Hahaha! I'm gonna gave to try the garage door opener trick. My husband ripped my sunrider off last week pulling into the garage. Just installed my new one. Funny thing is, I didn't have a gap on the one I bought back in 2021.But the one I just got has it. Just ordered some washers.
Haha that sucks, but I know it's so easy to do so I figured I'd add a but of a safety measurement. The opener is a pita to get to work sometimes though because of the metal around it though for us.
Thanks for this video -- very helpful! I've heard several folks say it fits better if you leave the washers off, but I think your solution is a bit more elegant. Also great tips on the latching. Unfortunately the garage door opener trick won't work because I have the Lux package with the integrated opener, but maybe I'll drop a tennis ball or piece of caution tape or something 😄
Thanks for that, I appreciate it! We've had several down pours without any leaking so I know the seals are all tight with the washers like this. I didn't even think about the lux package having the garage opener built in haha. It's definitely kept us from just hitting the button and driving in with the top open.
You're very welcome, I'm happy to hear it! You're going to love the top, we've had it down almost every time we take the bronco. You can run the heat or ac and it makes It easy to have it open even more often.
Agreed! I got my Sunrider installed a couple weeks ago but it's still been mostly quite cold here in Atlantic Canada... finally today at lunch time I thought well it's warmish out there and it's been on long enough, hopefully the clasps won't feel so crazy stiff!? So I was indeed able to flip down the latch pretty easy, but think I was just failing to flip it back up which will hopefully release the "inner" part of the clasp...? I'm back at my desk for a couple hours now, but will def play with it more when I go back out... Also, I love the label you have above your aux switches, did you get that from a seller I could look up, or maybe it was done with a cricut?
Great video. Do you think the sun rider would work under the roof rails? Even though they’re going to miss it again my two door has an eta of Memorial Day. Still stuck in production tho. Hopefully not for 9 months like they did with my 4 door. Have a great weekend
I think you could use the rails, but then you definitely wouldn't be able to open the sunrider. If you want to have rails on most of the time then you'd be better off to stick with the factory panels since they can still be removed with roof rails on.
@@TheCorneringStore thank you. I figured that would be the case. Didn’t know how high that sunrider sat up. I’ve never seen one in person. You video was great showing how it worked. Thanks!
It was poured on during some big rains we had here when it was outside my wife's work and it was completely dry inside so no leaks. I don't take it through car washes so no input there.
Hey Jon, I wouldn't because I did that with a CJ I had and while driving the tailgate window moved around so much that one of the bolts holding the strut in the fiberglass tore out. Maybe that wouldn't be a concern with this new bronco, but it would be a concern of mine, but if you're just on a trail going slow with no dust to keep out then maybe it would be nice!
I don't think I have enough time with the original panels and hwy driving to give a good answer. With the sunrider around town is just fine, but when you hit 65-70 and over its pretty noisy. I do remember with the hardtop panels though, that it was fairly noisy as well when you'd hit those speeds. If you're already not happy about hwy speed noise with the factory panels and you do a lot if hwy then you won't be happy. That said, it's worth it for us as we still love having the sunrider and the ability to just flip it back whenever totally outshines the extra noise for us.
@TheCorneringStore thanks for the reply, I was afraid they would be louder. It may be feasible to just install it in the spring then put the hardtops back on in the fall🤷. I think the convenience would outweigh the noise. There's not much storage for the tops in a two-door like mine!

Thanks for the tip about latching and unlatching the top. I just installed my top today and struggled a bit with the clasps.

Does the sunrider leak at all in the rain or carwash? thanks

ok thank you for the info
Do you (or can you) open your back tailgate window for added ventilation while driving?

@@TheCorneringStore I did with my JK but only a couple of times. I think I may have to get one of these for my bronco! Thanks for getting back to me…
What is the noise level compared to the hard top panels?
