Wildwood flower in "C" was how I figured out how to play it while in college. (50 years ago on a Yamaha D250 12 string). Thanks for the memories. By far my favorite way to play it.😀
Hi Dave, I've seen a lot of TH-cam instructional videos on "Wildwood Flower", but this is, by far, the best I've seen so far. Very clear, and very understandable. Great job! Thanks so much!
I would rather hear the melody of a song like this than hear the hottest flat picking on earth. This is what I call “ front porch” style 👍🏻. And it’s the style most people enjoy the most. Hearing the melody as if the instrument is singing the words of a song. Pay attention to this fella yall…he’s teaching you something very special. The hot flat picking and sea of rapid fire notes is cool and impressive but often the basic melody of a song is lost. Most times I wouldn’t even know what they were playing unless someone told me. But when you play this way everybody knows what your playing 👍🏻
Thank you for your lesson.....it is real easy the way you explained it and I am going to try it when I get my getar out....I am also a fan of mahogany guitars...they are beautiful. There are alot of videos on UTube about this song but yours is the best....I have played this song before but an octive higher and taught my self by ear.....your way is better...thanks.
Thank you Mark! I love this tune for that exact reason, the tune just falls right out of the chords and the notes themselves can show up in so many musical settings. Glad you liked the video.
i think it starts e f g a c b been playing over 65 years not quick with string numbers but a little better with fret numbers. but i know the notes of the neck . how come nobody uses the notes?
It must be unbelievably satisfying to be able to do what you do with a guitar. Thanks it’s taking me weeks to get the first few measures down.
Best instructor I’ve seen on You Tube. Always teaching, never just talking or looking for how to explain something.
Thanks Dave,
Clear, easy to follow lesson
of such a country classic
and thanks to Mabel Carter
"for scratching it out first" !
one one the best instructors in you tube land.
Always slow methodical and deliberate. Love the way this man teaches, always with the beginner in mind.
