1. Did not discuss battery life - how is charging while using them if possible at all?
    2. Did not discuss microphone quality - how am I supposed to know how it sounds when I can’t hear from the mic?
    3. Did not discuss microphone rotation - for a piece that cannot be removed, can it at least be rotated out of the way easily etc?
    4. Did not discuss sound quality - what do I expect for calls versus music? A lot of reviewers say high bass music is not great in quality, but I want more descriptive information.
    5. This video was a complete waste of time and space.
