    Funny how these videos come across my recommendations to watch, as I have for the past few months been trying to get my school info together to take maritime technology. These vids have truly peaked my interest to the fullest. Looks peaceful out at sea. Keep us with a steady diet of your sea journeys

    I live in Virginia Beach and have travelled the bridge tunnels often but it was great to see them from the sea. Thanks so much for your efforts.

    I worked a cruise ship out of Norfolk for a few runs back in '06 we docked at Nauticus. Sailing past the USN on the way in was impressive.

    I lo e this. I had been looking for something similar to this video. I miss being on a ship so this real-time speed helps me while I work and it makes me feel like I'm on board sailing. Did you do one for NY or Seattle meaning if you sailed there. If you do get to those locations please make a similar video same length and thank you for sharing

    So when you guys are in port, do you get to leave the port area, and pop into any nearby towns? Keep up the great vids. Your presentation style is amazing.

    • @BryanBoyle

      Yes, if we are off duty and there are no restrictions such as security or Covid, then we are able to go ashore and explore the local area! Some ships are better for shore leave since they take longer to load/discharge cargo. For example, I was on a grain ship that was in port for a month in Djibouti unloading US aid grain to Africa. More commonly, most of the container ships I work on are in port less than a full day with the occasional overnight in some ports. If your work schedule is timed right, you can usually still spend a solid 6 or 7 hours ashore and make it back for watch.

    It was nice to see the Aircraft Carrier piers at NavSta Norfolk. I put the USS Nimitz in commission there back in 1975.

    Can you make a video about the different pay scales onboard a container ship?

    • @BryanBoyle
      @BryanBoyle  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Let me talk to my union first about how much info I can divulge on pay. I can offer some basic info though here: unlicensed crew earn around $300-500 per day. Licensed officers earn around $$650-2000 per day which includes overtime and vacation wages.

    • @alexmitsakos2717

      Under normal circumstances, out there most ships go as slow as possible to save on fuel.
